Have you ever had a moment where you are so absolutely overwhelmed because the gravity of the world suddenly is too much? The realization that you couldn't read every book in the world, and its impossible to see every square inch of the Earth. The infinite possibilities, and yet I still want to do it all, read it all, see it all.

Unbelievable tired and burned out, but the data analyses is done, just in time for my upcoming birthday and Christmas break. I presented my work yesterday, which went fine with little critique and helpful suggestions about the discussion. Now it‘s time to finally get some writing done. Not today and tomorrow, though. I feel like I have to make up for the lack of healthy boundaries during the last few weeks, so I‘m dedicating today and tomorrow to good coffee, nice meals and relaxing as much as possible.

winter break diaries - 19/december
today was kinda rough. spent all morning revising data acquisition systems (ISAD). then spent the afternoon working on my wall-e robot (my poor boy looks like he's going through it, and so am i), and that completely destroyed my brain, i think it melted or smth. istg, Fusion takes years out of my life😭😭
i still tried to finish revising ISAD but honestly at one point i was just going through the words instead of actually learning anything 💀 but it's okay. first read of the slides is done (altho a bit chaotic), so now it will be easier to study in the exam's week.
I'll still study for my driving theory exam tonight. im actually pretty happy with how it's going, im finally consistently passing all the practice exams😎🚗

Things are going much faster now that I’m just translating and reading a chapter. I should probably increase the number of lines I’m translating per day, but I’ll do that tomorrow because I’m planning on meeting some friends to work at a coffee shop. I still have a whole conference paper to write…and an article to revise…and a dissertation chapter to start…so…

the key to surviving grad school (also maybe life but definitely grad school) is to pick a side quest every few months or so. something that brings you joy and that you can get better at over time, independent of whether or not your research or classes are going well. put your need for academic validation to use in a non-academic setting and everything will feel less dire and you will learn you are more than your work
