books on the shelf bothered her. taking one by one out to re-arrange in haphazard way as final bell for class toll. she was going to be late. but she couldn’t leave them like this.

Hanajima may not , but she does . Students that pass them in hallway interject commentary about seeming showdown , crackle of tension between one’s empty blank stare to another’s probing. 

she wonders, piqued.  ❛ that would be a correct statement to make. a fair connotation.  ❜ she relents. yet asks  ❛ .... what about me stood out? ❜

HANAJIMA ISN’T ONE TO STARE , but the other girl’s waves are interesting enough to catch her attention . they’re INTERESTING in that they’re quiet ; SUBDUED in a way that she’s never quite experienced . ( yet , there is an intensity that she senses , too . CURIOUS indeed . )

Hm. The sole of her shoe too late enters a puddle , sullen gaze falling to her foot in the puddle. slow to raise her foot and step back out of it.

“Watch your step… it’s wet.” he had heard someone coming, when he turned just a bit to actually look at them, he offered a small smile, not at all addressing the fact that he was letting himself get soaking wet. “Hey…. you are Yuki’s friend right?”

I just noticed this but he says “Machi likes red, huh?” And then puts his arm around Yuki, who was assigned the colour red.

Maybe I’m slow. But when he says “Redo ka?” , he’s definitely referring to Yuki, right? I’m not imagining the inflection there? Cause if he were referring to the colour, he would have used the Japanese word.

❛ ...it’s fine. ❜   chair dragged and she rose to gather her bag as council convened it’s meeting upon the realization her birthday had passed yesterday. It did not matter. days went by as they did , like any other. there was nothing special about one or another. she was going home.
