y’all i did it! I graduated with my master’s in music education and I found an amazing job! 

For this job, I beat out 70 applicants for this one band position. I still can’t believe I landed an amazing job right out of college. It’s amazing seeing my work paid off! 

tw: depression

I’ve been on tumblr since freshmen yearish of high school back in 2011 - 2012. I found such a wonderful community in the anime world and I was exploring myself as a person! I eventually wanted to pursue music education when I was a senior because I loved practicing and performing my instrument! I also competed a lot and did really really well 

college was a worldwind for sure. at first it was amazing, but i came across quite a few fake people and terrible situations that ultimately spiraled me into massive depression that I couldn’t shake for years. I eventually left college because it got so bad. I made the decision to go back to the same college after a year and I kept moving forward.

I was scared when I was applying to music education jobs. these jobs are cut throat and a lot of the big ones don’t want someone who had b’s or c’s in their music classes. I had a few because of my depressive episodes. I was also scared that I wouldn’t find a job because of my gap year! 

it was really scary and my depression was coming back, but I felt like I had better tools to handle it. I kept moving forward through my student teaching and I ended up getting a big music edu job last month!! 

It’s been a wonderful experience and I was so excited to start this journey. I’m excited to help run a band program of 200 kids and I hope I can inspire them to love music as much as I do!

Thank you so much! It’s been a very eventful day so far. Been up since 3am and wasn’t able to fall back asleep. I’ll miss my dog so much but I’m glad she isn’t in pain anymore. She’s helped Me through so many challenges in my life 😔
