Tips For Dryer Vent Cleaning After Winter
Spring is finally here! The snow has melted, the flowers are blooming and of course, everyone's getting rid of their winter clothes. But before you go throwing out your heavy sweaters and boots, it's important to clean out your dryer vent. If you don't do this soon after the season changes, it could lead to problems like increased energy bills or a damaged dryer that doesn't function properly. Here are eight tips for cleaning your dryer vent after winter:
Use a brush to remove lint from dryer vents
You can use a dryer vent brush to remove lint from your dryer's lint trap and exhaust ducts. This will keep them from clogging up, which could cause problems with airflow and prevent the machine from drying properly.
If you don't have a brush, it's probably best for you to get one now before winter sets in again!
Vacuum out the vent.
After you've cleaned the lint trap, it's time to get rid of all that nasty clogged-up lint that's accumulated in your dryer's exhaust vent. A little brush can help remove this debris and keep things running smoothly, but a vacuum cleaner with a long hose is even better. Just be sure not to use any kind of stiff brush or broom on the vent--they could damage it!
If you want to clean out your vent after each load of laundry (and we recommend doing so), take this opportunity as well: Simply run some hot water through the hose until there are no longer any suds coming out at all; then let it air dry before storing away again for next year's winter cleaning session.
Check the dryer door seal.
The first thing you need to do is check the dryer door seal. This is a thin piece of plastic that fits between the inside of your dryer and its door frame, preventing lint from escaping when you shut it. If this seal isn't working properly, it can cause big problems:
Loose seals allow lint to build up in your ductwork and around other components like fans and motors--which leads us right into our next tip!
Tight seals can cause overheating if they restrict airflow too much (but only if they're really tight).
Replace exhaust ducts that are damaged.
If your dryer vent ducts are damaged or clogged with mouse nests and other debris, it's time to replace them. You can do this yourself with a little elbow grease and a few tools. If you need help finding the right parts for your dryer, talk to an HVAC professional at your local hardware store or call one in for an estimate on repairs and installation.
If you've got rats in the walls of your home that chew through the ducts, then again--replace those ducts! Rats are notorious chewers who will make short work out of any type of plastic or metal material found in their environment--even if it's as strong as steel (which is why we recommend installing galvanized steel vents). For example: one house had rats so bad they were chewing through wood beams supporting the second floor!
Have your dryer inspected for safety and efficiency by a professional.
If you're still unsure about whether or not to hire a professional, here are some reasons why it's worth the money:
You want to make sure that your dryer is safe and efficient. If there's something wrong with your dryer vent, it could cause fires and even explosions. A professional will be able to check for cracks or holes that need to be repaired before they become larger problems down the road. This is especially important if you live in an area prone to extreme weather, like hurricanes or tornadoes; these storms can cause damage even if they don't directly touch your home!
You have pets who shed a lot of hair throughout the year (which means more cleaning). Regularly vacuuming out their fur balls can help keep them out of the appliance itself but only taking care of what's visible isn't enough--the rest needs attention too! It may seem like an unnecessary step but keeping things clean helps prevent bacteria growth which could lead people getting sick from touching things after using them without washing their hands first."
Secure any loose vent hoods, which can cause fire hazards.
Secure any loose vent hoods, which can cause fire hazards. Vent hoods are usually secured by screws or other fasteners, but they can come loose over time and fall off. If you've had your dryer vent cleaned recently and notice that your vent hood isn't secure, check to see if there are any screws or fasteners missing. If so, replace them immediately before they cause a fire in your home!
Use care when cleaning around gas lines: Never use water to clean around gas lines--it's too easy for water leaks to develop on these surfaces and cause serious harm or death if they're not checked regularly (once every year). You should also avoid using harsh chemicals like bleach when cleaning around these pipes because it could corrode them over time; instead opt for mild soap solutions with warm water only when needed.*
Run the dryer empty after each use to clear out any dust.
The best way to keep your dryer vent clean is to run it empty after each use. This will help to keep the lint trap clean and prevent fires, but it's also important for preventing clogs in your dryer vent. If you don't regularly run an empty load, then any dust or debris that has been trapped in there during previous loads will build up over time until it becomes too difficult for air to flow through freely.
The next step after running an empty load is cleaning out your lint trap regularly (once every week or two). You can use a dryer lint brush for this purpose--it's easy enough: just slide out the old one, slide in new one!
These cleaning tips will help you get ready for Spring!
If you have been using the dryer to dry wet clothes, it's important to clean out your dryer vent before using it again in the spring.
You may also want to give your dryer vent a thorough cleaning after winter if you live in an area that gets very cold and snowy. When snow melts on roofs, it can cause damage by getting into vents or accumulating inside them over time. The same goes for rain or ice build-up--they can cause blockages that prevent proper airflow throughout the system.

How To Have A Stress-Free Move To Houston, TX
Moving is stressful, but it doesn't have to be. If you follow these simple tips, your upcoming move to Houston will be stress-free and even enjoyable.
Know your budget.
You can't move if you don't have the money, so know your budget and stick to it. Set a realistic figure for your moving expenses and don't spend more than that amount. If something costs more than what you planned on spending, then either try negotiating with the seller or wait until later when you have more funds available.
You should also keep in mind that when buying a house in Houston, TX make sure not to spend more than its value! This will ensure that there are no surprises later down the line when it comes time for repairs or renovations (which happen all too often).
Get an estimate.
The first step in planning your move is getting an estimate. A good estimate will help you determine how much money you need to save up before moving, which will make it easier for you to plan and budget for the big day.
Once you have an idea of how much everything is going to cost, consider whether or not it's possible for your current living situation (and income) in Houston. If so, great! You can start saving up now by cutting back on small expenses like eating out and buying new clothes on occasion instead of replacing old ones with worn out items from Goodwill stores--or whatever other ways people choose these days when deciding what they want their lives look like when they're done being poor college students/students who haven't yet graduated school but still want accesses certain luxuries that come with adulthood such as having friends over at least once every two weeks without feeling guilty about spending too much money on food/drinks because everyone knows alcohol makes everything better anyway so why not splurge while we can?
Pack yourself.
Packing yourself is the easiest way to ensure that you don't forget anything. It also saves money, since you won't need to pay someone else to pack your things for you. You can even save on shipping costs by using a moving truck or trailer, if available in your area (some rental companies offer these).
Here's what I recommend packing:
Clothes - Pack all of your clothes into suitcases or duffels, and then put those suitcases/duffels into large plastic bins for extra protection during transit. If possible, use clear plastic bins so that someone else can easily see what's inside without having to open them up! If this isn't possible (or affordable), go with black ones instead--they tend not as much light leakage through them as other colors do.* Shoes - Pack each pair individually inside its own shoe box so they don't get mixed up with each other during transit.* Kitchen supplies - Make sure these are packed securely in sturdy containers such as Tupperware containers or Ziploc bags.* Toiletries - Include all kinds here: toothbrushes/toothpaste/mouthwash; shampoo/conditioner; shaving cream; lotion... whatever seems necessary!
Be organized and leave a detailed note.
Organization is the key to a stress-free move. Make a list of items you want to take with you, and then make another list of items that can be left behind. If there are any important documents or personal items, consider storing them with friends or family members who live nearby.
Make sure that everyone knows where they can reach you in case they need anything during this big transition period! Leave detailed notes on both your new and old addresses (including phone numbers), plus email addresses if possible; don't forget any other pertinent information like birthdays or anniversaries!
Have a moving buddy or two.
Moving is a stressful process, no matter where you're moving to or from. You'll have to pack up all of your belongings, find a way to transport them and then unpack them once they arrive at their destination. It's also important not to forget about the cost of hiring movers as well as any fees associated with having them do so (like fuel costs).
If you don't have any friends or family members who can help out during this time, consider hiring professionals instead! Movers in Houston TX are available 24/7 so there's no reason why anyone should have an excuse for not getting things done quickly enough before their move date arrives..
Get a good mattress protector to keep your mattress clean and protected.
A mattress protector is a thin, waterproof layer that sits over your mattress to protect it from dirt and stains. It also helps keep allergens like dust mites at bay.
While sleeping on an old, soiled mattress can be uncomfortable enough, imagine all the things that could go wrong if you were moving while still lying on top of it: ripping off the new sheets you just bought because they're caught in between two mattresses; spilling something onto your brand-new mattress before even having had time to set up house; getting blood stains from carrying heavy boxes across town (or country). These are just some examples of how damaging an improperly-protected bed can be during a move!
The best kind of protector is one that has multiple layers--a waterproof outer layer with another layer inside made out of soft fleece fabric for added comfort and warmth at night when temperatures drop down into single digits outside! And remember: always make sure there's enough room between whatever surface you're moving across (be it carpeting) so nothing gets stuck underneath as well!

Things You Should Know Before Having Your Dryer Vents Cleaned
Your dryer vent is an important part of your home's heating and cooling system, but it also has a tendency to get clogged up over time. This can cause serious problems for homeowners who don't know how to fix them on their own!
It's a good idea to clean your dryer vents at least once a year.
Lint can build up in the ductwork and clog it, which can cause fires. Lint is also a fire hazard for other reasons: when it builds up in your dryer vent, it can catch on fire and start a blaze that damages property or even kills people. A plugged-up vent will cause your clothes to take longer to dry because they don't have enough airflow going through them; this will wear out the motor sooner than normal--and who wants to spend more money on repairs?
If you own an older-model dryer, you may need to clean it more often.
Older-model dryers are less efficient, so they use more energy and produce more lint than newer models. This means that your vent system needs regular maintenance to keep up with the increased load on it.
If you're using an older model of dryer and don't have access to professional cleaning services or don't want to pay for them yourself, then consider upgrading when possible--or at least make sure that your current machine is running as efficiently as possible by performing a thorough inspection once every 6 months (more often if needed). This includes checking hoses and filters as well as cleaning out lint buildup inside the machine itself (which can cause damage over time).
You might be able to save money by doing some of the work yourself.
If you want to save money, consider doing some of the work yourself. For example, it's easy enough to clean out your lint trap when it's full. And if you have an older dryer with a duct system that runs through walls or up through the floorboards, you can vacuum out lint from there too.
You should also pay attention to how often you should clean out these areas--while once every few years is ideal, doing so more frequently won't hurt either!
Cleaning your lint trap is easy, and you can use this guide if you need help doing so.
Cleaning your lint trap is easy, and you can use this guide if you need help doing so. To clean your dryer vent, first remove the lint from inside of it by pulling it out with a vacuum cleaner or broom. Next, clean up any debris that's on top of the device itself by wiping down its surface with a damp cloth or paper towel. Afterward, check to make sure there aren't any holes in either end of your dryer's venting system; if so, fill those holes with tape before using duct tape around all four sides of each opening (to prevent air leaks) and then sealing off both ends with more tape once they've been filled up completely!
When cleaning your dryer vent professionally, make sure that the company uses specific tools for the job.
When you have your dryer vents cleaned professionally, make sure that the company uses specific tools for the job. A vacuum can be used to remove lint from inside of the vent pipe, but should not be used as a substitute for a brush or snake. The lint trap should also be cleaned with a brush before vacuuming it out--this will help prevent clogs in future use.
The best way to clean out a dryer duct is with an industrial vacuum cleaner that has been designed specifically for cleaning duct work and other small spaces (like attics). These tools are much more effective than household vacuums at removing debris without damaging surfaces like metal or plastic pipes.

Why You Should Get Your Ducts Cleaned Out
When it comes to The Woodlands TX, a common question that you will get asked is whether or not they should be cleaning their vents or if they should be getting their ducts cleaned. If you are looking for an answer to this question, then you may want to have a look at the following information so you can learn some top benefits of getting your ducts cleaned out.
If you live in the Pittsburgh area, then you know that it's not uncommon to have an excess amount of dust and particles floating around in your home. With all of the construction going on around town, it's not surprising that so much dirt is present. However, even if all you've been doing is sitting at home while watching TV or reading a book, your ductwork may still have some dangerous contaminants building up inside it. These contaminants can be harmful to your health as well as make your air conditioner less efficient than it should be. That's why you need to get your ducts cleaned out by a professional air duct cleaning company like ours here at Duct Cleaning Company Pittsburgh!
Dust mites.
Dust mites are microscopic organisms that live in mattresses, pillows, and carpets. They're not dangerous but can cause allergic reactions--especially in children and people with asthma or other respiratory conditions. Dust mites love to feast on dead skin cells, so if you have a lot of them in your house (and who doesn't?), chances are good that the air quality inside is poor.
That's where professional air duct cleaning comes in: it removes dust mites from your ductwork so they won't be circulated throughout your home when the heat kicks on or during an HVAC system's regular maintenance checkup.
Dangerously high levels of mold.
Mold can cause health problems.
Mold can be toxic to humans.
Mold can cause allergies and asthma attacks.
Mold is dangerous for your respiratory system, causing sinus infections and ear infections (otitis media).
Pests like cockroaches and mice.
As you might imagine, pests like cockroaches and mice can cause serious health problems.
Cockroaches carry bacteria, viruses, and other germs on their bodies. They can also leave droppings behind when they die in your ducts or crawl around in them. If these contaminants get into the air you breathe through your HVAC system, it's possible for you to develop an allergic reaction or asthma attack if you're prone to such reactions--and even if not, these allergens are still floating around where they shouldn't be! In addition to this risk of infection from disease-carrying bugs (which is especially dangerous for children), rodents can also bring fleas into homes along with them--and those fleas will bite anyone who comes near them!
If that weren't enough reason to get rid of these pests once and for all: Rats are known carriers of diseases such as leptospirosis (a bacterial infection) as well as the plague; mice carry hantavirus which causes the fatal respiratory disease; both rats/mice transmit salmonella through their feces/urine which causes food poisoning; cockroaches spread e coli 0157:H7 bacteria which causes bloody diarrhea among other symptoms...
Bacteria and germs such as E-coli, streptococcus, staphylococcus, mold, mildew, and viruses.
There are a number of bacteria and germs that can be found in your ducts. These include:
E-coli - This is one of the most common forms of food poisoning, and it's caused by Escherichia coli (E. coli). E-coli bacteria live in animal intestines and are passed through feces or poop. The most common symptoms include diarrhea, stomach cramps, and vomiting. If you have young children who crawl around on the floor or play with toys outside their toys should be disinfected regularly to avoid infection from this type of bacterium
Streptococcus - This is a group of bacteria that lives in our bodies normally without any problems but sometimes they cause infections like strep throat or Scarlet Fever which can lead to rashes if left untreated
VOCs or volatile organic compounds.
VOCs are a byproduct of the cleaning process. They can cause irritation and respiratory problems, as well as headaches, nausea, and dizziness.
They're harmful to your health and even more so if you have pets in the house. VOCs can build up over time in your ducts and cause serious damage to their health. The chemicals may also be absorbed through inhalation or ingestion by pets who spend time near vents or floors where dust has accumulated from previous duct cleaning jobs (or even just from normal use).
When it comes down to it--get them cleaned out! You'll feel better knowing that there's nothing lurking in those air ducts that could potentially harm others around you.*
Carbon Monoxide.
Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless gas that can cause serious health problems. It's produced when fuels such as natural gas and propane are burned without enough oxygen for complete combustion. CO can enter your home through vents or chimneys and build up inside your ductwork system where it may linger for months or even years before being detected by you or a professional cleaning service.
If you notice symptoms such as headaches, nausea, or fatigue after using appliances like furnaces or water heaters in your home then it might be time to call in an expert who will perform thorough inspections of their systems before anything bad happens!
