He gripped her hand with a smile. "Okay! At trees right?"
"I personally think the safest place is where you won’t accidentally cut yourself in them." Sakura smiled. She nodded and grabbed Gaara’s small hand. "Alright, then. Let’s go throw some shuriken. Carefully."

Gaara grinned at her brightly. "Yeah! That's the safest place for them!" He nodded at her, and crossed his finger over his chest. "Cross my heart, I'll listen, I promise!"
Sakura huffed. “You but them on your toy chest?” Rolling her eyes, she laughed and took the weapons from him to put them on her pouch. “Now, if we’re gonna do this you have to promise to be very careful and listen to what I say before throwing so you won’t get hurt.”

He pouted a bit. "I want to do it!" Hopping off the couch, he ran for his bedroom and dug through his toy chest, coming back with her kunai and a couple shuriken.
"Now, now, you should want to learn for yourself, not for a reason like that." Although she really wanted Gaara to show those little brats who’s boss. "If you tell me where you put my weapons we can go right now."

He nodded some, giving her a small smile. "Okay Mama. Will you teach me? I want to learn, so I can be better than the other students who call me names."
"I think you’re too young to be Kazekage.” Sakura chuckled and kissed Gaara’s cheek. “I just don’t want you to hurt yourself. Don’t take my weapons like that, okay? If you want to start learning how to throw tell me, I’ll take you to the training grounds.”

He pouted. "Yes Mama... I just wanted to be like you. I wanna get better faster so I can be Kazekage."
A gentle hand turned Gaara’s face, making him look at her again. “You’ll be learning how to toss shuriken at the Academy really soon, you shouldn’t be in such a hurry.” She smiled. “But, if you are too impatient I don’t mind giving you a bit of guidance once in a while.”

Gaara frowned some, looking away. "Yes, Mama..." he murmured. It hurt. He wasn't big enough to do anything it seemed.
Sakura sighed and knelt on the floor in front of him. “You’ll have time for that. You’re too young, you could get hurt!” She frowned and bit her lip. “Promise me you won’t do that again.”

maisqueumaflor replied to your post:"Gaara, please tell me you haven't been playing with my shuriken. I can't find them."
Her eyebrow arched and she glared at her son. “Gaara…”
He pouted up at her. "I wanna be a ninja like you..."

{For how Hina is feelin about Gaara's death} Hinata stared at the little coffin, tears streaming down her face, mixing in with the rain that was pouring down from the sky. Why? Why did bad things always happen to the ones she loves? She fell to the ground, sobbing and holding her head as if in pain. It all hurt. This couldn't be real.. This was all just a nightmare.. Gaara was still alive! He had to be! He couldn't have just gone like that... No... No! She wouldn't accept this! Never!

Muse is dead meme. I apologize.
People die. Sakura has been taught since she was young that that's how things go, especially when you're a ninja. Missions go wrong, villages get attacked... People die and there's nothing anyone can do about it. It sounds like an easy enough thing to accept, humans were never meant to live forever and some die sooner than the others. In theory, it was easy, really.
But this wasn't theory anymore. This was cruel, painful reality.
Everything was a blur from the second Sakura got the message that something had happened to Gaara. She ran, pushed people out of her way, may have even hurt one or two civilians. She would have cared, really, if there wasn't a much bigger pain awaiting her.
Blood. There was a lot of blood. Was it possible that such a small body could lose so much of it? Of course it was, she was a medic and she knew it, but once again reality was way more harsh than theory. She didn't care for it, running over and kneeling beside the limp body on the ground, tears overflowing as she gently cradled his face with shaky hands.
He was gone. Sakura couldn't do anything for him anymore.
So she cried.
It was demanded that the body was taken back to Suna. Sakura wouldn't have none of it, she screamed and argued and even hit someone's jaw, but she wasn't Gaara's biological mother nor did she have any official documentation stating he was her son, so she had no other option but to watch as they took her baby away, not before she gave him one last kiss.
She pushed Deidara away afterwards, running away from any reminder of what could have been. She felt lonely, she cried more than she had ever cried, she argued constantly with herself. I should have gotten there sooner.
Sakura was rarely seen outside anymore, and when she did leave the house most people would fail to recognize her. Once bright, vivid eyes were dull, tired. She was so tired and yet she couldn't sleep, the only time she ever got some rest was when she passed out from drinking way too much. But it was good, because when she did it didn't hurt as much, and while passed out she could still dream of Gaara's smile.
But it was useless. He was gone.
By accident or not, Sakura had a feeling soon enough she would be gone too.

"Oh..."
He was... shocked. Overjoyed. His face lit up with a bright smile when he realized he'd be able to create something rather than destroy it. Something he loved to do with his sand, but it often didn't really want to cooperate.
"Lee-sama... thank you..!" He giggled and hugged the man. "Can we build it now?"
"Gaara-sama," he called out in a happy tone, both hands behind his back, "I believe you forgot one from Santa!" Produces a wrapped box from behind his back, a bright red bow on top. He's smiling wide as he kneels down to hand it over. Inside are all the pieces and parts to construct a traditional box-kite, complete with string and glue.
He’s confused at first. A gift for him? The bow is his favorite part at first, taking it off carefully and tying it in his hair like his mother’s forehead protector tends to be tied. Then he opened the box, and his eyes widened.
"What are these, Lee-sama…?" He’d never made a kite before, he didn’t know what all these bits and parts were for.
