You can fight AI in indie publishing by leaving reviews.
Seriously.
Ai-generated garbage is flooding the self-publishing market. It works as a numbers game- put out ENOUGH fake crap and eventually someone’s aunt will buy them the ebook as an unwanted gift, and you’ll have made two dollars. This tactic works at SCALE, which means real independent titles are now a needle amongst a haystack of slop.
If you have read a book this year that has less than 5 reviews, your rating is an algorithmic spotlight on that needle.
A one sentence review helps. Really. A star rating helps if you really can’t think of anything to say, but if you can muster up even “I laughed at the part about the tabby cat” you are doing indie authors a favor like you cannot believe.
(Also if you left a review on one of my books this year I am kissing you so softly on your forehead and I adore you)

now that trump has tiktok, twitter, facebook and insta in his pocket, get ready for a massive wave of internet censorship. one of trump's greatest weapons has always been misinformation; it's going to become harder and harder to spread facts and criticism going forward. posts that aren't made invisible will be magically ignored by the algorithm. dissidents will have their accounts deleted and voices erased.
this is a suppression tactic. this is another stage of fascism.

year of the snake! Here's progress shots and then the final pic. Still getting used to the new paint, I like a lot of it but miss the old versions more and more. Might revert back.

Americans, I know we're going through it, but why do I keep seeing stuff like "I'm sorry world, we'll fix this in 4 years"? But like... what do you mean "4 years"?
We have midterm in 2026, yearly local elections, special elections, primaries, etc.
We have the right (dare I say responsibility) to contact our representatives and the right to organize and protest if/when they don't listen.
We need to find a meaningful way to educate people about propaganda and media literacy. We need to convince people to be willing to educate themselves. The habit of only checking in to politics on presidential election years needs broken.
I understand how defeating today feels, but we, especially those of us who could conceivably make it through these four years unscathed, need to stop this proactive surrender.

idk man, it just seems like a no-brainer that the easiest solution to combat 'propaganda' lies in education, in media literacy. being able to identify propaganda and understand how it is used, where to find it, what its goals are, whether it's good or bad isn't even difficult with just a little bit of emphasis and focus on it in education.
so it would seem, the simplest solution and the most long-lasting and effective tool to fight 'foreign propaganda' is to educate citizens, to have an informed public, and to allow consistent (and free!!) access to information while doing so.
but of course if us americans finally figured out how to recognize propaganda in their silly social media apps, the us government would have a real problem on their hands wouldn't they?
and this goes beyond party lines btw. everyone does this shit and we would all be better off if everyone knew how to recognize it when it happened

PLEASE SHARE! (I have attached the English and Spanish versions but MANY more languages are available at the attached link)
One way to support the undocumented community is by sharing resources, reminding individuals of their rights, and standing in solidarity with them. Here's one effective way to offer support: provide Know Your Rights cards to empower our communities.
You can print these cards for free! I am sharing a resource from the IRC, which can be downloaded and is available in multiple languages.
Let's work together to empower our communities!

For the record, I would never knowingly use or share AI generated art in anything I post, so if you ever catch me doing so, it was an accident, and I'd like you to let me know so I can delete it.

putting into motion the ban on an entertainment app that’s popular with the youth and young adults in your country just so you can swoop in at the last minute and play the hero who saves the day and actually brings the app back for everybody is such a cartoonishly supervillain plot, you’d think it came out of the children’s tv show. but no, it came out of the brain of the president-elect of the united states
