This dunya is like a shadow. If you try to catch it, you will never be able to do so. If you turn your back towards it, it has no choice but to follow you.
Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah

فَمَن تَابَ مِن بَعْدِ ظُلْمِهِ وَأَصْلَحَ
But whoever repents after his wrongdoing and reforms,
فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يَتُوبُ عَلَيْهِ
indeed, Allah will turn to him in forgiveness.
إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. — Surah Al-Ma'idah [5:39]

“Dear Ramadan, This year more than any other, I approach you with humility. I do not come with a mile long to-do-list, with a set of goals, gorgeous journals or lanterns and arts an crafts. I come to you as a heavy-hearted slave, empty-handed, barefoot and broken. I am in need of Allah’s generosity in this month. I am in need of Allah’s mercy this month. I am in need of Allah’s forgiveness this month. Without it, I am lost, lost and alone.”

“يا الله”
— He hears every breath you take, so never - for the blinking of an eye - think He doesn’t hear every Duaa you make. He is As-Sami, the All-Hearing. And He is Al-Mujib, the Answerer. He hears the caller and He responds to the call. Just trust Him.

Ar-Rayyan
The Prophet ﷺ said: There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it.
It will be said, ‘Where are those who used to observe fasts?’ They will get up, and none except them will enter through it.

tips (reminders for myself & you)
- if you haven’t got your nikkah done with them, don’t get comfortable and don’t entertain them by giving them attention like that
- focus on your deen & education & life goals. that girl/boy isn’t going anywhere.
- akhlaq is everything
- ‘my heart is at ease knowing what’s meant for me, will never miss me’
- pray; pray, pray.
It’ll be hard at first but I promise you it’s only for a little longer, keep persevering, keep doing good deeds, maintain your hayya, watch your tongue and know that Allah is watching you.
If you wouldn’t want your parents to hear/ see it; be conscious of the fact that Allah hears/ sees everything.
pray even when you’re happy and you think life is going good for you, you’re at your most vulnerable point whether you see it or not
- when you’re having a disagreement with someone, don’t raise your voice, raise your words. display kindness and compassion and you’ll see the conversation turn around
- appreciate.
appreciate your parents, siblings, friends, teachers, neighbours, people you see on an everyday commute eg. bus driver, shopkeeper etc. saying good morning & thank you, really can fill you up with gratitude more than you think. constantly remind your friends how much you love and appreciate them. send them a text/ call them if you can’t meet up with them.
- stop basing your friendships on social media.
you are so lucky to have great friends, please go make effort to see one and another and actively spend time with each other. you’ll regret it once they’re gone
- you’ll know, you’ll just know
- struggling is part of the process
- love. don’t be cold hearted. don’t belittle yourself because someone decided to isolate their warmth and emotions from you. It’s cruel and unhealthy. be open and love, love so fiercely and so deeply and watch others reciprocate the love back to you
- Allah will never betray you.
- this dunya was meant to break your heart
- loving yourself is key.
the world will not end if someone doesn’t like you back, but you’ll be crushed if you don’t love yourself
It’ll be hard at first but when you’ve encompassed the art of loving yourself, it comes with this contagious aura of other people wanting to love themselves, too
- donate and support others
donating £1 makes more of a difference than you think. if you can’t find anyone to support, they’re are many charities and organisations such as Islamic appeal, pennyappeal, WE, which all have appeals for different causes but have actively changed lives.
- pure intentions leads to a pure heart

There is an ayah in the Qur'an where Allah promises us that if we thank Him then He will surely grant us more. And subhanallah, it’s not just to do with wealth. It’s to do with everything. If Allah has guided you, thank Him. He will keep you steadfast. If He teaches you something new regarding the deen, thank Him and He will increase you in knowledge. If happiness surrounds you, then thank Him. He will give you even more things to be happy about. Just a few moments of pondering over the bounties of Allah can increase our Imaan.
