protected the lives of innocent children at the cost of her own body, witnessed her twin sister be beheaded before her, lived in the library for two years but later being the first person to write her name down for training, learned to trust and share her story with her found sisters, became the first Valkyrie in 500 years by cutting the ribbon, along with her sisters were the first to finish the Blood Rite Qualifier, overcame her fear and left the library to be with Nesta, hid in the trees for two nights before leading a beast to a group of Illyrian's, stole a squirrel by herself to feed her sisters, gotten struck with an arrow yet told her sisters to cut the rope and leave her, refused to leave Nesta's side despite it meaning she would die, completed the Blood Rite earning the title of Carythian.

find the courage to leave the library for good, support Emerie during an Illyrian uprising, use her research of other universe with Merril to help Nesta as she discovers the Dusk Court with both Made weapons, lead the Valkyries with her sisters in the war with Koschi, see the beauties and wonders of the world outside the library, overcome her trauma from that night in Sangravah, see herself worthy of wearing the priestess stone, write many more stories and chapters of her adventures, have her story told because it truly is one worth telling.

I LOVE it when artists depict a very clear dynamic between lovers, so much so that I could literally ship that couple without even knowing them. I hope I’ve managed to draw enough of the kind of dynamic I envision for Elucien. It’s not the full scope of what I imagine them to be like, but certainly a chunk of it!

And also… I heard that the people who voice Elain and Lucien both ship Elucien. If that’s true, I‘m gonna scream. You know how the voice actor of Zuko made a fan audio in which Zuko confesses his love for Katara? I need something like this for Elucien 😭

Gwynriel WIP. I might have to change some poses and rearrange them all. It’s just not as good as the Elucien piece and it’s bugging me.

okay so one of my favourite things about gwynriel is the fact that the two of them aren’t in love.

I adore the fact that they are just becoming friends at the end of ACOSF and that’s so much space for them to grow both as individuals and eventually as lovers (maybe even mates👀)

The two of them have been tied to each others stories and personalities so many times in ACOSF.

During their first meeting Gwyn witnesses a side to Azriel he purposefully tries to keep hidden away. The darker more volatile side of him when he absolutely slaughters the Hybern soldiers. Despite this she is never scared or judges him for it. She accepts all these sides to him.

On the flip side, Azriel saw Gwyn in her most vulnerable moment, a horrific moment that she never should have gone through. But he never coddles her. He trains her, gives her advice, private lessons, looks at her with quiet admiration and encouragement as she becomes the first Valkyrie in 500 years, and trusts in her and her abilities during the Blood Rite.

Additionally there’s all the little similarities between them.

Their competitive side which is high lighted in ACOSF, Gwyn wanting to wipe the smirk especially off of Azriel’s face, the way they both sing and find joy in music, and most importantly to me, the path of growth and self worth they both need to go on. Not to mention the way Azriel’s shadows sing and dance for not just their master, but for Gwyn as well.

The two of them have flirted once on page and is a moment that Nesta points out, but other than that the two have had friendly interactions, not romantic.

And I love that.

I love that we’ll see them on paper go through all the stages of falling in love. The easy going banter in their friendship (as seen in the bonus chapter), the hesitation as they feel something more but are so worried to ruin a good thing, the confession we’ll get when these two people who never believe they are worthy of love, heal together and find it in each other.

There are so many places where Gwyn and Azriel can go. So yeah, my favourite thing about Gwynriel is that they’re not in love, because I’ll get to read their full journey of healing, acceptance, and love through their eyes, their POV’s, and in their book.
