Ugh it’s Ao3 discourse season again.

Anyway your personal misfortune and lack of donations to your gofundme is not the fault of the people donating to ao3. If someone uses a service and wants to keep it running it’s their right to donate money to it if they damn well please.

Just because it’s a non-essential service doesn’t mean it’s morally wrong to donate to it. Are you gonna slap the money out of my hand when I try to tip my fucking barista too, just because they don’t need it as bad as someone else?

People will gripe and groan and paint literally everyone who uses ao3 in this gross light, like they’re all child predators that get off to incest fic, or something disgusting like that, Jesus Christ.

Ao3 has been a massive good in my life, it’s been a fun creative hobby, I’ve met friends on there, I’ve read some life changing writing that I am so grateful I had free and easy access to. As a gay man it’s very very hard for me to find mainstream content that I enjoy, Ao3 and fanfiction in general has always been there to give me an outlet and allowed me to see myself represented in a way that’s hard to find in regular publications.

I get it I really do. I have been evicted, in credit card debit, been unable to afford food, been unable to refill my daily prescriptions because of health insurance costs, etc. But never once did I put the blame for my problems on people who made the decision to not give me money. Unfortunately we live in a society, and the massive systems of injustice that keep so many people in poverty are difficult to even comprehend let alone dismantle, so instead we pick these easy targets and witch hunt anyone who chooses to give $10 to support their goddamn hobby.

Hisoka- banned from McDonald’s for trying to fight the person in the McDonald’s clown costume

Illumi- banned from Clairs for kicking a child out of the way when the kid reached for the thing he wanted to get for Killua

Chrollo- banned from everywhere he’s a thief Barnes and Nobels for lingering in the Philosophy book section and trying to get into a conversation about the meaning of life with anyone who walked through it

Leorio- banned from the bank for asking for a loan for collage but being dirt poor with no way to pay back

Kurapika- banned from Ace Hardware for biting the metal chains in the aile way

Gon- i dont think he would be banned from anything. Kid’s a sweetheart

Killua- Banned from Hot Topic. Idk what he did but he did it and is now banned from the one store he liked going to

"im gay and im homophobic" posts tumblr user gaysasuke. tumblr user gaysasuke reblogs a post saying "i hate gay people so much its unreal" and tags it "#about me". gaysasuke gets an ask on tumblr.com. its from anon. anon points out that the "i hate gay people so much its unreal" post was made by a white nationalist. the rest of their followers notice this. fellow tumblr user and former mutual of gaysasuke, jotarokujofeetpics, writes the callout. of all the accusations included in the post, things like death threats and planning to send gore to other tumblr users in their private discord dont get as much emphasis put on them as much as things like kinning static shock while white. gaysasuke uploads a picture of themself to dispute the accusation that they kin outside of their race. tumblr user and formal mutual aphobicmiku reverse image searches the picture and points out its stolen from someone else's social media. aphobicmiku was also involved in the plot to send gore to other tumblr users but this is never acknowleged. gaysasuke panics. their inbox is filling up. followers have dm'ed them wondering what is going on. they start a post titled "jotarokujofeetpics callout post" go through their google drive accout and link a folder called "jotarokujofeetpics nword" in the post. the tide has turned.
