Ahmed Sirour could reasonably be considered one of the few Renaissance Men of the 21st century. Already an accomplished professional musician/producer/composer/arranger (completely self-taught with no formal or informal training), he is also a mixing & mastering engineer (courtesy of his postgrad studies at the University of Westminster, London) where he received his Masters degree…although he holds no undergraduate degree at all. With those skills, he has performed live as an artist, as well as a keyboardist in one-off shows for top soul music artists such as Marsha Ambrosius, Dwele, N'Dea Davenport, Mike Phillips, and India.Arie to name a few. As a producer, he has worked with world-renowned DJs such as Rich Medina, DJ Kemit, and most extensively with his Brooklyn compatriot, DJ Spinna, with whom he notably remixed the iconic 1977 recording, "Brazilian Skies" by Bill Summers, for a limited edition vinyl release through BBE Records (London). He also released a slew of critically acclaimed remixes of classic songs by legendary artists that have been played by DJs literally around the globe. He has also been featured on 6 internationally-released and distributed music compilations on both major and independent labels, and still managed to release his own independent projects ("The After 2am Sessions LP" and "This Would Be a Love Song…If Only I Could Sing"). He is also a poet, an essayist/short-story writer, and a freelance entertainment journalist who has interviewed the likes of Teddy Pendergrass, Rachelle Ferrell, Ray J (don't ask lol), B.o.B, and Janelle Monae, to name a few, and covered numerous concerts for review as well as the photography for the event (another of his artistic talents). You can also include graphic design to the list considering he designed the header for this site as well. As it relates to this blog, he has been traveling internationally on his own since 2006 and has since visited 5 of the world's 7 continents (aiming to visit all in ...

One of my ALL-TIME favorite books! The beautiful illustrations, the even more beautiful story. An appreciation of the rich heritage of my African ancestry, a lesson of humility and kindness I learned from, even as a boy, and the type of woman I am attracted to and look for now as a man ;)

One of my childhood stories growing up, it gave me so much pride in my identity and I thank my mother everyday for giving that to me… My beautiful queen

The last EPK of the last album of one of my greatest musical influences and one of the greatest musicians to ever walk the Earth, period! The news of the passing of George Duke hit me so hard, so suddenly that I'm still adjusting, but thank God for him and his music that lives on...and if the afterlife is real, hope you're enjoying your reunion witih Corrine :)

I'm not sure if this was Flamenco or something from Latin America (I still need to get better at differentiating Spanish guitar styles) but it was dope nonetheles! Was randomly stopping to say 'hi" to a friend who lives in the city--before heading to a party I was invited to--who was with her friends in the middle of a non-touristy market square in Catalunya, when these musicians joined us and performed (when offered free drinks as an incentive by my friend and her crew). Late in the video, I join in playing on shaker (percussion) :-)
