a collection of vocal covers of higher by creed. rules: no instrument covers, no full band covers, no karaoke bar cell phone videos (any of these rules can be broken if I find the video particularly noteworthy). i was very tempted to include some good “my sacrifice” and “with arms wide open” vcs but I haven’t yet.
what I like about this list is
this song rips. most people won’t admit this song rips
it’s cool to see a lot of one kind of thing that you don’t usually think about existing at all
there’s so much earnestness. there are some goofy covers but they’re serious about it (spoiler: one guy gets hoisted into a tree)
wondering what they did before/after recording
seeing the houses of guys who sing higher by creed on youtube (the buck head in front of a fish tank)
it’s almost all dudes, almost all white, so many with goatees. not surprising, but I find this an interesting way to model a fanbase, or model how non-rich white men find emotional outlets
lots of dudes just sitting down at the computer to sing for strangers on youtube
the greatest vocal cover artist of all time, correll bufford, made a vid a month ago

“The drought in Central Europe has shrunk the rivers & exposed "hunger stones", where people of the past recorded droughts & the famines they caused. One of the stones recently uncovered in the Elbe is carved with the words, "If you see me, weep."” https://twitter.com/paulmmcooper/status/1033041236674793472?s=21
