Coronavirus cannot be termed a blessing at all as many are posting on Tumblr but it made remote access very popular and united the world via technology in a big way! Many tasks can be accomplished without the expenditure of face to face meetings.

400 cubic metres of processed water isn’t merely “salty water” with some contaminants in it, it’s legally classified as toxic waste, and it’s acidic, which is why pipelines carrying it leak so often.
It’s a byproduct of oilwell injection, mostly frac-water where the high pressure water that gets pumped downwell to blow apart a subsurface formation is pumped back out, but you can’t really do anything with it because it’s literally poisonous.
Processed frack water is brine made with huge amounts of sodium and potassium chloride and lime, in addition to all kinds of other things, so it was already poisonous and toxic before it was pumped downhole, where it mingled with hydrocarbons, residual drilling fluid (which is made with hydrocarbons. It’s called ‘invert’ and it’s basically like really thin highway tar), and SOUR GAS. When sour gas bonds with hydrogen it TURNS TO ACID.
Anyways, 400 cubic meters is 400 000 liters, or 10-15 vacuum truck loads, of toxic waste entering the river that provides Edmonton with almost all of its drinking water, and the authorities are playing it off like it’s no big deal.
