Feeling hopeless? Donate to a Palestinian family in need!
I know a lot of you are feeling grim about the state of affairs in American politics right now but Gaza still needs your help and attention. Small actions like donating $10 to a verified Palestinian gofundme like Aya's (@family-aya ) (line 338 number 334 on the Vetted Gaza Evacuation Spreadsheet) can have a big impact. Whenever you feel sad or scared, consider doing right by the people who have suffered at the hands of both major American political parties. It makes a tangible difference in their lives and you'll start to feel a whole lot better too.

Also, I've seen people say they don't like the ending of the second story (the abusive cop's wife "returning" to him at the front door). I liked it a lot. I also don't think it's supposed to be that literal. David liked the memory of his wife better than his actual wife because her visage was that of one he could control. He could twist and turn and pick and choose and push and pull whatever aspects of her he wanted. The idea of Liz is much more favorable to Liz. The sex tapes scene is really funny. But it's very intentional that one of the only ways we see David feeling a cathartic connection to Liz, is by watching her orgy sex tapes with the other parties involved. It's very voyeuristic and exploitative. The privy of observing but never giving the opposite party the privilege to look back at you. Much like the memory of Liz. A one-sided mirror, a cage. But I digress. The ending works, because after Liz kills herself by means off ripping out her liver, the "wife" that arrives at the door is the perfect wife for David. The one he can control, the one he can measure and exploit and parade and miss. The memory of her is all that's left.
#also it shouldn't have to be said but david beating his wife and being a cop was certainly purposeful on yorgos's part#and of course dog motif water motif williem dafoe playing the role of the father throughout all 3 parts yatta yatta yatta#kinds of kindness

Kinds of Kindness is one of the best movies I've seen in probably years. And it's going to take me a long time to be able to say anything concrete about it because so much goes on. I'll probably watch it a third time through even. It's just that good. I want to understand it inside and out before I feel comfortable fully explaining my thoughts. It's just, wow.
#im sooooooo so soooo glad jesse plemons is working with him again for his next movie omgggg#it makes so much sense it was a screen play too. the camera gets so close to the characters faces and the more “gross” scenes#it feels like. voyeuristic and invasive in a sense. incredibly personal.#idk how to explain it#kinds of kindness
