okay, so i figured out what to do, if you can only use the new editor like me, with no options to toggle the older editor. so x-kit has a new version (xkit re-written) where if your account is new/or suddenly like mine & you can't access the legacy post editor, you can enable 'trim reblogs' on posts with the new xkit.

once you have it downloaded to your chrome or firefox, you can press the purple x (at the top in chrome's case, idk for firefox.) it should be linked within the link above.

in the configurations, it'll be way at the bottom, as the configurations are in alphabetical order.

you can hit the scissors button at the bottom to trim the post!

so it'll look like this when you click on it & then you're good to go!

doriano, during thanksgiving will make a smaller batch of traditional turkey / mashed potatoes / etc, but he doesn’t really invite people over. if anything, modernly, its more of an excuse for a special meal. he maybe will watch a football game or two, but again - no friends invited makes for a lonely game day. so he merely appreciates his time off, and lazes around while enjoying food he’s making. (and will be eating as leftovers for a couple of days…)

when he arrived in louisiana in 1867, it had already been a holiday for four years. so it was established, though when he arrived it was rather new and likely not something he paid attention to. (additionally, it was not federally appointed until 1870.)

historically, he likely shared it with his friend darius young, a young black man, and other workers in similar situations to him, and vera boucher. ( aka @midnightbxte ) maybe he was invited to other people’s houses and vice versa. this was very discreet with darius and other african americans he had known (if he had been invited in the first place). but he genuinely enjoyed the food, and the time together.

something i’ve been thinking about is, how due to slavery not being nearly as common place as it used to be - how doriano has changed his explanations of his backstory. of course he never keeps things really true, people don’t need to know what he’s gone through. but, he used to be able to say master and owner in a slavery sense, because well, that’s what he grew up in and slavery had been commonplace for the majority of his life. he was an ancient greek house slave, then was transferred to doing blacksmith work (still as a slave) among other slaves as well as free men. the closest he can come to that nowadays, is some sort of guardian or parent; still having legal ownership and responsibility of their kid for a while.

i mean this with all the love in the world, but y'all seriously need to start engaging with the people on your dashboard.

i'm calling out everyone here, even myself. it's a widespread attitude in the rpc that's contributing majorly to this place growing more and more inactive.

"teehee i'm a forgetful rper, keep sending me things while i reply to nothing ever" doesn't cut it.

yes, you're forgetful and tired and busy and dealing with health issues. i get that. but you're not the only one dealing with those things. your mutuals are busy and tired and dealing with health conditions too.

it's unreasonable to expect everyone else to keep reaching out to you when you don't reciprocate.

check your dms every now and then, try to contribute to conversations about plotting, send memes and reply to the memes that people send to you.

stop sitting and waiting passively for everyone to reach out first and realize everyone else is doing the same thing.

it's frustrating and exhausting (and frankly disrespectful) to the handful of people in the rpc that do actively try to reach out to others and engage.

and i could go on a tangent on how people writing certain type of muses can get away with doing this because they have people flocking to them wanting to rp (and let's be real, ship) with their muse while people writing other kind of muses have to put 1000% times more work just to get people to reply to their dms. but i'm going to leave it at that.

just take a moment to reflect on this and try to do better.
