Role play blogs aren’t just about clique’s and it shouldn’t be about who you’ve known the longest either. Well it should be but also- there are a lot of shy cinnamon rolls out there waiting for you. But they don’t know that you can vibe with them right off the bat if they’d only send in a meme or a starter or something!
So reblog if you’re the type of blog that is open to NEW friendships even if you are already connected to old ones. New friendships mean new experiences and more people to talk about your muse’s together. This is a clique free blog despite the people who love sending me in asks and there’s much love for them but I’ve also got love waiting for you if only you’d send that one message.

Hi, I’m Nessa, and I draw for money.
My Situation:
I’m the daughter of a single mother, and I live at home with a few roommates in one apartment. We share a room, and each ‘set’ of roommates pays their share of rent and utilities. While my mother works a stable job, the pay isn’t fantastic, and we’re often living on very little money with no wiggle room and it’s always always down to about 20 bucks by the next paycheck. We don’t have any savings, and my mom and I are very worried for the future after our lease is up. I cannot work, so I’m turning to the tumblr fandoms for a source of income.
How to Order:
Message me through tumblr asks, IMs, or E-mail with the type of commission you’ll be getting, reference(s) of your character, a few details about their personality, and your preference of posing. I will keep in contact with you, and checking in on progress is totally encouraged. Be prepared for questions regarding your character!
Payment is done through paypal invoicing, and I will give you the e-mail for this upon request. If you have any questions about this, don’t hesitate to ask! Pay me either before, during, or after work is complete - I trust your word if you order from me.
My prices are kept on the low side as I understand that the majority of my followers, if not the majority of tumblr, is broke as hell. While I’m not in as much of a financial crisis as I could be, the fear is still very much there, and I’d like to take every precaution that I can.
Completion time varies, from a day or two for simple sketches to over a week for more complicated pieces. My energy fluctuates, as well as my motivation, but I will get it done as soon as I am able to.
☆★☆ If purchasing is out of the question, I would appreciate a like or a reblog! You don’t need to follow me to interact with me. Even if you just keep scrolling, I hope tomorrow is kinder to you than today was. ☆★☆

Wound Wisdom: Lacerations, Incisions, Scrapes, and Bruises
Welcome back to Mangled Mondays, where every Monday we talk about another facet of maiming, mangling, mauling, and mistreating your main characters — and all of their friends.
Today we’ll be talking about Lacerations, Incisions, Scrapes and Bruises. For the rest of the Mangled Mondays series, [click here].
Lacerations, Incisions, Scrapes, and Bruises
A great many of the minor injuries our characters suffer fall into this category. A character might cut their leg climbing over a chain link fence or cut their arm open on a broken bottle after taking a spill in the gutter.
First, let’s do some quick differentiation of terms.
Lacerations and Incisions
A laceration is a cut. Some textbooks describe this as having jagged or uneven edges, while others do not.
An incision is also a cut. This is differentiated from a laceration by the edges being smooth and made by a very sharp object such as a scalpel.
Most of the time, lacerations are unintentional, while incisions are made with a purpose in mind.
Both lacerations and incisions are good candidates for healing well, but either may leave a scar, depending on how they are closed, whether the overlying scab is picked at or scraped, and whether the wound reopens. Cuts over joints tend to have longer healing times because the skin is constantly moving and therefore under tension.
Some cuts require formal wound closure, while others don’t. We’ll get to this in the next chapter.
Contusions
Contusion is a fancy word for a bruise. It’s injury to an area without a break in the skin. (The discoloration from a contusion is also known as ecchymosis, but most medical staff would simply say bruise and move on.) Contusions are caused by damage to minor blood vessels called capillaries, which burst. The blood pools under the skin, causing the familiar discoloration.
Bruises may start off as small red spots of irritation, then blossom blue-black within 24 hours. As they fade, they tend to turn yellow-green. This is due to enzymes breaking down the “loose” blood under the skin.
It was once theorized that the age of a bruise could be guessed by its color, but this doesn’t hold up to science.
Hematomas
A hematoma is a pooling of blood under the skin. It’s like a bruise went 3-D: leaked blood forms a “goose egg” under the skin. Hematomas take longer than bruises to dissipate, up to and including months, but do eventually go down by themselves.
Hematomas are usually treated with cold packs for the first two days, which help to shrink the blood vessels and thus reduce the blood pooling. After two days, heat packs are used to dilate blood vessels and help the blood reabsorb into the tissue.
Abrasions
An abrasion is a five-dollar word for a scrape. (Are doctor’s appointments $5 anymore? I really need to keep up on pricing…) Abrasions are prone to scarring, because large areas of skin have been ripped up, and each individual area of scarring tends to run into the next.
Because the damage from an abrasion tends to be superficial but spread out, and the wound edges tend to be rough, abrasions form large, often unified scabs.
Scabs can be treated simply by protecting them with gauze and allowing them to heal. Topical antibiotics might be used. They can become extremely itchy, which can disturb sleep and impair focus. A scab is a natural sort of bandage to protect the underlying tissue as it heals.
Tetanus Vaccines
Tetanus vaccines are important for characters suffering any injury that punctures the skin, whether it’s from a rusted metal nail or a clean fragment of plastic. Tetanus is caused by a bacterium, C. tetani, which is present in soil, manure, and other places where nature comes into contact with humanity.
The danger of tetanus is not in what punctures the skin, it’s in the type of wound. Because it’s difficult to clean the deep portions of a puncture wound, it’s extremely easy for pockets of infection, known as abscesses, to form in the well of the wound. Tetanus absolutely loves puncture wounds.
Guidelines vary, but characters will need a tetanus vaccine or booster every 5 or 10 years, depending on their doctor’s guidelines. Because there’s little harm to vaccination other than stiffness and pain in the injection site, characters are likely to get or at least be offered tetanus vaccines for any form of penetrating trauma. If it’s been less than 5 years since their last booster, they’ll not be offered one; the 5-10 year mark may or may not get a tetanus booster, and 10 or more years since last vaccination will require a booster.
The vaccine itself is known as Td, which is a combination vaccine that prevents tetanus and diphtheria. (Characters who have never had one may be offered a TdaP, which prevents tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis, also known as whooping cough.)
xoxo, Aunt Scripty

A Fond Memory (Draecember!)
It was as vivid an occasion as yesterday’s altercations.
Floral aroma dominated the nostrils - a scent carried joyously by the wind to the gathering below. Draenei of every sort had come to celebrate a rare - sacred - union earnestly fostered by every font of adoration that could be imagined - and nurtured by all the affection that could be mustered. Everything radiated another stroke brighter - every smile bereft of a burden - every gesture carefree. The grasses and flowers - glittering vibrantly with dew of the morning’s deliverance - swayed so welcomingly to the boisterous draenei that chattered and laughed together; as though they were all family. They all knew each other - were so bonded and caring of one another - that no other relationship might be described. Not one note of discord echoed - not one person was malcontent - everyone was… blithe and blissful for those around them - themselves - and the soon-to-be mated duo that had yet to be seen. Underlining every conversation - soothing every ear - and calming every soul was a draenic piano; a grand instrument of elegantly carved marble and trimmed with ornate golden metal that wrapped around and caressed the facets of the most flawless gems to ever emerge from a mine. Each stroke by the pianist - each drum of that hoof against the pedal - let out a melody that made even the distant stars shiver with the beauty of the note. He played to compliment the female nearby who strummed her slender hands on a equally so opulent harp - each pass and pluck of her digits echoed both relaxation and delight; so that the mingling tunes never contrasted and always made sure the mood of event stayed so… peaceful - serene - and perfect.
From on high - high above the crowds below - two perfectly glimmering stares met and locked. They’d walked to the top of the flagstone stairs but minutes prior - and every last second had been spent together from then to now; and would be forever more. They clasped each other’s hands - her palm against his - and solemnly whispered as though warmth and endearment themselves carried those words to the other. She spoke before him - her voice a delicacy he’d never heard before now. It made his smile widen.
“I never thought this day would come. You’ve always been there for me - always made sure I could when I said I could not. So - to that… I say, no one else but you, ever. There is nothing for me but you, ever. Your eyes and your words, forever.
You’re everything I needed most - when I needed that most of all. I promise that I will never falter to preserve that gift you endowed me with, Kaavor.”
Ceremonious tears of radiant happiness and feeling rolled down her prominent cheekbones - a warmth of which she’d never felt with such clarity as now - as those words parted her lips and parsed the gentle tunes that complimented adoring silence. She’d never felt good at taking vows - at uttering dignified words under the pretense of respecting them - but no doubt could shatter her thoughts. It radiated from her heart - that statement - and that feeling was enough.
So - as his mate ceased to speak - the vindicator let his own statement go free; as soft a tone as he could muster - no more did he command his comrades to arms… rather - he rendered a promise onto that which he cherished most of all.
“Aelnii, I vow to always protect you from harm, to stand with you against your troubles, and look to you when I need protection. You are the culmination of a dream coming true and because of you, I can feel myself slowly but surely becoming the me I have always dreamed of being,”
The solemnity of his statement was broken by the flash of a perfect smile - an adoring smile - before he spoke with the smallest iota of humor meant in the most genuine way:
“Forever with you simply will not be enough.”
Aelnii let her gaze falter as his words nearly made her smile turn to rapturous giggling - and giggle she did - till the moment where they pressed their lips together at the highest point of that hill; a pose they could have held until the day the stone beneath their hooves weathered away and crumbled.
Soon - the audience could see them. Aelnii saw the faces of her mother - her father - her little brother on her father’s shoulders… all smiling at her - the former’s faces touched be tears at how far she’d come. A small cheer and applause rose from the crowd - then the sound grew louder as they took the first step down those stairs. It was horrifying then - funny now - that she’d almost fell on that first step. Kaavor had caught her - smiling as the silver jewelry adorning her horns settled and those amethyst gems reflected the luster from his eyes.
At their back as they went to join the rest of the procession - at the other end of the hill - was a shrine of a sort. Carved crystal and stained glass rendered a series of pictograms. The largest at the center showed the proud form of the naaru - below that, the emblem of argus - to the sides were elekk and draenei and talbuk all arrayed to face toward that one revered pillar of their life - their culture.
That memory - against all else - would be with them forever.
… no matter what happened.

Tips On Dialogue
This has been highly requested and a long time coming and finally, ‘tis done. I hope this proves useful to you. Enjoy!
Writing Quality Conversation
Dialogue Should Serve A Purpose
All pieces of dialogue in your story should serve a purpose. You just have to train your writer brain to ask itself what it accomplishes. Here are some examples of how dialogue functions:
To reveal characterization
To establish the mood or tone
To disclose exposition
To create tension or conflict
To advance the plot
To build suspense
To establish foreshadowing
To reveal backstory
Examples Provided From This Source
Dialogue Is Not A Loophole To Tell Instead Of Show
You should not be using dialogue as a way to tell the reader what’s going on or how the setting looks or anything that is usually done in a narrative form. Trying to use dialogue as a way to get out of concisely describing the situation to the reader in an artistic and eloquent way is lazy and once you start, you start to believe you can get away with it more and more. Don’t let that slippery slope get you.
Be Inspired By Real Conversation, Don’t Mimic It
The truth is, your reader will not fault you for leaving out the “um..”s and the “eh..”s and the weird vocal mannerisms that you have assigned to your characters. Leave those for the movie adaptation. Instead, if you character is stopped in the middle of a statement, use “but he-” rather than “bu-” because that will read strangely in your reader’s head and stall them in the process, killing he momentum of the conversation.
If You’re Stuck With A Piece Of Dialogue, Read It Aloud
As a writer, you are also an actor, and if you are stuck on a line and need to act it out a few different ways to match one to your scene, so be it. Say it loudly, say it gravely, say it flirtatiously, whisper it; it doesn’t matter. Try it out yourself and find what works. Your reader is going to be hearing this in their head, so make sure you convey it exactly how you want it to sound.
Remember Who’s Speaking
Your characters are all different people with different word preferences and personal catch phrases and tonal patterns and vocal styles. Use this to your advantage. You are making a movie in your reader’s head, so use these specific characteristics to your advantage.
Dialogue Tags
Don’t Over-Do Dialogue Tags
There are a lot of very interesting and wonderful dialogue tags out there. You do not need to use all of them. If you have a very clear vision of how this line is said and you know that you want your reader to hear it that way, then use a dialogue tag, but if you know they’ll connect the dots from hearing the word “said”, then refrain from using a unique dialogue tag. Part of the fun of reading is having your own special imaginative freedom while consuming the story. Too many dialogue tags strip your reader of that freedom because every detail is directed.
Respect “Said”
Said is not dead. Said is very much alive and well and must not be taken for granted. Love Said and nurture Said and Said will be good to you and your story.
Flow
Use Action Between Periods Of Dialogue (Give Your Characters Stage Business)
This is pretty self-explanatory, but here’s an example of the wonders this simple fix can achieve:
“No,” he said, “I’m not leaving.”
vs.
“No,” He said, fixing his sleeve cuff calmly and meeting her eyes with an intimidating stare, “I’m not leaving.”
Don’t Include Too Much Information In One Conversation
Information in stories is supposed to be distributed evenly over time, not in a single conversation whenever you need to pack a bunch of knowledge into the reader in order for them to understand the next scene. Dialogue is also, again, not the method you are supposed to use in order to tell the reader all they need to know. Information about the setting, world, characters, past, present, and future is all supposed to be revealed through description, non-verbal communication, exposition, narration (if it allows), and other literary tools. Do not use dialogue to tell your reader everything.
Keep It Short
Dialogue, specifically individual pieces of dialogue, are meant to be short, informative, and sweet. Don’t drag it along, don’t make the discussion longer than it has to be, and going back to a previous point, don’t include unnecessary information.
If You’re Wondering How To Punctuate Dialogue, Read This Post by @heywriters
People With Accents Don’t Spell Words Differently
This doesn’t need too much unboxing on its own, but just because someone has a thick British accent doesn’t mean that “you” is suddenly spelled “yeh”. This is incredibly difficult to get used to and can A. Confuse the reader, whether it be the first time they come across it or repeatedly over time, and B. bother the reader so much they end up putting the book down because it’s so exhausting trying to remember that “yeh” means “you”. If your reader has to repeatedly assure their self that yes, that is what they’ve just read, then your story is only going to suffer for it.
*Side note: this does not apply to fanfiction. This is because, most of the time, the reader has an idea of what the protagonist’s voice sounds like and can therefore navigate the writing without a problem because they aren’t trying to form a unique voice in the narrative. Just something I thought I should mention. Sorry if this sounds ridiculous to non-fanfiction readers.
