Woman We Fangirl Over Wednesday
This week we are fangirling over Morgan!
She is the mother of Krissy’s niece, Mila! Anyone who knows Krissy knows that Mila is her favorite little girl in the entire world. She’s so smart, loving, and really caring, and we think that that says a lot about Morgan and how she (and the other people in Mila’s life) is raising her. Morgan loves her babies and you can definitely tell. She’s also a lot of fun. We’ve had girls’ days with her going shopping, out to eat, and we’ve even gone to Painting with a Twist. One of Krissy’s favorite things about Morgan is that she’s not afraid to speak her mind about what she believes in whether that be about breast feeding, human rights, or rape culture. Morgan is also one of Krissy’s musical soulmates. If Krissy loves a song, Morgan probably will too and vice versa.
Here is our interview with Morgan.
1.) What do you fangirl over?
My babies! They are the reason I am here, the reason I wake up every morning (really early!), And the reason I push myself so hard everyday. I honestly don't know what I would do without them. Being a mom is amazing.
2.) What do you love about you?
I love that I have confidence in everything I do. It took me a REALLY long time to learn to love myself and now that I do, it's the best feeling ever.
3.) What's your favorite thing about Texas?
Everything! The southern hospitality, y'all, bucees, sweet tea, the accents.
4.) What are you passionate about?
At the moment, one of my biggest passions is breastfeeding and being a part of the normalization. I will whip a titty out anywhere if my baby gets hungry, but there are so many women out there who have had bad experiences, or are afraid of what people may say, and that is not ok. I am so happy to live in a time where I don't have to hide under a blanket, in my car, or in a bathroom to feed my child #keepcalmitsjustatit
5.) Who's your favorite female artist?
Miley Cyrus of course! I've been with her since Hannah Montana and I will be with her till the end.
6.) What's the best thing about being a woman?
How awesome and amazing our bodies are. We can make a baby, birth a baby, and feed a baby all while laying down. Women are kick ass!
7.) Tell us a music moment that means something to you. (This can be a song, lyric, concert moment, anything.)
Probably would have to be going to the Miley Cyrus concert with Krissy and ericha. Oh and how Ericha cried the whole time!
8.) What inspires you?
My 4 year old, Mila, inspires me daily. She is so smart and such a sweet soul.
9.) Tell us about a female you fangirl over.
My mom! She taught me how to work hard, be kind, but also not to take any shit from anybody.
10.) Tell us a random fact about you.
I'm actually really boring! Lol. I usually go to bed around 8 and before I go to sleep I watch episodes of COPS on demand. I think it's because I got all my partying out of the way at a young age so now I'm an old lady
We hope you’ve enjoyed learning about Morgan.
Until next time.
Dream Big Always,
Krissy & Caitlin

Five Questions with…Friday!
This week’s Five Questions with…features Matt VanHiel. He drums for Troy Cartwright. Just ask him. He’ll tell you.
It took us a minute to accept Matt being the drummer for Troy because we were so partial to Logan, but we’ve come around and we’re so glad that we did. He’s hilarious. Always cracking jokes and making us laugh. He’s also pretty talented at making boomerang videos. Not to mention his skills at drumming.
Here are our Five Questions with…Matt:
What do you fangirl over?
I fangirl over music and food. And my own lovely Annie, she's the best.
We also fangirl over music and food. Anyone that’s read our blog posts would know that. It’s pretty much all we talk about. Also, it’s adorable that you fangirl over Annie.
What's your favorite thing about Texas?
Whataburger, mostly. Also, a beautiful state.
WHATABURGER IS THE BEST! Anyone who tells you any differently is obviously crazy. And you know need that kind of negativity in your life.
What is your favorite moment from shows that you've played?
It's hard to pick a specific one, but any show that the crowd really gets into helps our interaction with them, so it is nice to be able to break loose from the monotony of the everyday lifestyle and adopt this crazy onstage persona. It keeps you humble.
We love love love when the whole crowd is feeling it. There’s definitely this magical moment when you’re standing in the middle of a crowd and everyone is singing along living in the moment with you. We are always in the moment at shows, so it’s fun when everyone else is too.
Who are you listening to that we're probably not but should be?
Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Soundgarden due to the recent passing of Chris Cornell. What a great group, if you haven't listened to much, go check out the album Superunknown.
Of course, everyone knows Black Hole Sun, but we don’t know many Soundgarden songs. We’ll definitely check out more of their music tho.
Tell us something random about you that we don't know.
Random. Hmm... Well I have a very rare heart condition called a Univentricular Heart Disease, just something I've had since I was a kid. My mom was a real trooper and I'm glad she stuck with it in the hardest of times.
This sounds terrifying. Kudos to your mom for being so strong!
We’ll be seeing Matt tonight in Katy at Mo’s Place. Houston people, you should definitely go check it out. Troy is opening for Josh Abbott Band.
If you want to check out more of Matt, go check him out here: https://www.facebook.com/mattvanhielmusic/
We hope you enjoyed reading about Matt!
Until next time.

Women We Fangirl Over Wednesday!!!
This week’s woman that we’re fangirling over is Etta, Krissy’s mom!
Here’s what Krissy has to say about her mom:
My mom is pretty much the best person in the universe. I love her more than anyone and anything (sorry Mila). She’s always been there for me for everything. I know all I have to do is call her and she will sense that something’s wrong and help me fix it. She’s one of my best friends. We regularly hang out and have girls’ days. We go shopping and get our nails done. She encouraged me when I started my weight loss journey and has been there every step of the way. If I end up being half as good a mom as she is when I have kids, then my kids will be the happiest kids. She’s such a good Gammy too. Mila, my niece, simply adores her. She is definitely Gammy’s girl. Also, a lot of people don’t know this about her, but my mom is freaking hilarious.
Here's what Caitlin says about Etta:
From the very beginning of mine and Krissy's friendship, Krissy's mom has always just treated me like one of her own kids. She hangs out and chats with us like one of our best friends. She goes to shows with us and is always having just as much fun as we are. She's a blast! When I was a giant asshole 19 year old and needed somewhere to stay she let me live with them. No questions asked. Not one. No why or what happened or how long. It was just of course you can stay here. She may not have birthed me but I'm super happy I get to be one of her kids!
Things we love about Etta:
She’s hilarious. She has an alter ego named Jessica that loves sprinkles and doesn’t have any money. She’s our favorite.
She’s selfless. For example, when cooking she will make two different lasagnas because her kids want it one way and the “adults” want it a different way.
Also, there’s no one on this earth that makes better country gravy or breakfast gravy than her.
Her favorite movies are the Sister Act movies. She sings along. And sounds good too.
She supports our fangirl life. She even encourages it by helping us look up flights for shows. She’s even gone to Chicago with Krissy, just to go to a Green River Ordinance show.
She loves music like we love music.
Here’s Lynne’s interview:
1.) What do you fangirl over?
Vacations! I work to make money to go on vacations. I only get so many days of vacation a year, but plan all year for our vacation. Everyone gets tired of my planning everything. My husband says I should be a personal vacation planner. I'd probably love it, but not make enough money.
2.) What do you love about you?
I'm a really hard worker. I've worked hard all my life and I take pride in what I do. I'm good at it.
3.) What's your favorite thing about Texas?
The people. People who live in Texas are so proud to be from here. Even my husband who is from another state, says "I'm not from Texas, but I got here as soon as I could"
4.) What are you passionate about?
My family. I love my family so much and I would do anything for my children, granddaughter, husband, and sisters. Family means a lot to me. We've been through so much and still are very close. Not every Mom has children that they actually hangout with. My girls ask me to hang with them all the time.
5.) Who's your favorite female artist?
Trisha Yearwood is probably my all time favorite, but I really like Miranda Lambert too.
6.) What's the best thing about being a woman?
Having children. I absolutely loved being pregnant. (Giving birth not so much)
7.) Tell us a music moment that means something to you. (This can be a song, lyric, concert moment, anything.)
When I was 15 I got to sing at the Little Grand Old Opry. My family was there and it was just really awesome. I won second place. It was cool.
8.) What inspires you?
Accomplishments. I strive to do better each day to reach or exceed goals for production. Pretty sad huh? I'm proud of what I do and what I've accomplished.
9.) Tell us about a female you fangirl over.
Females. My girls. My girls are awesome. They've taught me so much about life. I was brought up to be quiet in public places, wear what you should ( no matter if it's what you like or not) Krissy and Ericha have taught me to "do what makes you happy and screw what people think". Now, I still can't totally do that, but I think I've gotten better. Like I said, my girls are awesome. (Even all my adopted ones)
10.) Tell us a random fact about you.
I keep a lot inside. Things hurt me and you may never know it. People tend to take me for granted because of it.
We hope you enjoyed reading about Lynne as much as we did.
Until next time.
Dream Big Always,
Krissy & Caitlin

Woman We Fangirl Over Wednesday!
This week’s woman that the fangirl over is Ericha, Krissy’s sister!
Here’s what Krissy has to say about Ericha:
Ericha is my best friend. We’ve always been super close. She is my baby sister and I love her so much. We’ve been through a lot together. She’s always been there for me whenever I’m having a bad day. Sometimes it’s like she’s the big sister. I draw so much comfort from her. I love just sitting on the couch and cuddling up to her. We love all the same movies and she never gets mad at me for shaming her when she cries. She loves to cry. It’s kinda her thing. She cries when she’s happy and cries when she’s sad. She cries through every episode of One Tree Hill and I love her for it. I’m not really much of a crier, so I really appreciate her ability to just let it all out. I could go on forever about how much I love her, so I’m going to just keep it short.
Here is what Caitlin has to say about Ericha:
I met Ericha in 2006. We were not immediately friends. It took time and work but we got there eventually. Now I can't picture my life without her in it. I love Ericha like she is my own little sister. I've watched her go from a kinda angry teenager to a strong woman. She's a blast to be around and super easy to talk to. She doesn't sugar coat things, she'll tell you like it is but you still feel like you can tell her anything. I've also never met anyone as protective of the people they love as she is. She's always got your back. I'm so glad we made it through the part where we weren't friends. I'm so happy she's in my life.
Things we love about Ericha:
She can sing along to any song on the radio. And she sounds good too.
She’s hilarious. And understands every pop culture reference.
She’s freaking gorgeous.
She loves with everything she has.
She can make any outfit look good because she owns it. We call her look Trashy Chic.
She's incredibly photogenic. I don't think I've ever seen a bad picture of her.
Here’s our interview with Ericha:
1.) What do you fangirl over?
Probably my cats, especially LB (the male cat) I've always had other pets but my cats are like my children. I fangirl over them all the time and have mini photo shoot with them and every time I wake up/or come home and see them is like the first time seeing them and I fall in love with them all over again. Yes, I am a crazy cat lady.
2.) What do you love about you?
The one thing I love about me is also probably one of my biggest flaws. I forgive people to easily. A lot of people may see that as being weak, but it takes a tremendous amount of strength to forgive people who have hurt you or betrayed you and your trust. Also, I'm very good at understanding people point of views or perception of the world that are different than mine.
3.) What's your favorite thing about Texas?
It's home. It where I was born and raised. Where all my loved ones are (most of them).
4.) What are you passionate about?
I'm passionate about helping others to be more tolerant to what they don't know or understand. Educating them instead of attacking them or forcing it down their throats.
5.) Who's your favorite female artist?
There's a few but at the moment probably Stevie Nicks. Her music makes does something to my soul and I just adore her.
6.) What's the best thing about being a woman?
Everything.
7.) Tell us a music moment that means something to you. (This can be a song, lyric, concert moment, anything.)
I was at an event/party on New Year's Eve one time and at the time I think I was really depressed and at midnight the DJ played a remix of the scientist by cold play and at that moment right there during that song everything I was worried about or depressed about just stopped and for those few mins I was over flowed with happiness and I cried in front of hundreds of people. I don't think the really noticed but I needed that song right there in that moment.
8.) What inspires you?
People. People I love, people I barely know, people I don't know and will probably never meet. Also, my cats.
9.) Tell us about a female you fangirl over.
Probably my mom. She's the best woman I know. She's super mom, she's worked hard for so long to take care of our family and she's so generous and caring. She's fun and has always been there for me and my siblings no matter what we put her through. She's my rock and I love her so much.
10.) Tell us a random fact about you. I suffer from depression and anxiety.
A lot of people don't really know that about me because I've gotten so good at hiding it. I sleep for days on days because I can't force myself to get out of bed most of the time. It used to be a lot worse when I was younger but with some therapy I found that I need to talk about my feelings and not keep them in because that can destroy you from the inside. It's never really gonna go away it's always gonna be a part of me, but I've learned that it’s not constant, I won't always be like that.
Anything else you'd like to talk about?
Adriel. Love of my life. The man that's takes care of me day in and day out. Gives me everything I want or will want and works hard to keep me happy. I appreciate him more than anyone. He's so strong, kind, loving and can make me laugh for hours on in. He deserves the world the moon and the stars. He's a great father to our cats (especially little piddles, that's his daddy's girl). I love him so much and I honestly don't know where I would be without him.
Hopefully after reading this, you love Ericha as much as we do.
Until next time.
Dream Big Always,
Krissy & Caitlin

The Roosevelts - Houston, TX - 6/8/17
At this point, it’s been so long since we’ve been to a show in Houston that we didn’t even remember what it was like anymore. We’d never been to White Oak Music Hall before. It’s so cute! We love how clean and modern looking it is. But the installations all have a rustic look to them. Bonus: Krissy got to see her friend Friedman that she hasn’t seen in forever because apparently he works there. Also, the jaeger bombs were delicious. Krissy really appreciated that they were offered as a cocktail as well as a shot.
Honestly we didn’t really enjoy the opener that much, but that might be because we were sitting on the side of the building. The sound seemed a little off. They weren’t terrible, we just weren’t interested.
We’ve both seen The Roosevelts before so we were pretty excited to see them again. They are really talented and always put on a good show. You can’t help, but sing along and dance to the music. The whole crowd was feeling it.
Here’s a video of their song Hard to Believe. It’s just a clip tho because it’s from when we went live on our instagram.
youtube
It’s been a while since the band that we were going to see was the headliner, so it was pretty exciting knowing that everyone was there to see The Roosevelts. It felt like everyone knew the lyrics and we were all a part of something awesome. There were moments when you would just make eye contact with another person in the crowd who was just jamming along with you. We love that kinda stuff. There were also moments where we would make eye contact with Jeff, their keyboard player, and the same the would happen. We’d both just be jamming and enjoying the moment.
Here’s a clip from Runaround:
youtube
Notice the dude on the bottom right. This guy was getting it the whole time. He was almost as fun to watch as the band.
Here’s Cold Sheets. It’s one of our favorites. Warning: it will get stuck in your head. We’re really impressed by Jason’s ability to double fist both a guitar and a mandolin.
youtube
We also got a video of them playing Ashes acoustic.
youtube
Even tho we didn’t get a video of it, we decided that their song “This is Life” is our theme song for 2017. It perfectly describes how we feel when we are road tripping to go see a show. And as you know, our goal for 2017 is More Shows More Cities 2017.
Sadly the concert ended too soon, but the guys came out to talk with the crowd. We got pics with both Jason and James.
We already can’t wait to see them again.
Until Next Time.
Dream Big Always,
Krissy & Caitlin

Woman We Fangirl Over Wednesday!
This week’s Woman We Fangirl Over is Crystal!
I, Krissy, met Crystal in August 2002 when I started college. We instantly became best friends, even tho sometimes it was kinda tough. I was kinda mean, and I had never met anyone as sensitive as 16 year old Crystal. We’ve been best friends for almost 15 years now and will be celebrating our Friendship Quinceañera later next month. She is what I consider to be my Hetero Life Partner. We’ve had our share of ups and downs, and lord knows I’ve put her through a lot. She’s one of my best friends and will continue to be for the rest of my life.
Caitlin met Crystal in 2008 when Crystal was living in Fort Worth and came to visit me here in Houston. They, however, were not instant best friends. They competed a little bit over who was my best friend. Since then they have become best friends outside of me. Of course, they both must like me better than the other one tho. And now we are the three best friends that anyone could have.
Here are a few tidbits that we love about Crystal:
She is the knower of all things books and can recommend books to you based on your personality and things that you like. You will love every book she recommends to you.
She loves to cook. And is good at it too. She’s always cooking for us and more importantly catering to our likes and dislikes when it comes to food. And Krissy is a super picky eater.
She’s super crafty. She’ll make the best decorations for your birthday party/wedding shower/baby shower.
She loves gift giving and gives the best gifts. She plans that shit out and it’s always super well thought out and, of course, you’ll love it.
She’s one of our very best friends and we love her until the end of time.
Even tho she thinks we are crazy most of the time, she will let us fangirl for hours about our adventures and will be genuinely interested in what we have to say (even if she’s heard it already…about 5 times…from each of us).
Anyways…enough gushing over Crystal. Here are our questions:
1.) What do you fangirl over?
Books, coffee coffee coffee!, music...did I mention books?
It's an interesting question to think about because the answer now is different than it was 5 or 10 years ago. I've always had this deep love and appreciation for books and music, but for a long time, I fangirled over music more than anything. Listening to a great song on repeat endlessly, going to every concert I could afford...music was my favorite thing. Now that I'm older and I'm lucky enough to spend my days surrounded by books (and get paid for it), books have become the top thing I fangirl over. I have spent hours telling others (and my poor husband) the entire plot to countless books that they've never heard of and usually care nothing about. I talk constantly about books I've read, loved, hated, and books I haven't read, but really want to. It is not an exaggeration to say books are the biggest, most important objects in my life. And also coffee. I definitely fangirl over coffee at 6 am when I'm sleep deprived and have a long commute to work.
2.) What do you love about you?
I love that I've come to a point where I'm so comfortable with being myself. I love that I'm proud of who I am and I'm not ashamed or afraid to be that person (most of the time. Everyone has a bad day).
3.) What's your favorite thing about Texas?
Texas is home. No matter where I go, or where I imagine I want to travel to or possibly live, I always find myself back here with my amazing friends and family.
4.) What are you passionate about?
You had to know that the answer to this was going to be books. After all, I am a librarian (and I gave away this answer with the first question). I can't get over how much I love to read. I love to be entertained, to think, to feel, to get lost in these amazing worlds with characters who are complex and three dimensional. A good book does all of these things. A great book buries itself in your heart and your mind and you find yourself re-reading it again for the 10th, 12th, or 20th time regardless of the fact that your to-do read list has almost 500 books in it. I'm always looking for my next great book.
My passion for books has become such a force of nature and has evolved so far past my own love and enjoyment of reading. I find myself more and more becoming an advocate not just for literacy but for helping people find their own great book(s) that change their lives. As a young adult librarian and formally a children's library assistant, I have had extraordinary opportunities to share my passion for the written word with so many teens and children. It's such a rewarding and humbling experience to see a child or a teen find their own passion for reading. I get to see them fangirl (or boy) over books and I can't describe how amazing this is.
5.) Who's your favorite female artist?
I love Michelle Branch. She has been my favorite female musician since I was in high school. Her songs have this magical quality to them. She doesn't just write a standard break up or love song. She layers her story and emotions in these beautiful words that feel so genuine and relatable.
6.) What's the best thing about being a woman?
I consider the best thing about being a woman to also be one of the worse: being underestimated just because you're a female. It's complete bullshit that it's 2017 and there are still so many equality issues plaguing us, but there is one plus side to being underestimated and that's having the ability to surprise people and the opportunity to teach them something. As a woman, I love having the opportunity to show someone how smart and capable and resourceful women can be... Which is just as smart and capable and resourceful as our male counterparts.
7.) Tell us a music moment that means something to you. (This can be a song, lyric, concert moment, anything.)
The music moment that means the most to me is very personal and comes from one of the worst events in my life, so bear with me. My stepdad Darrell committed suicide in April 2012. It goes without saying that my family and I were shocked and devastated. Recovering from this, or more accurately, learning how to manage a grief that never really goes away, tested all of us. I found solace in music. One of the songs that I found myself listening to over and over again was Marching On by OneRepublic. There was something about this song, about the message it carried that brought me such comfort. I'm not exactly sure when, but at some point after this, I went to a OneRepublic concert with Krissy. They played Marching On and I remember standing next to Krissy with my eyes closed and feeling the music vibrate in my chest with tears streaming down my face. This felt like one of the first moments that I could grieve in my own way that was just about my sadness and hurt and anger. It remains one of the most memorable moments of my life.
8.) What inspires you?
Good books, good music, and good people.
9.) Tell us about a female you fangirl over.
Emma Watson, hands down. There are so many things to fangirl over when it comes to this actress. She's a Goodwill ambassador for the UN, an advocate for gender equality, a book lover... Also, she played Belle in the live action Beauty and the Beast and let's be honest, Belle is the best Disney Princess.
10.) Tell us a random fact about you.
I'm a hardcore daydreamer and spend a lot of time coming up with random, ridiculous stories in my head.
We hope you’ve loved reading about Crystal as much as we did. Trust us when we say that if you knew her, you’d be fangirling over her too.
Until next time.
Dream Big Always,
Krissy & Caitlin
