I can’t believe it’s been 1 year Audrey had her engine replaced and a new part added. It’s been a whirlwind of an adventure this past year with some unexpected events, but I’m happy to say that Audrey is doing fantastic and probably better than when I first met her.
We decided to celebrate her 1 year by going to her favorite place and the happiest place on earth.
Audrey and I want to thank everyone in our lives that have supported us in every way possible. We couldn’t have made it this far without your support. Thank you!

Audrey somehow managed to get more pale while she was in sunny California. 😂
Finally out of the hospital after what feels like 100+ labs and procedures. Audrey is looking forward to sleeping through the night without people waking her up.

Audrey ordered the hangover package today. She gets IV hydration and a foot massage🤣 I’m pretty sure feet massages were not in my nursing competencies.
The team is just waiting for her kidney labs to get back to normal.

Audrey has to lay flat for a while so I have her set up for success 😂
Biopsy just got done. Now we wait and see what that shows.

Audrey missed the hospital food so here we are, again. Little did she know they won’t give her much. That’s probably why she looks so mad. It couldn’t possibly be the fact that I’m taking a picture of her 😇
She had a large fluid pocket next to the kid that the team thinks affected her kidney function. They drained a lot of fluid out and is now waiting to go get a kidney biopsy. The fluid analysis and biopsy will determine the rest of the care she receives.

We’re at Audrey’s stabby stabby 🔪appointment (heart biopsy). Docs were happy with Audrey’s progress in clinic with no major changes to the treatment plan. They just adjusted some meds.
On a side note… it looks like our eyes are the same size. I think Audrey is messing with me🤣

Audrey and the kid signed a new collective bargaining agreement today. 🤝 We agreed to change some meds that were stressing the kid out and the kid decided it’ll get back to work. Crisis averted! 🎉
Now we have to figure out what to do for the rest of the week. 😂

Aaaannnd we’re back with our regularly scheduled programming… a week early 😯
We’re heading back to LA a week earlier than scheduled. Audrey’s kid decided to go on strike to protest it’s pay and working conditions. 😆 We’re working on a new collective bargaining agreement with her treatment team.
In other words… Audrey’s labs didn’t look great so her team wanted her to come back to get reassessed. 😕

On the road again… We stopped at Vegas to stretch and walk around.
Since Audrey had a change of hearts🫀 I didn’t know if the original wedding contract was still valid 🤣 Elvis had left the building so we decided the old contract still holds up.

Happy birthday to this incredible woman.
It’s been 60 days since she had her old heart ripped out and new one put in with a new kidney she refers to as “the kid”
59 days since I was told the new organs were working well, but she had a stroke and couldn’t move her right arm.
48 days since she was moved out of the ICU where she spent 12 days.
40 days since was discharged from the hospital where she spent 20 days. (I’m missing a visitor pass from the day I spent 24hrs at the hospital thinking she’ll be discharged)
Audrey can now outpace me on our walks together and doesn’t have to take any breaks like she used to before. Her right arm function is about 75-80% and she can even write with it (legibly, unlike me).
After multiple biopsies and follow up care, she received the best birthday present she could have asked for: her biopsy and labs on Monday all looked good. Since her next follow up will be in month, the team is letting us return home and come back for follow up care.
This new adventure isn’t over, but we look forward to the comforts of home.

A short day at the office today: labs and clinic.
I’m calling this picture: Audrey doing occupational therapy with her right arm. Just ignore the fact that she’s cooking breakfast for me and focus on the fact that she’s using her right arm to cook breakfast for me 🤣

We walked to the Farmer’s Market today.
No biopsy this week, just labs and clinic on Wednesday. Labs and biopsy are still looking good. Audrey’s heart and kidney team are both very pleased with her progress. Audrey has better movement in her right arm so I need to be careful of 2 arms hitting me instead of 1 🤣
I caved and got a haircut. I was messing with my hair too much so Audrey made me get one. I’m blaming her for the haircut, not my lack of will power 🤣

Biopsy and clinic day. Waiting for the staff to take Audrey for her weekly stabbing 💉
Her official Cath report from a week ago isn’t posted, but she was told her coronaries looked good.
P.S.: I’m tired so I’m hoping I don’t wake up with a narcan needle in my arm.
P.P.S.: My hair is getting crazy, but I’m going to try out the long hair until we get back to CO.

Audrey is waiting to get her sleepy meds while they take a look at her coronary arteries. I’m hoping they won’t give a ton of meds since she’s a cheap date.
I probably should wear that yellow band for her. And yes, those bruises are all from her hospital stay. My bruises are from messing with her 🤣

Lazy morning with the wife. Lazy for me, at least 😮 I kept messing up pancakes so she took over. I’m going to call this therapy, but I also don’t know if she needs a support person anymore. I feel very inadequate right now 🥺😅😂
LHC with IVUS scheduled for Tuesday so we’ll keep up with the walking today and take it easy tomorrow.

It rained for two days straight so we had to make up for lost PT time. We walked 3+ miles today and Audrey got to see her friends 🐒🦒🦛🦘🐘 Her blood sugar dropped so she even got to have a treat 🍦I even found a sign with my motto 🍚
No concerns on labs and biopsies so far. There was a brief discussion of doing IVIG and Rituxan x1 for an antibody that showed up right after transplant, but we haven’t heard anything so I don’t know that it will happen. She was already treated for the antibody of concern in the hospital and is on a medication that is thought to prevent the antibody from doing any harm.

Just morning appointments for labs and clinic today.
I didn’t feel like cooking so I took her to eat one of her favorite foods, spicy tofu soup. It’s the little things that keeps her happy and, more importantly, not get stabby with me 😊 🔪
