Adri looked up from her attempt at a cool lizard, but her drawing skills weren't the best so it kind of just looked like a turd with legs. "Uh, just doodling. I could draw you though uh..." she waited for him to supply his name. "Cool. Oh, and Adri, b-t-dubbs." She got a fresh piece of paper and concentrated super hard so that this time it didn't look like (literal) shit before she presented it to her partner. "There you go," she said as she presented him with a crude, mostly cloud-like looking drawing of an ewe.
daniel was almost a regular at the blue note ; there was nearly always good music and it wasn't far from his apartment. clearly, he wasn't enough of a regular to be aware that there was a speed dating event happening. had he known, he naturally wouldn't have stepped foot in the place's vicinity -- let alone inside. still, he was too polite to say no and found himself roped into the event, forced to 'enjoy' several versions of the same awkward conversation. danny extended a small smile as he sat, confused and then slightly glad to see the person opposite was not paying him any attention. "what're you drawin'? ...if you don't mind me askin'," he worked up the courage to question eventually, curiosity getting the better of him.

Adriana looked up as the other sat across from her. "Nah, this whole thing really just isn't my thing." She paused her drawing for a moment and leaned forward with her hand outstretched for a shake. "Adri. And self-proclaimed boring people usually aren't the boring ones." She leaned back in her chair and picked up her pen again. "Bet I could draw you with my eyes closed," she said as she pointed her pen at him for emphasis, before shielding what she was scribbling on the paper as she did just that. A few moments later she dropped her pen down and opened her eyes again with a "Boom," and a smug look on her face as she slid the paper over to him, presenting him with a near-perfect graffiti-styled letter "U."
Jasper was sick of his friends always being on his back about how he wasn't getting out there enough to meet someone. To be fair he did seem to have some bad luck when it came to dating because a lot of women didn't like how dedicated he was to his job or how much time it took up. Here he was though, going to the speed dating at the blue note so that he could his friends to leave him alone about it. He sat down at his new destination and he looked at the woman across from him who was doodling on a piece of paper. "Must be some boring people coming by, huh. Sorry to disappoint but I don't know if I'm going to be any different." He laughed softly.

Who: Adri & [Open muses 25-36] ( @bhqextras )
Where: Speed Dating @ The Blue Note, Queens
Adri was all but tied to the chair at this speed dating event by one of her roommates. Apparently they thought she needed to get out there more like that. So what if she didn't typically go on dates or have sleepovers? She was still perfectly capable of meeting people on her own! Small talk wasn't really her thing, and the time limit was barely enough to get to know someone. She was toughing it out though, but by the fifth swap she was kinda over the whole thing, so she grabbed some paper and started to doodle, barely giving her newest partner a glance as they sat down across from her

There were always so many events going on that Adri barely could keep up with them all. The day she decided to walk The High Line just happened to be the day of the Pumpkin Spice Off, and even though pumpkin spice wasn't really her thing, she was convinced by a savvy young entrepreneur with a QR code sign to visit her dad's table. "You're not gonna get many votes with that attitude. Poor girl's grindin' out here and you're not trying to sell me on why I should vote for you. So tell me: why should I try your-" she looked at what he was offering, "log lookin' thing."

location: Pumpkin Spice Bake Off ; The High Line
while this wasn't typically his type of thing, when natalie came home raving about some pumpkin spice baking challenge and begging him to enter, cody couldn't exactly come up with an excuse not to. she'd caught him off guard with the bombardment; charlie had picked her up one random morning when he'd needed a break, and he was honestly just waking up - and way too high - when she came flying through the door and launched into an overly winded explanation of the thing. he'd said yes, mostly, to shut her up.
truth be told, cody was actually a remarkable baker. he was gifted in chemistry, after all, and he considered the hobby similar enough to mixing drinks - albeit, with a few extra steps. natalie had never had a store bought birthday cake in her life, and she always encouraged him to try new recipes. so he committed to the task, so here he was with a pumpkin roll sliced into pieces in front of him and a second roll in an ice chest at his feet. just in case. he looked rather unenthused about the whole thing, but natalie was happy enough to do the upselling on her own. she was wandering the park, never straying from his line of sight, and picking random strangers to strike up a conversation before inevitably dragging them over to the bake off and straight to her father's table.
❝ sorry about her, ❞ he muttered, nodding at the ten-year old as she skipped away from them. ❝ i don't get out much, and i definitely don't usually bake for other people, so she's just really excited. hope it's actually worth your departure from your plans for the afternoon. ❞

Adriana was always down for an adventure, even if it was kinda still in her own backyard. Unable to convince any of her friends to come with her, Adri was paired up with a random person, and half paid attention as they hyped themselves up. Once her partner seemed to finish Adri chimed in with a, “Two things: One, just think of it like it’s the single rider line at Disneyland and you’re like, ultra special and get to do the experience ahead of other people and two-” she punctuated as she paused for a moment to fasten her lifejacket with a satisfying ‘click’, “we’re both gonna fit in this boat so we don’t need to worry about a Jack and Rose kinda sitch happening.”
open starter featuring gabriela 'gabi' mendoza, at the free community paddling event on the bronx river. @bhqextras .
“i am here to try something new. i am here to try something new. i am so here. to get out of my box.” she had never been an athlete, falling behind in school gymnasium soccer and volleyball, the one referees would put out in phys - ed class because of her slow running of the mile. asthma had been the main culprit later on, but at the time? humiliating. so, here she was, adorned in a bright yellow life vest that did nothing for the orange square - shouldered blouse she had chosen. doing her best. gripping the paddle and standing beside the assigned canoe and so not trembling in her knees. “this is meant to be a bonding experience. i am cool - headed and confident. everything is fine.” speaking aloud to both herself, and to the person who was doomed to be her paddling partner for the duration of the thirty minute jaunt.

[BIO]
• During her formative years, the most popular comment Adriana received was ‘thank god you’re pretty.’
• Born into a family of multi-generational wealth, it was expected of her to continue her family’s legacy in the great wide net of business ventures they were entangled in.
• However, in order for that to happen 1) Adri would actually need to care and 2) she’d need to get through school first. School was never an environment that Adri was able to thrive in; her brain just didn’t work that way. Did she fall asleep in class on more than one occasion because of her nocturnal tendency to stay up way too late tinkering with her keyboard? … Actually let’s not finish that thought. Regardless, it didn’t mean she wasn’t smart.
• At nearly nineteen, Adriana ended up selling most of her things and moving across the country with a stacked bank account and no plan. Fate or something had a plan apparently though, because not only did she stumble upon a band's tryouts, but she booked it and has been living with this small group of misfits ever since.
• Adri has kept the fact she comes from money to herself. Ever since living in New York she’s bounced from the usual customer service and freelance jobs, but she’s also quietly paid off the difference in rent increases and bs fines and booking fees behind her roommates’ backs. What they don’t know won’t hurt them, right?

my brain can't comprehend that there are people who don't listen to music every day, or at least often. what do you mean?? do you just walk somewhere and instead of listening to music... you think?
