“Okay - I believe you.” Adriana told her although in truth, she wasn’t so sure she believed the blondes words. “But you know, you don’t need to lie to me if you aren’t right?” She placed a hand on her shoulder.

Rowan: Some people are into public humiliation. I think the real fire comes out when someone gets too aggressive with your kid. I'll refrain from murder for now though.

Adriana: Someone ought to tell those people that that ain't normal. Chances are, if that's going to happen it's probably the ref's kid. There's usually some kind of bias when it comes to this kind of thing - least in the movies. I'm sure it translate to real life too.

Adriana snorted. “More than half of our patrons as just as fucked up in the head and they can’t even admit such a thing.” She leaned back against the brick wall as a tired sigh left her lips. “You don’t have to say yes to everyone of them, you know? You have every single right in the world to be picky.” She wasn’t going to talk him out of working, of course. They both knew damn well how hard it was to struggle but still, a part of Adriana felt sorry for the ones who slept with the clients. Especially when she had managed to set her own boundaries and had the ability to say no.

“It’s different here. Everyone knows we’re screwed already. Kinda different when you’re out there in the real world.” Adriana scoffed although her comment had her wondering what the real world actually was now. “You’re not a vending machine, Byron. Just because someone puts a dollar in your doesn’t mean they get free reign of your body.”

“Right...” There was a mixture of motions, Adriana never quite knowing how to react in these situations. Grateful for the warning, concern for the other woman so she settled on “Are you okay?”

Reid wasn’t the type to show anger so while he felt it with what she was saying, he kept himself calm. “I don’t know what or who hurt you that you find the need to twist a helping hand into something it isn’t but if you feel the need to suffer alone then go at it,” he put his money down. “Can I pay for my own drink and tip the guy first?”

Adriana could feel the anger bubbling away at her, no longer able to just sit still and wallow in it. “You know what, just forget about it. You can stay.” She reached for her own bag, shoving some of her own money on the counter before she hurriedly reached for her phone. The time flashing against the screen caught her eye as Adriana let out an irritable groan. “Fucks sake, I’m late.” She hastily got on her feet and grabbed her jacket.
