One thing Adrian never thought he'd be grateful for was the fact that he wasn't at Court any longer. His life was so much easier compared to how everyone else's was. Simple and easy but Adrian was settled down and he honestly couldn't have been happier. He was stable. Something he never was at Court. Sydney had truly helped Adrian in becoming the best version of himself — the mood stabilizers also did a great job at leveling out Adrian's emotions and of course, there weren't any lingering Spirit effects and Adrian certainly didn't hear his dead aunts voice in his head any longer which was also a plus.
"Ah yes. Sounds like it's been hectic over at Co—" Adrian began but soon enough was cut out by the hollering of Eddie.
"Declan! No! It's nap time!" Eddie exclaimed as a more than wide awake Declan in nothing but a diaper, began running through the lobby until he finally saw his parents and made a beeline straight towards them.
"Da-Da!" Declan exclaimed, his little feet thumping on the floor as he ran as fast as those little legs would carry him. Adrian couldn't help but burst out into exuberant laughter.
"Declan! Your pajamas!" Eddie scolded, holding out a warm onesie.
"Maaaaaa-maaaaa!" The little dhampir screamed out joyously as he reached the couches and flung himself back on the couch in between his parents in attempts to hide from Uncle Eddie.
"Rosie! Tell Uncle Eddie!" Declan squealed as if telling Rose to defend him from Eddie and his attempts to dress him.

Lissa had missed all of her friends that had become scattered through the year and fallen out of contact as adults always tended to. She also wanted to give her two guardians a break together.
Lissa arranged for everyone to go to a winter retreat where very one could relax and have fun. She also wanted Adrian there having seen so little of him. She dialled his number in a quiet moment at court, sighing from the work. She needed a break from being Queen Vasilisa. She wanted to go back to just being Lissa.
Rose stood in the corners of the room watching everything always warily and trying to not eavesdrop on her phone message. She missed her fiancé, he was busy watching Christian they had barely spent any time together.

As soon as Sydney had taken a seat, Adrian seemed to follow suit not long after beside her. His arm immediately shifted behind Sydney, his hand gently caressing the blondes shoulder as Lissa spoke, Adrian may not have ever liked politics but well... he grew up in perhaps the most political moroi family there was. Before Adrian had gotten 'disowned', all he was surrounded by was politicians and lawyers. "Well... my Aunt was grey before she was even in her forties so if that's any indication how stressful being Queen is... plus my old man was grey... well I think by the time I hit the ripe age of seven." Adrian laughed that rich laugh of his.
Sydney seemed intrigued by Christian's little rant about the trainings and immediately Jill had come to mind. She was always quite a fighter in her own right. Even in Palm Springs Jill was always eager to defend herself. In Jill's mind, she would never fit the role of a Princess. "Oh we absolutely love Eddie. I'm glad he was sent to Palm Springs when we were all stationed there after... the attack." Sydney stated, not needing to go into depth.
"Those two basically became siblings in their own right," Adrian mused regarding how close Eddie and Sydney were. "Ah yeah, Casanova's great. Him and Jill are still together too so I was kind of bummed when Jill couldn't make it... and with the medication she can't exactly use the bond to see him either..." Adrian explained.

Adrian's lips and nose scrunched at Lissa's statement about no playing inside... not that Adrian knew the first thing about sports but he always saw these things in movies. It was incredible how much he was allowed to get away with when Tatiana was Queen. "I don't know the first thing about sports anyways so... eh." Shrugged the Moroi as he tucked his hands in his pockets. While everyone seemed eager to dress down, Adrian was more than happy to remain in his dress pants and silk button up.
"If driving people crazy was a career, Adrian would be my chauffeur," Sydney mused as he finally joined the rest of the group, placing a light kiss against Adrian's left cheek. This only earned a bright grin from the Moroi.
"What she means to say is she's just always crazy about me," Adrian quickly covered with his wit as those emerald hues peered down at the blonde, all of the love in the world twinkled in his eyes as he held Sydneys gaze. There was a moment of silence between the two before it was Sydney who tore her gaze away but Adrian remained staring at his wife.
"Oh we've both been working. Adrian's actually a part-time art teacher now. I'm currently in college and working at a history museum." Sydney gave a brief run down.
"And chasing the little one around," Adrian added on.
"And chasing the little one around," Sydney agreed with an amused laugh as her attention went to everyone else, "what have you all been up to? I'm sure all of your lives have been hectic with Court life," Sydney stated as she was the first to take a seat down in the large lobby that wad filled with nothing short of extravagant furniture. It took everything in Sydney to not rant and rave over the architecture and design of the entire resort. It was stunning.

"I'm sure that will be fine, thank you," Sydney spoke graciously after giving Adrian a moment to respond but it was clear he was too wrapped up with entertaining their son to really pay attention. Sydney glanced over at Eddie as all of the other guardians split off but the Dhampir shook his head as if silently indicating that he was going to remain with the family. If Eddie didn't have to leave them, he wouldn't. Not with all that those three had been through.
As the group split, Adrian, Sydney and Eddie headed off towards their room to set their bags and of course, Sydney insisted on unpacking everything in the most organized manner, color coordinating every little thing.
"Sweetheart, we don't need to waste time on organizing everything," Adrian pointed out as he finally set down Declan, letting him run around the room.
"If I don't organize everything then you'll be losing everything," Sydney stated pointedly towards her husband.
".... Only things that don't matter," Adrian responded.
"It's a wonder you haven't lost your head yet then," the ex-alchemist retorted.
"Wow. Ouch. I may be a creature of the darkness but we have feelings too you know," a statement that caused Sydney to laugh and roll her eyes. The couple took about twenty more minutes to unpack before Eddie assured his close friends that he could put Declan down for a nap and watch over him. After that, Adrian had rushed off and only then had he realized how empty the place was... the whole building all to themselves. Ah yes. The perks of royalty.
"Hey guys!" Adrian hooted, "you think we could play baseball in here? Or... football... or whatever sport includes shooting balls into a basket."

"He's a lot better at it than I am," Sydney mused. As much as she loved Declan, Adrian seemed to be more of a natural with the whole parenting thing somehow. All Adrian did was dote on the little guy. Plus Adrian wasn't nearly as busy as Sydney was with work and college. Having a part time job made it easier for Adrian to go home and care for his son.
"Yes. Very excited for the day that comes," Christian stated flatly, clearly not as hyped for this trip as everyone else was.. then again Adrian and Christian still had a bit of a strained... relationship.
As if on cue as Dimitri spoke, Sydney began ushering her husband and off everyone went to their designated vehicles. Eddie and a Court Guardian followed after Adrian and Sydney. Soon enough they were all taken off to a private jet where they all soon boarded. The flight took no more than two hours. Once the group landed they were then once again shoved into more vehicles to head towards their final destination. Once they all arrived, Adrian was more than happy to get out and stretch his legs. He immediately tightened Declan's blanket around him as they all headed into the resort.
"Haven't been to one of these since... well..." Adrian glanced over at Rose and Eddie as a sardonic smile tugged at his lips, "since I met you guys."

As Lissa suddenly jumped into Adrian's arm, with cat-like reflexes, his other shifted away from Lissa to ensure that Declan wasn't caught in the crossfire of the hug and squished or accidentally hurt. Not that Declan couldn't handle it but it was better safe than sorry. "Hey Cousin," Adrian mused through a chuckle as he hugged his friend right back. Being in this palace was a lot harder than it once was, hell, this place used to be nothing but a playground for Adrian growing up but now that Tatiana was gone? Things had certainly changed. It helped if Adrian only thought of Lissa as his friend rather than the new Queen.
"We should get going if we're going to check in on time," Sydney had responded once all of the greetings were over with, keeping everyone on track as she usually did. Something she'd learned to do a lot living with Adrian.
"Well, I certainly hope you didn't tell everyone where you were going—" Adrian started as he pulled away and those vibrant green hues scanned the room before a clear frown overtook his expression, "Jailbait not coming with us?" Adrian questioned over to Lissa. He knew it wasn't weird but... Adrian ever since their Spirit bond had formed, the Moroi seemed to be extra protective over Jill, exactly how a brother would be.

Adrian couldn't remember the last time he'd went on vacation — actually that was a lie. Nearly three years ago in Cabo. The heat was horrid there for him but at least it was nice and looked pretty. But now here Adrian was — married to the most amazing woman with a baby. Declan had just turned one year old a little over three months ago and he was as sharp and alert as Eddie was already.
"Adrian!" Sydney exclaimed. "We're going to be late come on!" The ex-alchemist stated to get her husband back on track. The brunet held Declan in his arms as Eddie was already lugging the bags around. The whole trip to the Royal Court took about two hours. Once everyone had landed, they were escorted into the palace by guardians (not that Adrian needed any directions... he was born and grew up here). Of course even after all of this time, anyone would give Adrian and Sydney glares while walking these grounds. Apparently they were still a sensitive subject that got everyone's panties all up in a bunch.
"Hey, Scott. Love what you've done with the place," Adrian commented off-handedly as one of the guardians escorted them into the palace. "Though I think it could use a little bit more you know...razzle dazzle."
"I don't do the decorating, Lord Ivashkov. The Queen does." The guardian had stated flatly.
"I'm aware." Adrian bit back as he adjusted Declan up in his arms as they reached the 'living room'. Tatiana always called it the gathering room where people bitched and whined over politics. "Hey Cousin," Adrian greeted the moment he saw that tall frame that belonged to Lissa.
Merry Christmas

Adrian had been in so much shock that he didn't fully register what was happening until Dimitri was dragging the poor girl out and blood curdling screams followed from the otherside of that door. Adrian wanted to rush towards that door and try to help the poor girl but he knew that wall of Strigoi were just going to devour him next if he made any wrong moves. Adrian found himself paralyzed in place. A common Moroi reaction when faced with a strigoi.
All Adrian could hear was those screams and all he could imagine was what was happening. He didn't want to think about it but it was difficult to think about anything else when someone was quite literally being brutally killed in probably the worst way possible. He wanted to scream and cry at them to stop, to let her go but he knew his words would do nothing. He couldn't do anything. All he could do was stand there and listen until eerie silence fell. The brunet wasn't sure if the silence was better or worse. On one hand, she wasn't suffering anymore but on the other hand? She was dead. Better than being turned Strigoi Adrian had to reason.
As Dimitri had made his moves towards Adrian, the Moroi refused to look at him. His gaze remained down towards the floor, staring off in complete silence. He felt numb. He felt numb and scared out of his mind. As Dimitri leaned in to smell Adrian, the Moroi stiffened and backed himself further up against the wall to put as much space between him and Dimitri as possible.
Once again, Dimitri had left the room. Adrian stayed against the wall for a few more minutes, trying to ignore the blood that was coming through the bottom of the door. He wanted nothing more but to go home. Only thing that was keeping him alive was the fact that Rose wasn't here. And if Rose was here? She wasn't going to leave. At least not as a Dhampir or alive.
Adrian wasn't sure how long had passed before he finally pried himself away from the wall and headed towards the bed. He was still cautious of the other Strigoi but he was exhausted and so he propped himself up on the mattress, turned on his right side, ensuring to keep his eyes on that door and the Strigoi. He didn't want to turn his back on them... not even for a moment. He had good reason not to trust them. They were aching for a bite and Adrian was most likely next on the menu.
"You really gotta watch me do anything huh? Creeps." Adrian commented towards the strigoi.
Never turn your back until your enemy is dead.

Dimitri had been watching Rose since she escaped and failed to stake him. He had unbeknownst to her and the rest of the world, survived and now, he wanted to take what was his. He had previously offered Rose a choice, to join him willingly as a Strigoi so they could rule together but she had rejected him.
Now? He was going to force her to join him or he would kill her, he refused to let another Strigoi do it.
It was during the course of his spying, or his lesser Strigoi spying for him, that he realised she was dating someone else. Not a dhampir as he expected, no, she was dating a Moroi. A Royal Moroi. Adrian Ivashkov.
Dimitri knew Rose wouldn’t willingly leave Lissa’s side again so he had to draw her out. He waited till the Royal was outside of the wards before he grabbed him. “Ivashkov” he growled his red ringed eyes amused. “You’re about to be very useful”
He knew Rose wouldn’t abandon the spoiled Moroi to die by Strigoi. He dropped a letter for Rose to find as he sank his teeth into Ivashkov’s neck drinking just enough to render him useless from the high of a Strigoi bite.
The letter was found as Rose shook with fear and grief.
Dear Roza,
I once gave you a choice to join me in my immortality. You chose to stake me on a bridge but you forgot my lessons Roza. Never turn your back until your enemy is dead. I have taken your Moroi you know I can be patient but not forever. If you want him alive you must come to me. Dimitri

Adrian's green hues widened as the compulsion did nothing. He immediately dropped the magic use and backed away from Dimitri the second he saw those terrifying, red-ringed eyes. It was hard to ignore what Dimitri was when Adrian was that close. His skin was just as pale and lifeless as he was. It sent chills down Adrian's spine and he wanted to tuck tail and run as far as he could get. As the Moroi peered around, he realized once again, there was no escape. Even if Adrian did manage to get out of the room, he wasn't sure how many other Strigoi were out there. He was safer in here than out there and he knew it.
Those rich, emerald hues fell back on Dimitri as he backed himself back up against the wall once again. Somehow he felt safer there. No one could creep up behind him if he stood there at the very least. Adrian could feel his own heart race picking up a fear quickly filled him as he found himself glancing around at the other Strigoi.... there were so many of them. Adrian could act as sarcastic and brave as he wanted but as he looked around? He could feel himself shaking from the fear. This was his own worst nightmare. The nightmare that every Moroi feared. There was nothing more a Strigoi liked than Moroi blood. And as of lately, Royal Moroi blood was high on their list.
Adrian was so terrified that he hadn't registered the fact that Dimitri was speaking to him right away. The Moroi's gaze turned back towards Dimitri and attempted to piece the other males words together to at least figure out what was going on.
"You don't have to do anything to her. Just leave her alone—" was the only response Adrian's shaky voice could muster up. There was so many things he wanted to say but the fear coursing through his entire being prevented him from doing so.
Never turn your back until your enemy is dead.

Adrian couldn't even register just how quickly Dimitri rushed towards him. Only thing he registered was the tight grip in his hair and being jerked up by those chestnut locks of his. The Moroi let out a pained groan as he made a sad attempt at trying to break free from Dimitri's grip... he knew he was no match for Dimitri even as a Dhampir. As a Strigoi? There was no chance. Plus the exhaustion from Spirit use was hefty.
"You will die before you touch Lissa and you know it!" Adrian exclaimed. Rose could protect herself but Lissa? Adrian had grown fond of her over the few months he'd known her. She was like a sister to him more than anything. He cared about her. If it came to him or Lissa? Adrian honestly would throw himself in front of her to protect her. The life of the last Dragomir was much more valuable than one of many Ivashkovs — Adrian knew that.
When Dimitri released Adrian, his weak body fell to the floor and he attempted to gather himself again. He assumed Dimitri was just going to leave again and let the other Strigoi babysit him — he was wrong though. Adrian saw Dimitri head back over towards the feeder once again... that poor woman. "Leave her alone-" Adrian protested, voice barely above a whisper as he stubbornly used the wall to get himself back up to his feet.
Adrian assumed Dimitri was just going to use her for feeding again to further decrease her ability to do anything but he was unfortunately wrong again. He witnessed as Dimitri tossed her against the bed and carelessly tore her clothes off without any cares in the world. She may have been human but not even humans deserved to be violated in such ways. How Adrian hated being so compassionate sometimes.
"I said. Leave. Her. ALONE!" The Moroi's voice boomed out. For a short moment he reminded himself of his own father. That man's voice was capable of capturing anyone's attention. Adrian had felt that high of Spirit flowing through him once again. There again was a feeling of a flimsy wall in the way but he at least compulsion came easier to him than anything else. The Moroi rushed over to Dimitri and found himself hitting the Strigois back as he pushed further on his compulsion... he wasn't sure how well it would work on a Strigoi but he couldn't just stand there and watch.
"She's done nothing! Leave her alone, Dimitri!" Adrian exclaimed, hoping just for two seconds Dimitri would look him in the eyes — that was all Adrian needed. If it worked at least. Adrian never really tried compulsing a Strigoi in his life yet. First time for everything.
Never turn your back until your enemy is dead.

When Dimitri had left to go do whatever a Strigoi mob boss did, Adrian stared momentarily over at the defenseless feeder. Adrian was honestly in no mood to feed bur well... he knew if there was any way of getting out, he needed to feed. He wouldn't get far without blood especially with the condition he was in. He may not have been the smartest but he knew the basics of being a Moroi and how his magic worked. So he knelt down and carefully took the woman's face in his hands — feeling awful once again for the poor woman. "This isn't personal, I promise." He muttered as an apology before sinking his fangs into her neck.
Adrian was admittedly still lightheaded from the endorphins from Dimitri but hopefully this was enough to attempt what he was about to. "Okay. Okay." The moroi sighed as he sat himself on the floor, leaning with his back against the bed. He wasn't sure what time it was or where he even was so timezones could have honestly been an issue but dreamwalking was the only chance he had. The Moroi crossed his legs, straightening himself out as those green hues stared off into nothing. A blank, disassociative expression took over him as he tried to focus. Everything felt like static as he tried to reach our to someone. He knew he couldn't reach out to Rose... that would just put her in danger if she came here and Adrian knew what Dimitri would do to her. So instead, he tried reaching out to Tatiana herself. If anyone could get a team out for him on short notice? It would be her.
Despite the struggle at first, Tatiana had materialized in the static-like scene. His Spirit was so weak, he could barely make out his Great Aunts attire.
"Adrian?" The elderly Queen spoke out. Again, her voice seemed distant but it was there.
"Aunt Tatiana — help — Dimitri — kidnapped—" was all Adrian's voice was able to get out. It was like a bad cell phone connection and just like that, Adrian was torn away from his dreamwalking and he returned right back to his present situation.... and that situation included Dimitri back in the room.
Still on the floor, Adrian stared up at the Dhampir-turned-Strigoi as he roughly handled the poor woman. Adrian could only hope that Dimitri didn't know anything about dreamwalking tells. "I'm not going to hurt anyone..." Adrian sneered back boldly up at the Strigoi. "I'm not some soulless, heatless creature like you." The Moroi continued. He healed people... he didn't hurt them. That was the gift of Spirit. The gift of life.
As Dimitri once again brought up Rose, Adrian scoffed. Usually, Adrian would be terrified — and he was — however with that harsh push of Spirit, he felt something dark bubbling beneath him. Fear was there, but also so was instability and anger. Even that look in his eyes shifted to something else. It was Adrian and yet, it wasn't at all. It was temporary madness that took its hold on him. Sometimes it took a few days to kick in... others? It took just a few minutes after heavy spirit usage. Either way, Adrian was in the backseat of his own mind.
"Rose had no choice! You're the monster, not her! You're just another Strigoi that's nothing but a waste of space and breath. Stop worrying about Rose and worry about yourself! You're an abomination and Rose isn't coming! Get on with your life you insane, craddle-robbing, creep!" Adrian snapped through that darkness Spirit offered. Thankfully his Spirit side effects weren't like Lissa's...Adrian only went off on unstable ramblings that didn't make much sense half of the time.
Never turn your back until your enemy is dead.

The Moroi listened as Dimitri spoke. Well. He sure was a lot more talkative as a Strigoi at least. Not that Adrian exactly ever had long conversations with the other male before. The two always had a way of infuriating one another. As he continued speaking and gave all of his reasons, Adrian's brow cocked as he tried to keep himself calm and level headed. Adrian had never been this close to a Strigoi but... somehow, Dimitri wasn't as scary as most. He was still terrifying but.. he still felt like... Dimitri.
No magic use... Adrian could have laughed. Only magic that would come in handy was dream-walking. Aura reading and healing things weren't going to do him any favors here. Had he been a fire user, he'd be out of there in no time. Where was Christian Ozera when someone needed him?
"Suprised you haven't given me a contract to sign over all the terms and conditions." The Moroi remarked sarcastically as he weakly sat himself up on the bed. Despite the situation, he wondered how many other people were on this bed... how many were probably killed on it. It made him shudder.
"Listen, Big Bad Vamp. I like your logic but let me level with you here." Adrian began as he began getting his own bearings together again but still very much felt that high. "You do realize. I am Adrian Ivashkov. The Queens Great Nephew. I am an important person. And people, not just Rose, will be looking for me." Adrian responded as he watched the feeder stumbled around in her own high. He could only imagine which cloud she was floating on. Endorphins from Moroi alone were heavenly for humans... a Strigoi bite? He couldn't even imagine where her head was at.
"And Rose isn't yours to hurt. She's done nothing to you. Except... trying to kill you I suppose but... I imagine that's a daily occurrence in your... undead life."

Dimitri

Adrian was pretty known for going outside of the wards. He tended to travel quite a bit just for good times sake. He liked going off to party — that was no secret at all. It was an Adrian Ivashkov classic mannerism and no one really expected anything more or less of him. Girlfriend or not, he still had places he had to be and people he knew. Had he been back at The Royal Court, he'd have had a lot more supervision and security but well... he wasn't there and the guardians at St. Vladimirs were low. Nontheless, he still got a guardian for his little escapade.
The Moroi had become very restless and had decided on venturing out of the wards with his guardian. The two didn't even get a mile out before their vehicle had broken down. The guardian had gotten out to check what was up, something that took far too long for Adrian's taste. "Hey, buddy. I got places I gotta be." The Moroi groaned as he got out from the SUV to check on his guardian who had lifted the hood. Nothing could have prepared Adrian for what he saw next — a dead body. The Ivashkov had stumbled back as his heart race suddenly picked up and as he turned around to get back into the car, that was when he saw it.
Dimitri Belikov.
The Dhampir or well... Strigoi. Towered over the 6'1 Moroi. Green hues stared up at him, absolutely terrified, completely frozen in place as he stood so close to not just to a Strigoi but Dimitri. "Listen Belikov— AHHH!" Adrian screeched out as he felt those sharp fangs sinking down into the side of his neck. Dimitri thankfully didn't drink enough to knock out Adrian but the high certainly left him defenseless and not to mention the high completely cut Adrian off from any of his Spirit magic.
He felt his body being dragged and every last inch of him felt heavy. He felt unspeakably high and for once, it wasn't a very welcomed high. He felt himself being thrown into the backseat and that was the last of anything that he could remember before passing out.
Adrian wasn't sure how long he was out for. Only reason why he woke up was because he felt strong hands gripping at him again and dragging him out from the vehicle and being pushed into a building. Where it was? He also wasn't sure of that either. Through his grogginess, he did make out Dimitri though.
"Couldn't even get me a five star hotel? You really are a cheap ass — even as a Strigoi." Adrian muttered through his groggy haze.
Never turn your back until your enemy is dead.

Okay. This Adrian could work with. Play along because he wasn't about to use compulsion on his friend. It was wrong and if he could avoid it? He would. "Just getting him ready for the upcoming Halloween contest for pets! That's all." He quickly made up. Hopper thankfully quieted down now that he was in Adrian's arms and getting some sort of attention. The Moroi didn't know just how long that would last, however. So he quickly went to the fridge, again shielding Hopper away from Rowena's eyes both under his arm and by his body as his back turned towards his friend as he began digging through the fridge for something to get Hopper by. He'd polished off his pies last night when he stubbornly kept Adrian awake all night until he got out of bed.
"I told you to stay in the bedroom. No. I don't want to hear it Stop arguing with me," Adrian muttered quietly to the Dragon as he continued letting out little squeaks as his dad spoke. Anytime Adrian offered him something like an apple or grapes he let out more noises of protest. "No. We don't have anymore pie. You need to eat your fruits and vegetables, mister. I don't care if you're picky." Adrian groaned as Hopper continued refusing food. He groaned and turned to look at Rowena again. "Do you like pie? Because it looks like we're going to need to get pie."

"You will find that I can be quite persuasive, Ro-Boat," Adrian mused. Despite Adrian only just meeting Rowena just a few minutes ago, he couldn't help but already feel comfortable and familiar with her in their easy bantering. It definitely eased his nerves on coming back to college. Maybe this time around it wouldn't be so bad. At least if he didn't fall back into old habits. "Use whatever you want, I've got plenty more back at my place." Adrian offered generously.
"Oh Jesus Christ. Yeah, I was careful on the whole math thing. Always was my worst subject with all the numbers and then the letters being next to the numbers and numbers being next to letters. I have a hard enough time calculating how many watermelons Johnny hijacked from the grocery store because he got high and decided he had the munchies."

“Paddy wagon, paddy wagon, paddy wagon.” Adrian repeated over again in amusement. Reaching over, he lifted his bag up on the desk and yanked out an entire supply of — of course, nothing but top notch paints, brushes and even charcoals sticks of a wide variety of colors. It made the supplied art utensils look like child’s material. Having a wealthy family came in handy. “I may be hopeless at remembering a pencil, but you can count on me to bring a nice supply of these. I’ll happily share but only if,” he held up a finger as he gave a dramatic pause, “your girlfriend teaches me how to cook. Sydney’s birthday is coming up so… I gotta learn a thing or two about throwing together a nice dinner. You can come along and keep us company.”
“Well, I’ve got this class,” he began and pulled out his schedule, honestly not having any clue what half of them were. His main focus was just art, the rest he got rather careless with. “Got Earth science after this and then uh… Introduction to Sociology. General Chemistry, Introduction to Philosophy, pretty sure that’s a Spanish course right there— what about you?”
Rowena gave him a skeptical look, biting her lip while looking over the plethora of paints. Normally she wouldn’t work with such pricey oil paints, she tended to fuck them up more than actually achieve anything quality out of them, but Adrian didn’t have to know that just yet. “Are you trying to bribe me to use my girlfriend for goods and services?”, she said slyly, “Because it’s working…” Ro picked up one of the oil paints and tossed it over in her hands. “I work with paints at home, i do more with pastels and charcoal here on campus. Easier to commute with.”
Rowena turned up her nose at the mention of his other classes. “Sounds painful, especially general chemistry. Could be worse I guess; you could’ve gotten dumped into the maths courses. Now that’s an absolute hell hole.” She swung her chair onto it’s back two legs, balancing herself against the desk. “I’ve got a majority of art classes, but i do have an English Lit class as well as a Anatomy course this semester. Nothing too outrageous, gotta balance college work with actual work still.”

"Uh. I am a heavy sleeper. Could murder somebody right there and I'd still be knocked out," Adrian mused. Though in truth, he was a fairly heavy sleeper. He could sleep through a blow dryer going off and even someone taking a shower. That he recalled from waking up the next morning after Rose left. He saw the hair dryer carelessly sitting out, with a couple of towels not so neatly hung up. That was right before Guardians came hurtling into her room, demanding to know where she was and the death of Tatiana was laid on Adrian.
These thoughts made Adrian's heart pang with pain but that smile and confidence never once left his exterior. At least not until another loud thump was heard from his bedroom and soon enough, a squawking, hungry Hopper came dashing out from the bedroom like a bat out of hell and straight into the kitchen, biting at Adrian's pants leg. "Hopper!" He exclaimed, picking up the dragon and made a failed but frantic attempt at hiding the squirming creature under his arm to shield him from Rowena's sight. All trace of confidence and bravado left him in that moment. A dog he could explain. A golden scaled dragon that was the size of a lap dog? That might be tricky.
Think Adrian, think. He thought to himself.
"Uh. This is my Dog. His name is Hopper. He likes pie—"
