I enjoyed Victor Gonzales’s vintage polaroid of a record player. I felt that this photo truly brought out “the thing itself” with great attention to detail and physical contrast.
I took a similar photo of my record player as well while keeping these ideas in mind.

Rachel Mason made this image of an acoustic guitar. I find guitars very interesting looking in general. Capturing various different perspectives of the guitar always bring it out in a different light.
I took a similar picture as well.

I really liked the color in this eye shot by Matt Bernstein. It really seemed to play on visual contrast within the photo. Seeing stark contrast in photos really makes them memorable images to me.
I attempted to make an image with stark contrast as well

Stefan Klauke really employed foreground, middle ground and background in this shot. Doing this wide shot really captured the essence of this geographic location.
I gave my best shot at defining foreground middle ground and background here above as well.

I really enjoyed Yvone Carpenter’s use of shadow photography here. I felt like this photo really asked a question.
The second photo is an image I made in attempts to capture a shadow and object.

I really enjoy how this photographer (could not find name) plays with shadows and saturated colors. I took this photo of a painting and played with saturation in order to achieve a similar result.

Dirk Hoffman really employed a center focal point in this photo. Overall I just like this aesthetic and how our eyes are drawn to one specific area. This is complimented by the surrounding posts as well.
I attempted to create a focal point as well through the placement of the wooden sculpture in my photo.

I found this photo above by Sheila H to evoke a sense of home and safety through it. The way the light sneaks in through the blinds is what did it for me.
In my photo I tried to capture a similar setting with the blinds/lighting combo.

I liked what Arianna Lerussi did here by capturing the temperature of the environment through her photo. Just looking at the trees I felt the cold of the environment. I attempted to do something similar by capturing the warmth of the fall tress with the leaves on them.

In this photo by Deemseng, I just liked how the chain link was used in a way to frame the shot and make it look open yet constricting simultaneously. I attempted to frame my shot through shapes as well. I wanted to capture what outside might look like through the constriction of being inside.

I found this image by Deemsseng eye catching because I think the way in which the blinds channel the light into a single captured spot is interesting to see. I like how the photographer simply caught an environment at the correct time without much set up. For my photo I tried to capture light in the blinds in a similar manner.

For this photo from Z Ming, I was really intrigued with how light and reflection of light were captured in the shot. Cool to see how the focus and non focused parts of the image worked together to create this cluster of beautiful light. For my shot I tried to do something similar by capturing the reflection of the light against the wall.

It has become around that time of year where the leaves in the mountains have begun to change color. This begs for photographic recognition. This weekend I took a trip up to Telluride, Colorado in order to capture this majestic transition. Above is a beautiful nameless photo shot by Blaine Harrington. Attached is also an image I took from the weekend with my friends in Telluride. The beginnings of the leave transition takes place behind us.

This is a nameless Vaporwave image by an internet artist named Anbu Playboy. I find images like this very interesting and intriguing. Vaporwave is an aesthetic that kind of renders a type of 90s nostalgia for me. I also think it’s awesome how artists and image makers can exist within subcultures of the internet. It is wild how artists can use softwares like photoshop to create a specific vibe. Above is also my best go at a vaporwave style image.

This photo taken by Marco Martinelli seemed awesome to me. With the shoes in focus in the foreground and oceanic landscape in the back, it felt as if the shoes really told a story of a journey that took place prior to the photo and continued following it. I really like how subjects can take the foreground while an expansive background can set the context. The image I took uses a similar strategy through setting the coffee mug in the foreground and an expansive landscape in the back. To me, this tells a story of what’s going on in front of the cup as well as behind it.
