Calling Kid “Useless D. Mid” because he lost almost immediately to Shanks is dumb.
Shanks thought he was important enough to use a Devine departure on him (a Named attack from Roger). It was also full of some of the strongest conquer’s Haki in the modern era.
Hey, you don't have to convince this Kid stan!
As much as I loathe this encounter, Shanks showed a lot of respect to Kid during it. He did his research, wanted to check if Kid was still injured from Wano before any confrontation could happen, and was more than willing to let things slide albeit with the condition that the Kid Pirates hand over their Poneglyph copies.
It's only when he saw that potential future of Kid wiping out all those weaker crews that he lost it, because Shank's tolerance and hospitality drops like a rock the minute his friends are in danger.
Given Shank's attitude towards Luffy and what he says in Wano about it not being fair to cut down the buds of the new generation before they bloom, I think even he knows that this won't keep Kid down forever. He sees that Kid still hasn't been humbled from the last time he picked a fight with his crew and this whole exchange had the vibe of "you've got potential but you're a bull in a china shop and you're being a dick about it. Knock it off" Whether this is going to be Kid's wake-up call to chill the fuck out or not is ultimately up to Kid. If he doesn't change his bloodthirsty ways, he might lose more than his ship, poneglyphs, and a good portion of his crew next time.
