Intramurals 2024: A Celebration of Sports, Spirit, and Unity

Intramurals have always been a highlight of every school year, but Intramurals 2024 at Cebu Eastern College was something else entirely. From the opening ceremony to the final whistle, it was a whirlwind of energy, excitement, and unforgettable moments.

The event kicked off on October 9, with the grand opening held at the Abellana Sports Complex. Just stepping into the venue, I could feel the buzz in the air—everyone was pumped! The opening parade was a sea of colors, with students marching proudly in their respective teams. Faculty members gave some powerful speeches that set the tone for what was ahead: healthy competition, camaraderie, and most of all, fun!

The day was packed with excitement, including the track and field events, which took place right during the opening ceremony, adding even more thrill to the start of the games. The crowd was on its feet, cheering for their favorite athletes as they raced across the field, setting the competitive tone for the days ahead.

One of the best parts of the opening ceremony was the incredible performances. The Kahayag Dance Company blew everyone away with their killer moves, showcasing their talent and passion. Not to be outdone, the Pathfit 1 students delivered an epic mass/unity dance that left the crowd in awe. It was a true celebration of school spirit and togetherness, setting the stage for the exciting days ahead.

But that was just the beginning.

Over the next few days, the real action began. Competitions were happening everywhere—yells, and then a mix of events from esports to dance battles, singing, and speech competitions. Each event brought out the best in everyone, and it was clear that no matter the outcome, all participants gave it their all.

Personally, the esports competition really surprised me with how intense it was. Seeing teams go head-to-head in video games, while the crowd cheered just as loudly as they did for traditional sports, added a modern twist to the whole intramural vibe. The dance battles were another highlight—students poured their heart and creativity into every performance, making each competition unforgettable.

What made this year’s intramurals so special wasn’t just the competition—it was the vibe. Everywhere you looked, there was laughter, cheers, and people hyping each other up. Even when things got competitive, there was always this undercurrent of respect and unity. It didn’t matter which team you were on; we were all in it together.

Looking back at Intramurals 2024, it wasn’t just about the medals or the victories. It was about the memories we made, the friendships we strengthened, and the school spirit that shone through every day. It was a reminder that while competition is great, it’s the sense of community and shared experience that makes events like this truly special.

I’m already looking forward to next year’s intramurals, but for now, I’ll hold onto these memories—bright, colorful, and full of fun. This year’s intramurals was more than just an event; it was an experience that we’ll carry with us long after the games have ended.
