I thought I had posted my whole queue, but Tumblr decided I still apparently had things left in my queue, which it then posted on schedule. So I posted everything that it says is left, but I wanted to reblog this again because I want this to be on the top of the blog. I feel like this is an important last thing to say (at least, the last for a while. Hopefully I’ll be able to come back to this after things calm down). I want to leave you all with an explanation and a message of hope. Never let canon restrict you.

Hiatus -- but also an important reminder for the entire fandom

In light of recent events, I decided to post the entire queue I had saved up for this blog and put this on hiatus. I don’t know when or even if I will bring it back. I fully expect the louder, more obnoxious side of this fandom to make my continued existence here untenable for a while until things calm down. I hate to say that any fandom can become so corrupt as to drive out even those trying to make it a more positive and fun and accepting place, but it has happened before, and this fandom has been trending in that direction for a long time now. Some would say that it is already there.

But please remember

Fanworks are transformative. They take elements of canon, yes, but they transcend what is given. Fanworks are allowed to change or ignore whatever they like, and they are allowed to add and expand on whatever the fanwork creator desires. Even if canon “proves you wrong,” you have the right to enjoy what you want. You have the right to ship whatever you want to ship. You have the right to “stan” – to support – whatever character you want. And if canon “proves you wrong,” you have the right to say no, and you have the right to stick with what you love.

And that doesn’t mean that you need to dislike or disown the canon events, either. Fanworks and canon can go in entirely different directions and you can still like both. You can love and accept the canon of the story and still love and hold onto your fanon and fanworks. You are allowed to keep those in separate spheres.

Multishippers. Poly shippers. Shaladins. Lotordins… Lotor fans… Shippers and supporters and FANS of every variety, remember this – canon does NOT invalidate you or what you like. I have seen people from all over this fandom share stories of hope found through characters and ships that the fandom and creators and canon deem “incorrect.” Even if canon takes what you love away from you, you are allowed to hold onto it, and you are still allowed to find your own meaning in it, even if that contradicts canon. Your alternate ideas will never become canon, and you cannot force other fans or the show creators to accept them, but you can hold onto them.

Love what you love. Create fanworks. And let no one, no matter how canonically “correct” they may be, tell you to stop.

I love you all. Thank you for being awesome. Ship-positive… fanwork positive fans of every variety, please, keep doing what you have always done, and let no anti or anti-anti or anyone else ever stop you. Let no official cast and crew, no statement from the show or from Dreamworks, no canon or anything else stop you.

And to my Klancelot shippers – my Lancelot and Keitor shippers, as well as Lotor x Paladin or Lotor x anyone shippers of any variety, I leave you with this: You are allowed to reinterpret any character in whatever way brings you joy. Let nothing stop you from loving what and who you love in the way you have always loved them. And if that means that what you love is a completely different version of something from canon, then so be it. Diverge from canon. Create something good, something pure, something different…

Because sometimes, fanworks create something better than canon.
