After a delicious breakfast prepared by your cook, we will pass by the first point of control of the Inca Trail to begin our trek (please be sure to have your original passport with you to enter the Inca Trail). The first 2 hours of the trek are relatively easy as we head to our first Inca site, Patallacta which is a former Inca checkpoint for the approach to Machu Picchu. From Patallacta is another 2 hour hike to our lunch stop. After lunch we will hike for 2 hours and a half to reach the camp of the first night in Ayapata (3300 meters). In this last section we went through 2 small communities. If you want to buy energy drinks or snacks you can do here, you can also buy any essential items like batteries that you may have forgotten. We will arrive at our camp at 5:00 PM and after getting settled in a little you can relax and have a hot drink and a snack with your team of porters, chef and guide. At 7:30 pm your dinner will be ready, and then you can get a well-deserved rest.
Walking distance: 8.7 miles/14 km (6-7 hours) Campsite altitude: 3300 meters (high) above sea level Considered: Moderate day (getting used to the Inca Trail) Weather: Warm and windy
Day 2: Ayapata – Dead Woman´S Pass – Runcuraccay Pass – Chaquiccocha ( camp ):
Our porters will wake you up early with a hot cup of coca tea so you’re ready for the day. Today is our longest day and we will start early. We will walk for approximately 4 hours to the highest step of the trek, Paso de la Mujer Muerta (4215 meters / 13829 feet). Upon reaching the pass we will stop for a short pause to enjoy the views before departing again to descend to the next valley (Pacaymayu Valley – Hidden River). It’s another hour and a half down the valley side to our lunch spot and an opportunity to refill our water bottles. After lunch we started climbing again to the second step of the walk. It is 2 hours from the pass and by the way we will stop in a small Inca site (Runcu Raccay) and we will see two huge cascading waterfalls on the opposite side of the valley. After the second pass, it is another hour of descent from trek to reach the magnificent Inca site, Sayacmarca (an otherwise inaccessible village). Let’s stop here to rest and take a quick tour of the site and then watch the sunset over the Vilcabamba mountain range. It is then another 20 minutes until we stop for the night in our second camp Chaquicocha (dry lake, 3600 meters). After dinner, if you are not too exhausted, we can observe some stars and point out the fascinating Inca constellations. In the magnificent sky of the Southern Hemisphere, far from all artificial illumination, this sky is something to contemplate!

Day 3: Chaquiccocha – Wiñaywayna ( Camp ):
Complete day 2 and start day 3, we start again early, waking up at 6:30 am to begin what many know as the most beautiful day of the entire Inca Trail. We walked for 2 hours along what we like to call “flat Inca” (gradual inclinations) and begin to enter the jungle, known as the Cloud Forest. As we walk we will have the opportunity to see the majesty of Salkantay, the second highest snowed mountain in the entire Sacred Valley and a fantastic panoramic view of the Vilcabamba mountain range. Towards the end of the Inca apartments we started to climb to the last peak in Phuyupatamarka (3600 meters) from where we will have magnificent views of the Urubamba River. In the valley we get our first views of the Machu Picchu mountain, but the site itself remains hidden from view. From Phuyupatamarka it is a 3 hour hike up a flight of steps to our last camp, near Wiñay Wayna (Forever Young). Wiñay Wayna is the most spectacular Inca site on the trail after Machu Picchu and the most popular camping due to its proximity to Machu Picchu.
During the descent we will see 2 Inca ruins, Phuyupatamarka (City in the Clouds) and Intipata (Terrazas del Sol). We arrived at our camp around 1:00 PM to have lunch and then relax for the whole afternoon so that you are relaxed and ready for your last day in Machu Picchu. Around 4:30 pm your guide will give you a brief orientation and visit the Inca ruins of Wiñay Wayna, spending about an hour and a half there. We will explain the importance of the site and combine all the information provided during the trek so that you are fully prepared for your visit to Machu Picchu the next day.
It is a tradition of the Inca Trail to organize a ceremony at night to introduce the team to the tourists once again and thank them for the great work done (if you wish to provide them with advice for them then you can do so at this time). It is advisable to go to bed at a reasonable time to get up in the early hours of the morning to reach Machu Picchu at dawn in the hope that the weather will give us a beautiful sunrise over the ruins of Machu Picchu.
Walking distance: 6.2 miles/10km (5 hours) Campsite altitude: 2.600 meters (high) above sea level (chilly weather) Considered: Easy day – all downhill! Area: High Cloud Forest Weather: Warm and very humid

Then you can enjoy the hot springs, which is divided into several pools ranging from the cold to the hottest. All of them are composed of purely volcanic water, which is medicinal in nature and is considered good for bones, stress, muscles and headaches. You will give your suitcases to the riders to be transported to the camp.
Then we will begin our expedition to Machu Picchu. To start, an uphill walk of two hours, until arriving at our place of lunch in the first town, called Kiswarani. This section of the walk is considered the potato valley sector, where people cultivate many varieties of organic dads. The tour guide will indicate where there are medicinal plants that grow in this locality. Then, we will arrive at our lunch place, where you can enjoy your first meal prepared by our specialized chef. After a nice nap, we will be ready to explore the traditional village and visit some local homes where we can learn about the lifestyle and local traditions of the people living there. If there is time, we will visit the school where the children still speak Quecha, their mother tongue. If you wish, you can bring some toys, notebooks or any kind of school material to share. Maybe you can even teach them some words in English. Then we will have a two-hour hike up the hill to the camp where we will be welcomed by our trekking staff, who will have their stores already established. We will enjoy hot drinks, as the sky darkens and the stars begin to appear. Our guide will take you to a place where you can appreciate the view of the sky and learn about the Inca constellations, which were studied to a large extent by the Inca people. Your guide will use our telescope to search the famous Inca constellations, such as the cosmic constellation of The Southern Cross, Orion and many others.
