Saileen: officially intentional?

So, Shoshannah gave an interview that came out just yesterday… 

Q: There is undeniable chemistry between Sam and Eileen – it was obvious even in the flirty way Eileen says “bye Sam.” Was that scripted—like, Eileen says in a flirty manner–or was that your take on how Eileen would probably have said it?

A: All that was scripted. It was on the page. I was so bad at it. I was asking John [the director] if I could be funny with it, and he was like, no, listen, Shoshannah, you need to try to be sexy. And I was like right, the key word here is: try.

(…) I’m happy Eileen has the Winchesters there with her in that life now, and that it’s pretty clear they have been since Into the Mystic.

So, OK it’s just a cast interview, but it’s nice to know that Eileen is supposed to be portrayed as a love interest for Sam, it’s in the script. Plus it’s clear enough to the actors that they have kept in touch too which is a fandom headcanon :)

I mean, we don’t know where this will go of course but it’s good to know what we picked up on as not - so - subtle hint at a deeper connection was valid!

Side note, on the subject of us picking up on hints at a deeper connection, *ahem* I love how Saileen is such an exposition to Destiel in this episode - see this post where I kind of tinhattingly went into quite a lot of detail about this…. 

1. Stabby stabby meet cute. 2. A badass, blunt, relatively tactless hunter who Sam is weirdly proud of. 3. The beer clinking scene. 4. The directly paralleled dialogue. 5. Nearly every Eileen scene has a Cas reference.  6. The clearly platonic Eileen/Dean relationship v Sam/Eileen portrayed in exactly the same way as Sam/Cas v Dean/Cas? Eye contact, going to Sam when she’s upset, Dean looking to Sam when she’s upset (see Sam looking at Dean in 12x12 and all the other freaking times this comes up throughout the seasons), basically the way Dean/Eileen interact like bro and sis -in law in exactly the way Sam/Cas interact like bros-in-law. 

So… *yay*!

It said ‘Philip Michael Lester’ on it, so Philip Michael Lester’s family was contacted and a wedding date was set. Phil’s own mark is blue, and so are both his parents’. He’s never been exposed to any red-markers before, and is appalled at how they’re treated when he meets Dan.

Summary: If you have a soulmate, their favorite lyric gets tattooed on your body. Phil is a singer, and his favorite lyrics are his own. Dan loves the lyrics.

Phil can’t figure out why somebody like Dan would want to hang out with somebody like himself. Dan’s the bad boy who smokes cigarettes and listens to bands Phil’s never heard of. Phil is the self-loathing loser who’s too afraid of disappointment. It turns out though that Dan has more issues than Phil could ever keep track of.

The Six Napoleons The basis for the first episode.

The Dying Detective The starting point for the second episode and second gayest story in all the canon. Also, BAMF Watson.

The Three Garridebs The officially gayest story in the canon. Reads like a hurt-comfort fic. The “Garridebs moment” is likely when Sherlock reveals his feelings to John.

The Final Problem Presumably the basis for the third episode. The basis for Reichenbach; since we’re probably revisiting the Fall anyhow, it’s good to take a look.

Read the whole canon. It’s worth it. They’re genuinely good stories, and Mofftiss frequently slip in references to stories throughout the canon.

Watch the show again. The real question is: why not watch the show again?

Watch The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes. It’s a) really really gay b) pretty good and c) Mofftiss’s favorite Holmes adaptation, the inspiration for the show’s direction.

Watch the pilot. It’s called the gay pilot for a reason.

Read John’s blog. He’s so in love and so bad at hiding it.

Listen to the Sherlock music. Iconic themes, such as Sherlock’s, John’s, Mary’s, and the title theme, often indicate the feelings and motivations behind characters’ actions.

Watch TJLCE and read LSiT’s meta Fandom classics.

If you can’t get enough:

Read The Stark Munro Letters. It’s ACD’s self-insert fic about his crush that single-handedly proved to me that that man was not straight.

Watch the Doctor Who episodes containing Madame Vastra and/or the Eleventh Doctor. Madame Vastra and Jenny are fem!lizard!Johnlock; you will never doubt Moffat again. The Eleventh Doctor and Clara have Johnlock parallels that are hard to ignore.

Watch other adaptations, such as Granada Holmes. The show draws on all things Sherlock Holmes, not just the stories.

Read M Theory. tl;dr: if your name starts with M, you’re a baddie.

Read old meta. Much of the foundation of TJLC is based on meta from 2014 or before. Go through the tags and archives of your favorite writers, or ask them where you can find resources on every topic from homosexuality in Victorian times to the importance of tea.

The first time Misha reads the script, he laughs so hysterically that he gets lightheaded and has to take a nap in his trailer.

Jensen will soon be standing in front of a teenage girl, listening intently as she explains the concept of Destiel subtext to him.

Nothing could delight Misha more.

Granted, Jensen is one of his best friends. And he maybe probably definitely wouldn’t be opposed if Jensen one day decided to burn his straight pride flag and kissed his face just a little.

But that’s beside the point.

The point is that Jensen–poor, overcompensating, precious little macho Jensen–has to confront his worst fear on national television: Dean and Cas doing it.

The second time Misha reads the script–and honestly he reads it a second time simply because it fills him with such petty joy (it’s not like he’s in the fucking episode)–he gets stuck on one teensy little part.

Before he has the inclination to filter himself, he shoots Robbie a text: Siobhan and Kristen are a couple in real life? Is there something between me and Jensen that I don’t know about?

Robbie texts back almost immediately.
