I know I’m a week late, but i wanted to do a post for TDOV anyway!! 🫶

As you all know, both Hikaru and I are trans men. Hikaru’s transition is a pivotal point in his story, and his experience with gender and masculinity closely mirrors my own. If he hadn’t transitioned, he would have never developed Beetle Breathing, bonded as closely as he did with Gideon, or possibly have never even met Kyojuro. His unique experiences and viewpoints with gender and his own identity grant him a very specific strength, and he wouldn’t be Hikaru without his transness 🫶

This is my second TDOV being fully out and openly transitioning! It’s… a scary time to be trans right now. I fear for my future, and I ache for my trans siblings in less accepting areas. But being trans is easily the most beautiful thing I’ve ever done, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Being Leon is a privilege. Getting to know Leon, to discover who he is and mold him with my own hands, is the greatest beauty I can imagine.

Sanegiyu/Slayer Mark Headcanon

The 25 year expiration date makes for some good angsty fic, don't get me wrong. I've written it myself, and probably will again. But it is so so tragic 🥺 Don't they (and Tanjiro, too) deserve to live full, happy lives after all the shit they have been through?

The Mark is tied to Muzan, just like the Ubuyashiki curse is. Where the curse is a punishment on the family line that produced a demon, the mark is the universe creating balance with the presence of demons by giving humanity a way to defeat Muzan.

Thus! When Muzan was defeated and demons were eradicated both the Ubuyashiki Curse and the Slayer Mark were also removed. The universe was brought back into balance.

So NO 😠 They did not only get four demon-free years of normality and then die anyways. They were not punished for ridding the world of Muzan Kibutsuji. Sanemi didn't have sit and watch Giyu die and wait nine months for his turn. They lived long, happy, full lives, damn it, because I said so and it makes me happy to believe it.

First of all, I cannot fucking believe it's been a full year! I remember the first time I saw Hikaru on Tumblr and immediately thinking that he and Gideon would get along. I never would have *imagined* that from the first time we talked and yapped about our two ocs that they would become brothers. I also never would have imagined that you and I would have so much in common and that we'd eventually become best friends.

There's a decent amount of stigma about Internet friendships and how social networks can make us feel lonely even when the opposite should have been the point. I'm grateful that I got to meet you on Tumblr and that I get to talk to you and share things with you every day, and you add so much to my life even though we don't get to see eachother irl. I think that every once in a while, through whatever barriers exist, people can connect in very real ways through social media and I'm so grateful for our friendship!

One of the ways in which you add to my life is through your encouragement. I met you while I was still drawing on my little smartphone with a crappy free pen stylus and my finger on Ibis paint. Seeing your art, especially every time you drew Gideon or included him in your stories, encouraged me to express myself more and more through art and to add to our universe. I invested in a tablet and shared like ... Every single thing I tried to draw with you? 😆 And you always hyped me up!

You also like ... Never made me feel shitty about how I was feeling in any moment. You help me grapple with my tentativeness in taking up space, and assure me that I'm not annoying or burdensome. I know those things sound small, and you've helped me through so many other grieving moments... But you sitting with me means the world, friend. 

I'm honored to be your friend, glad and so fucking grateful for your presence. Happy friendiversary, bestie! I wish you all of the happiness, and all of the good things for your life. I'm glad you're here and I love you so much! /Platonic 🫶🫶
