The brothers also implemented the city's first post office and a wharf that was used for exports and imports to the ocean. These large ventures, coupled with smaller personal ventures each contributed to the overall goal of creating a community that was unique for the time. One of the most lasting relics of Kimballs Kimballs is the trees they brought in and planted from Europe and Asia that they managed to accomplish through an agreement in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. These trees are dotted throughout the city today.
