born in saint paul, minnesota, aberdeen james odell's family was anything but rich. his dad was a fast food chain worker and his mom, too ill after giving birth to work, stayed home with a young aberdeen. they lived in countless run-down studio apartments, bouncing from one from another as their leases ended and the money ran out.

despite the financial distress they lived under, both parents loved their son through it all, and some nights they wouldn't eat so that he could. as much as they tried to hide it, however, aberdeen began to notice their sacrifices and the guilt set in at an early age.

in high school, aberdeen started clawing his way out of what had been generations of bad financial decisions. he worked two jobs through his school years, saving nearly every penny except what he used for a car and to help him family. he didn't like being overly social, but he recognized what he could gain from being everyone's "friend" — and so he joined every club he could and attempted to make a network of teachers to help him get into a good university.

when aberdeen graduated high school, he immediately enrolled in college with a focus in engineering and sped through as many classes as he could, accumulating as much money as possible working several jobs and odd jobs on the weekends. money, and saving it, became aberdeen's life. he put it above friendships and relationships, and he quickly earned a "scrooge" like reputation.

after college, aberdeen worked as an electrical engineer for nearly five years before the money he was earning became too little for his tastes. growing up so poor, he felt as though he needed more money. he went back to school, this time focusing on finance.

after graduating he went into investing and built a reputation for himself as being one of the best in his field. he worked tirelessly for years, and soon enough he had a small fortune. a few years more, and he had a large fortune. it wasn't long before friends became beggars, and strangers tried to become friends; all for a chance at gaining access to aberdeen's money - or, at least, that's how he viewed it.

he fell in love and married a woman he considered to be the love of his life. but when the outbreak began, the stress and uncertainty broke down their marriage. this is a wanted connection!

after the outbreak, when his money suddenly meant nothing and his community hit particularly hard, aberdeen found himself alone. he searched for his ex-wife, but upon not finding her, he trekked south with several different groups until he found elkton. though it had been many years since his engineering days, he managed to secure a position in town as an electrical engineer after studying a little and regaining his knowledge.
