How was your day today? 

Today, if something even slightly unfortunate happened to you, then it probably was because of my earnest prayer. These days, I pray for you almost every day. 

When I open my eyes in the morning, when I close my eyes at night, when I watch TV, when I eat a meal, in the subway on my way to work, at my new workplace, whenever I have time, I always pray earnestly. 

I pray you become unhappy like me. I pray every moment you breathe is hell. I pray you become like me. 

I pray to all the stars in the cloudy sky. I pray to the stale wind blowing in the hill. I pray to the abandoned land and filthy air. And I pray to all the bad people that undoubtedly exist somewhere in this world.

Hello, Father. 

Yesterday, for the first time in my life, I wondered if I would have become a different person than I am today if you were alive. 

As you can see, I am seriously, totally a mess. 

Father, I haven’t made anything of myself. I was born into the world the same way, but I don’t think I will be able to become anything.

What should I do, Father? Somehow I will be 27 next week. At 27, Mom was already sending me to school. During the last days of being 26, I’m thinking, “What is money?” And that’s it. 

Eventually, I started thinking whoever loves me the most is the one who spends the most money on me. These bad thoughts fill my mind.

Father, if you had money, you would have given it all to me. My beloved father. I think money is love. Have I turned completely bad? Have I failed to live like a decent human being? Despite that, I still don’t want to give up on anything. 

Kang-jae’s monologue, ep. 2

One of the things that strikes me about Lost (other than the fact that this is the most jdrama I’ve ever seen kdramas go), is how KIND Kang Jae is - with the burial of his friend, now with a random middle-aged stranger. He’s all hard shiny shell but he still is capable of feeling.

And I’ve seen comments finding Boo Jung not likeable but while I don’t think she’d be a BFF or someone I want to hang out with, I get her so much! No, I don’t see myself in her but a few wrong turns in life and I could. The quiet desperation, the nosy mother in law (not some big bad but so grinding and demeaning in the littlest most mundane ways), the emotionally absent husband (who I also feel pity for - he is also trapped and lost), the joyless drudgery of her life, the loss, the thwarted rage under the meek facade. I feel for her so immensely.

I don’t particularly care if this drama has any romance or not, but I desperately hope these two will find some sort of meaning and salvation through each other, whatever shape it may take.
