rosalievillarreal‌:
Rosalie was about to spin out. Easton and Leo weren’t at her side, and she was left searching through the crowd alone. Her hands shook, uncharacteristically so, as she tried to turn people from their conversations and set them about looking for her niece. Her phone was constantly out as she showed others a photo of her niece, hoping something would have seen something that was useful. She’d managed to get through a fair amount of the crowd, but there was still nothing. Rosalie realized that most people wouldn’t have spared a ‘mother’ and a baby a passing glance. Anyone who saw them must have assumed the child had gotten fussy and needed to get some air.  It wasn’t anyone’s instinct to go straight to kidnapping.
That was one of the more worrying things. What if no one had seen anything they could use? What would they do? Kingston was large enough, and that was assuming whoever took her stuck close to home. Rosalie stilled, back turned to the majority of the crowd as she released a shaking sigh and moved her hands upward to sweep the hair off the nape of her neck as she tried to get a steady breath in. Abel’s voice filled her ears before she turned and caught him with a glass in hand talking to someone she didn’t know. Rosalie wasn’t ready for any of the other family members to see her so shaken. Sofia had seen her rage, but no one had seen the actual fear in her hues. A small hand reached out, encircling the other’s wrist as she stepped between him and the other. If anyone was going to see her in a state, it might as well have been him. “-It’s my niece, Abel. Someone took her, and I know we aren’t this kind of friends, but I need your help..
Please?”
Tumblr media
Abel’s face became incredulous as he felt a hand reach around his wrist, until its owner stepped into his vision. He smiled for a split second, before it immediately fell. Rosalie... didn’t look like Rosalie. Her dark eyes, usually mischievous and sure of themselves, were now desperate and panicked. Walls usually placed up around her aura were completely torn down as she looked up at the Maddox. Confusion swept over him, and he simply stared back, unmoving. Once she spoke, there was another moment of silence... for just that split second, he didn’t know how to respond. Their repertoire never included anything like this. But he quickly composed himself, ignoring the friend comment - he didn’t hesitate.
“Okay. Breathe.” He said, tone even and steady. For as long as he could remember, his father trained him and his brother on how to respond to emergency situations - it was one of the most crucial parts of the job. So by now, it was second nature. He immediately placed the glass down on a table beside him. “What exactly happened... who else has seen her? When did you find out?” His eyes flew to the exits, and around the crowd, keeping an eye out discreetly while waiting for the brunette to answer.

It was about a good couple minutes after he had stepped away from Emery, had Weston realized a commotion broke out. After running into Leo and Easton, both of whom looked completely distraught did he realize what had happened. Luna had gone missing and it explained why the Villarreals looks so stricken, with that Weston had gone investigating. Still, he wondered how someone had managed to lose track of a child, but he supposed the infant got passed around from one person to another all probably eager to see the child. His hazel eyes were sharp as he began moving around trying to spot anyone with a child that might be Luna.
He had questioned a few people who might have the child but no one really seemed to who Luna was and the other half had said they hadn’t seen her for a while. He had passed a group when he spotted Abel a couple of feet away from him and from what Weston could tell he seemed to wonder what caused such a shift in the atmosphere. Hearing his brother’s comment, Weston moved his gaze towards him. “Put that drink down, we have some investigating to do. Luna is missing, I just spoke to Leo and Easton. Did you see who last had her?” His gaze turning curious, maybe Abel might have seen the infant around.
Tumblr media
As soon as Weston began speaking, Abel could hear the urgency in his voice. The younger Maddox turned to his brother with a furrow in his brow, listening to what happened. Placing his glace on the table sitting next to him, he mused silently, trying to pinpoint the little girl in his memory. “Um... Sofia, I think? Right?” His eyes grazed over the room. “Yeah. Sofia had her at one point, but I didn’t see her afterwards. I was moving around a lot.”
Abel chewed the inside of his cheek as his brain turned, his eyes instinctively flickering to the exits. “Did they lock the place down yet?” He mused, trying to think of every possible scenario. Of course, even if they did, that didn’t at all guarantee that the girl hadn’t been taken some time way before she was even noticed missing. As much as he didn’t care for the other families, he felt a bit sick at the thought of a little girl going missing, possibly being being taken. In his family, though, that twist in his gut was trained to be turned into action. “What did those two say? How long ago did they notice?”

Abel had been on his way to grab his third weed-laced drink -. he was feeling totally relaxed now, and what was a great time sober, was becoming even better under the influence of the beloved green. He meandered through the crowd, smiling faintly at each pair of eyes that caught his. Things were moving a little slower as the drug was kicking further in, and everything was feeling real good. Just as he neared what he was in search of, he felt a body knock him to the side, hurrying in the same direction he was. The person had a wildly panicked look in their eyes as they disappeared into the crowd. It was a stark contrast, and, quite frankly, brought his high down a little. He sighed slightly, beginning to walk again before being stopped, purposely this time.
He turned, slightly annoyed now, until he was face to face with Ben Carlisle. He raised his eyebrows, lifting his hands, exasperated. “What is the issue?” He breathed, trying not to roll his eyes. Because of the weed, it had taken him a bit longer to focus. But now, as he did, he realized just how real Ben looked, panic completely gripping the blonde male’s features. His eyes were wild, his breathing heavy. Abel’s eyes came into focus, and was dropped down to earth a bit more. Even if he wasn’t to concerned with the well-being of the others, he had to admit, he was intrigued.
“What’s going on?” His words were actually serious this time, but he couldn’t help the slightly amused look on his face - a mix of the drug and the oddity of the alarm in Benjamin’s face in contrast to the tone of the party.
Tumblr media
Benjamin should have known that this event couldn’t have come and gone without something happening and for him it felt as though the worst had happened. There was a ringing in his ears as he breathed to steady his racing heartbeat. Not only was a small infant missing, but his wife was being accused of carrying out such a horrendous act. He wandered the party in a daze though ironically the disturbing news had seem to sober him up. “Have you seen her?” Ben asked frantically, shaking his head at his vague question. “Have you seen a small baby girl? Easton Villarreal’s daughter?” As if every person in Kingston knew exactly who Easton was.
Ben was desperate to find the child. He felt like he was going to lose it if he didn’t. Ben and Sofia couldn’t seem to be trusted with their own child’s well being, but could they be such dreadful people that they couldn’t be trusted with the responsibility of someone else’s? Were the Carlisles so cursed? His hand stopped someone he recognized before they could make their way past him in the party crowd. “Please— Please help me.”

The party had been in full upswing, as groups continued to grow in size and shift in members - strangers became friends, even just for the day, and the level of constraint and professionalism was considerably low. Abel had spent a large portion of the party sliding in and out of different circles, clinking glasses and having chats with pretty much everyone. He had a little more alcohol in his system than perhaps one should, but he was always good at hiding that. The first few buttons on his white shirt were unbuttoned now, and its tuck job became undone a bit as the night had worn on. But he was in good spirits, and the night was far from over.
He was letting out a of a laugh at a suggestive story someone was telling, when a shift in the crowd caught his eye. He started to notice smiles instantly vanishing, and a couple bustling bodies breaking through the crowd, worried eyes darting. Instantly going into Maddox investigative mode, Abel was careful not to shift the carefree look on his face as he excused himself. He kept smiling as he wandered over towards the small commotion in the crowd, and spotted someone nearby who certainly wasn’t clueless to it, either. He meandered over to them slowly so as not to create a further scene, until he stood next to them, eyes not looking at them, but still at the crowd.
“Some party drama? Couldn’t hold off for a day?” He said with a light grin, taking a sip of the drink in his hand.

Abel could feel the impact of more color splashing against his back, just adding to the onslaught he received when he walked in, clearly too clean for the other guests’ liking. He flinched forward from the impact he didn’t see coming, but grinned as he shook his head and kept walking. In true Abel fashion, he had shown up quite late to the party, and festivities were already in full swing. Colors adorned the white outfits of nearly everyone around him, laughter and chatter filling the entire vicinity. As he walked, several people from all sides called out ‘hello’s to him, all familiar with the younger Maddox boy. He shot smirks and nods in their directions, and kept moving forward. He wasn’t sure what he was walking towards exactly, but he figured fate would eventually stop him somewhere.
He pulled out his phone briefly, just seeing that his brother had texted him quite a while ago to see where he was. He returned a quick text stating that he had arrived, and just after he hit the send button, he felt his shoulder collide with someone. He turned quickly to face the male he had just bumped into, who had also turned to him. Upon meeting eyes, he realized it was a guy he had a little fun with a few weeks ago. Jake... John... Jeff? Shit, the name escaped him. The taller man shot him a glistening smile, clearly eager to talk. Abel remembered how he had blown up his phone after that night, wanting to meet again, but the youngest Maddox never replied... he had too much work to do, and not enough interest in the man.
Abel let out a small half-smirk in his direction, winking at him. Just as Jake/John/Jeff opened his mouth to speak, Abel turned, continuing to amble through the crowd. If this guy was interested, he’d follow eventually. But for now, he wasn’t nearly interesting enough to keep Abel with him. He heard a faint ‘wait’ from behind him, but continued forward, grinning once again. This time, he saw the next figure he was about to bump into, and stopped in time. His eyes met a pair of familiar ones, and he raised his eyebrows.
“Happy Holi,” he mused casually, gazing around. “Did I miss thrilling events before I got here? Or is the night still young?”

One thing you envy about your brother?
I don’t envy him. We balance each other out, I think. And I am clearly the much more charming and undeniably better looking one.
His leadership abilities. How strong he is. His relationship with Dad.

what's going on with you and rosalie?
We have a good time. She knows how to properly let loose. If I’m not working and I need to blow off steam… she’s the best person to get lost with. So yeah, we kind of hang out. But I “hang out” with a lot of people, don’t I?
But I admit, Rosalie is one of the most genuinely tolerable.

favorite memory with weston?
Probably this one time, really shortly after Dad died. Maybe a week or two later. I remember still being depressed to the point that I wouldn’t come out of my room. At one point, Weston walked in, no knock or anything. Like it was his room, like he was meant to be there. He sat down on the bed next to me, and just started talking. About nothing, really. The only thing he didn’t mention was Dad. And at first, I wasn’t responding. But he just kept talking, like it didn’t even matter. And he was so cool about it, as if nothing was out of the ordinary. Finally, I started responding to stuff once in a while. It slowly just morphed into this hours long conversation about pretty much everything. He had me smiling and laughing for the first time since Dad. Weston’s just like that, though. He just… knows things. How to fix things. I don’t know. There’s no one else like him.

ofwestons‌:
The sight of his brother still looking sleep-deprived had Weston amused, though he did feel a bit bad for robbing the other male some hours of sleep before arriving as he did. But not enough for Weston to wait another couple of hours until he slept, well, if it didn’t turn into the late night since he was well aware of Abel’s wacky sleeping schedule. When they’d been younger he had tried to get his brother on some sort of schedule but he supposed some habits were hard to let go of. Much like his insistence that Abel’s place didn’t tidy up since this was usually what a bachelor’s place looked like, though Weston begged to differ. Not that it mattered really, but he sure loved to pull his leg whenever Weston got the chance to do so.
“An efficient one, honestly man, have you learned nothing from your big brother? You’re embarrassing me with this.” He responded with a mock look of disappointment before he saw that smile of Abel’s appear on his face that caused a matching one on his own features. Weston walked over and engulfed his little brother in his arms, his arms tightening around him a moment longer before he stepped back and inspected him. Other than looking tired and haggard, he appeared to be in one piece. At the younger Maddox’s next words, he couldn’t stop the laugh that escaped him, crossing his arms over his chest before responding. “When you put your mind to it baby bro, anything is possible. You need some bulking up yourself, if I hugged you any harder, I would be afraid of breaking your bones.” Returning the favor of his teasing, of course, his brother was fit but he was more on the lean and slender side than Weston’s bulkier frame. Though Abel didn’t seem to care much about working out as much as Weston did, he still pestered him to stay in shape, with their line of work it was already part of the job description. “Jealous?” He taunted with a small smirk.
“I could eat.” He responded before seating himself on the couch beside Abel who was in process of yawning. Weston shook his head, idly wondering where he’d gone off to so abruptly and then came back looking as if he hadn’t slept for days. He still intended to ask him or rather, grill him but he supposed he could wait before she started his usual big brother routine. “Oh, yeah, you know just stuck in a constant state of depression, wondering if my brother remembered me or not.” Weston put his hand over his heart in exasperation, ensuring his face conveyed the heartbreak. “You’re such a dick.” He said letting out a small snicker of amusement, Weston then raised a brow at him. “How did you manage without me? Looking like you do now, did you forget to take care of yourself?” The words were spoken casually, but there was still a hint of concern in his voice.
Tumblr media
Abel’s face twisted into one of mock-insult, throwing a dramatic hand to his chest. “Break my bones... me and my beautiful slender frame are insulted.” He grinned, dropping his hand. “Jealous? Don’t make me laugh.” As Weston sat on the couch beside him, he himself leaned back, closing his eyes for a moment while his older brother spoke, and stretching his legs out to rest his feet on the coffee table. While his eyes were still closed, he chuckled a bit, finally opening them to roll his head to the side to face his brother, a smile pasted onto his lips. “A dick, but you couldn’t live without me.” His words were teasing, but there was a warmth in them as well. He never really felt properly at home until he was with his brother.
He kept the smile on his face as Weston spoke again, but he felt it falter a bit. He knew Weston would always worry about him - it was just what he did. But every time Abel was reminded, he couldn’t help but feel like that much more of a burden on older brother. After their dad died, it got worse, because Abel knew that Weston felt he was taking on that responsibility as well. He didn’t want Weston to have to worry about him - the older Maddox boy had enough on his plate. Feeling all of this at again at once, he instead turned it into a joke, his slightly-faltering smile turning into a grin. “Managed better than ever, actually. The people couldn’t get enough of me... probably had something to do with the fact that they didn’t know I have a much more burly and manly older brother.” He let his face grow semi-serious for a moment, hints of a smile still lingering on his lips to keep any tension down. “I’m fine, Wes. Just tired.”
Just then, the doorbell rang, making Abel jump slightly, before letting out a breath of a laugh. “Shit. Must be the pizza. That was quick.” He hopped off the couch, and jogged to the door, opening it to the face of a very bored-looking teenager with a pizza box. After paying, Abel grabbed some napkins and paper towels from the kitchen, as well as a couple sodas from the fridge. When he returned, he placed it all on the coffee table. “I know, it’s not exactly your protein shakes and chicken breast, and I swear, I don’t usually eat this shitty. But I’m back, right? Celebration.” He raised his bottle of soda in Weston’s direction, before taking a swig. He opened the box of pizza, grabbing a slice as he spoke.
“Well? Anything interesting happen while I was gone? News or anything?”

what would you do if something happened to weston?
I have no idea. Literally, no clue. My brain can’t really process that, I guess. Weston is a rock. He’s my rock. Lost Mom and Dad already… if something happened to him… there’s nothing left. I’d lose my mind. I worry about it every day.

are you protective of anyone in kingston besides your family?
My family are the only people I’m protecting.
I mean, if I had to pick someone, I would say Rosie. Hell, she probably needs protection sometimes with the shit she gets into… but I’m usually getting into that same shit next to her. And she’d claim she could protect herself, anyway.
Kiran isn’t the worst, either.

rosalievillarreal‌:
“You owe me quite a few good times. Leaving me alone without my partner in crime was cruel.” She teased, mirroring his little smile. In truth, his absence hadn’t really affected her, but if feigning got her a more entertaining evening with Abel, so be it. Rosalie wasn’t above a little manipulation to get her way, and this incident was no different. When Abel took the blunt out of her hand, she released it willingly, happy to indulge him. He’d been smoking before, but the joint would bring a better high. It was one of her favorite strands, after all.
Rosalie watched his lips wrap around the blunt before it made its was back over to her. Fingers spread to accept the joint, securing it between her index and middle fingers. When he asked her to decide on something to do that neither of them had participated in before, Rosalie nearly hit a loss. Her lips wrapped around the filter of her joint, and she took a slow drag off it before holding the smoke in her lungs again. When she released the smoke, a smirk developed on her lips as she leaned closer and placed it back between Abel’s lips. “Well, I have a boat.”  She mused.
“What do you say we ditch this place, where we’re bound to get thrown out eventually because we don’t play by the rules.” Rosalie offered, tilting her head at him as she arched a deep brow at the other. “My boat has no rules, no distractions. Simple, easy fun with probably one of the few people in this city that actually appreciate it.” Buzzkills were the vain of her existence, and she could imagine that Abel felt the same way. Leaning closer yet again, Rosalie let the bridge of her nose trail up the curve of his ear before letting her lips brush the lobe as she added what she hoped would be the last incentive he’d need to agree with her. “Plus, I look killer in and out of a bikini.”
The smaller girl leaned back and cradled her drink against her chest as she waited for the wheels to turn in his head. It wasn’t an offer anyone else had gotten so far. Of course, she’d taken others out on the boat, but never to participate in such illicit activities. She was supposed to be a peace keeper and not have favorites within the other four families, but there was a small soft spot held for the other across from her. He was the only person that had ties to the four families that she let see her like this, and maybe it was because she trusted him more for some odd reason. “If that isn’t up to what you had in mind, then you can come up with something to do, and I’ll play along.”
Tumblr media
“Oh, I’m sure you were just devastated without me. Surely you were sat up in your room without a clue of what to do,” he drawled, a mock-exasperated tone dripping from his lips. , He looked at Rosalie with sarcastically wide eyes, before looking back away with a small smirk, drumming his fingers on the table as he continued to peer around the room. He could feel motion beside him, and gazed back to her as she reached the joint back to his lips. His mouth took it seamlessly, and he inhaled yet again, before gently pulling it away.
He held the smoke in his lungs as she spoke of her plan, and his head remained turned toward her, but his eyes flickered downward in thought. Wasn’t a bad idea, he had to admit. The trouble, the lawlessness. It widened the grin on his face slightly. Finally, he exhaled, a plum of smoke clouding into the air before them. After allowing a brief moment without words, Abel looked back to the brunette. He spoke in a low hum, barely audible over the sound of the music.
“Your boat, hm?” He mused. He hadn’t been on the water in a while. And on a night like tonight... it could be interesting. He was feeling the high well now, that calm fog in his head settling. Just then, he felt the girl’s nose graze against the side of his ear ever so gently, and felt a small rush run over him, before smirking to himself as she whispered in his ear. There was a brief moment before she pulled away that her face was still just as close to his, and he turned to fully face her, peering at her with only an inch separating them. “Don’t doubt that. But you might have to prove it.”
As she leaned back, so did he. He knew he had matters to for his uncle attend to in the morning. He knew how he preached of never mingling with the other families for recreational reasons. But what was life if you couldn’t have a good time? Fuck it, it wasn’t like he was spilling anything to her. And this certainly wasn’t the pair’s first delinquent rodeo.
He took another deep inhale of her joint, but didn’t return it this time. “Good enough for me. As long as you’ve got plenty of party goods on that thing.” He pulled himself off the seat, before gazing back down at Rosie, eyebrows raised. Another drag, before he waved the joint between his fingers in the air, as if an offer if she got up with him. “Let’s get out of here, then.”

rosalievillarreal‌:
Both of her brothers were preoccupied for the night, which meant she had free reign of all the boroughs. Summervale was a possibility, but Rosalie decided she’d venture a little farther away from home for the night. She dressed herself in an beige, understated body con dress that illuminated every last inch of her body. Her hair was pulled into a fairly messy up do, leaving a few pieces hanging around the borders of her face. It was a look that’d allow her to drift from place to place without seeming out of place.
To be fair, it’d also draw a wide variety of companions to her side as well. She called her driver, not wanting to bother with having to walk home later dropped the name of a bar she frequented rather often. She was sure there would be a few familiar faces to join whatever trouble she felt like dipping into. Yet, a flash of curls managed to surprise her.
Abel Maddox was a striking contrast to his brother in the letting lose department. They’d gotten into their fair share of trouble together in the past before he’d up and vanished for a good amount of time. If she were honest, she’d missed him if only for the reason of him understanding the allure of partying. Out of all of the five families, they were the only two that truly dipped into this particular brand of fun. So, when he walked over and found a seat in her section, Rosalie was all too happy to welcome him there.
Rosalie smirked with a grin of a shared mindset. Producing a joint from her own bag, she leaned closer, pressing the butt of the joint up against the smoldering edge of his own until it took. She sucked in a long pull, allowing the smoke to find a home in her lungs as her shoulders dropped with content. “More like that kind of life.” Eyes ran over Abel slowly before she shook her head. “Been a while since I’ve seen you out. Are we going to pretend I care why you disappeared, or are we going to make up for lost time?” A dangerous smirk curled the edges of her lips up as she waited for an answer that she assumed she already knew.
Tumblr media
Abel didn’t trust people. It was a fact that he generally kept to himself, but was easily found out when strangers attempted to get too much out of him, and he expertly diverted their attention. Even less trust was found for the other four powerful families in Kingston. More of a moderate respect, sure. But his uncle had always warned him about how they would be quick to betray the Maddox’s should they need to... that the relationship had to remain strictly professional. It was a rule Abel had no issues adhering to. However, there were very few people that quite understood the true meaning of completely letting loose, and Rosalie was perhaps his most kindred spirit in that regard. When it came to delinquent activities (that he wasn’t getting paid for), the two were undeniably, wordlessly on the same wavelength. Which was why he was glad, if he had to run into anyone on his last day off, it was that exact Villarreal.
He let out a small smirk in her direction that unconsciously matched her own as she reached into her bag. He immediately knew what she was reaching for, and rested back in his seat, contentedly watching her produce the joint. He leaned in as she did, the pair pressing two edges - one smoking, one unburnt - together, like clockwork. As it took, Abel slowly pulled away, and drew the cigarette from his lips. Letting out a light breath of a laugh at her words, half-shrugging. He took a couple more long drags in silence, burning the cigarette to a small butt, before extinguishing it in the ash tray in front of them.
He waited for her to finish speaking, before wordlessly reaching out and taking the joint from her fingers. Finally, the night was starting. He took a long drag, before leaning back and closing his eyes, the tiniest hint of a grin dancing on his lips. He let the silence linger between the two even further holding the smoke in his lungs for as long as he could, before letting out a long exhale. His head, still leaning back on the wall, rolled to the side to face Rosalie. The tiny upturn on his lips remained. “Lot of making up to do.”
He glanced around the club, bringing the blunt back to his lips, inhaling as he observed. There was everything from tipsy strangers trying to get drunker, to blackout blitzed youths dancing and making out into oblivion, and everything in between. And here the night was, still very young. His green eyes continued to dance silently around the room for another moment, before turning back to the girl beside him, handing the joint back to her.  “Name something neither of us have ever done. Something new. That’s how we’ll make up for it.”
