Assignment 2
Issues In Mass Communication
Mass2620
Date: May 31, 2020
ID: 118605
----------------------------------------------------
In the beginning, there are too many subjects on the internet that we cant count. Many of them can be related to others. But we must pay attention and think correctly to see that. However, in this assignment, I will connect what I learn from the class material to what I wrote in Tumbler then I will criticize it.
The first subject we wrote about is disinformation. When I wrote about it I learn that disinformation is used in different ways and forms such as in politics and everyday life as well. On the other hand, I learn from class material that disinformation needs to curiosity about a wide range of issues, Concern to become and settle well-informed and Trust in the methods of reasoned inquiry. Why? because we must investigate and know the correct news from the false. Moreover, this subject is related to many other subjects from the class material. For example, critical thinking and misinformation and disinformation also bias and media literacy... etc. For instance, media literacy is very related to disinformation. The first learn us the tools needed to realise that the choices of how and where being made. For example, Who produced this news? how owns it?. Disinformation is clear to you the power of the media.
Next, we wrote about cognitive strategies. I learn from researching that it is used to handle new information and the way we analys and think. From the class material "critical thinking" needs some skills such as interpreting, analysing, reasoning and evaluating. In my opinion, I recognise it is linked in a way that each one completes the other. For your knowledge, critical thinking is one of many points of cognitive strategy. For instance, cognitive preparation. Furthermore, I think if we develop our skills from cognitive strategies and learn more about it our critical thinking will be more organized.
Following, we researched the communication used in world war one and two, the cold war and Iraq invasion. In these four crises, you can recognise the power of media on society. Joseph Goebbels and the use of the media is an example. He used the media power to let the Nazis loyally follow their president...etc. Such as what in-class material "media histories, media power" who the key actors were in these changes. On the other hand, The great development in the field of communication. From the dogs and Pigeons to Radios and Telephones. Researching about those crises makes our brains more open to what in-class material. The subject makes us see the development of communication from the past to the present.
On the other week, we wrote about the present gender, race and class. When I research I learn many theories about it. I learn how the media show the difference between man and women. Also how the media use the women as a tool to their interest. On the other hand, we see the transgender in many media platforms. Why the media show us these thumping ideas? from the course material "media as an agent of social changes" the audience use the media in a significant amount. As we study there are many goals for media. For example, it uses to change belives, ideologies and values. From course material "understanding the media" "In culture, the mass media are the main channel of cultural representation and expression". On the other hand, media is media we will see many subjects and many different beliefs from several viewpoints. But as we are media student we must ask the correct answers at the right time.
After days, we investigated a new subject. "Selfie and Narcissism" by researching I wrote that there is a link between selfie and narcissism but it's difficult to know. From what I learn from class material "new media" people use social media "for information, entertainment, for socializing and experiencing a sense of community, and for staying in touch with friends". In my opinion, there is I few of them we can say that they are narcissism. But I think the rest uses social media to communicate with others in society.
Afterwards, we addressed how to identify hate speech in media content. From the past, until now almost all of as having identified hate speech in some platforms. Moreover, I think that hate speech is a way to control someone and a try to change views. According to class material "bias in media" people can be biased into ideas that they believe. For instance, opinions about colour, a religion, a political party, or a species. by that, they use hate speech to support their beliefs.
Later, we wrote about the role of media in health education in a crisis. The media uses health education during the crisis to improve knowledge and developing life skills to a healthfuller community. According to "representation and responsibilities" class, a paper about psychological theories describe how television might lead to changes in values, beliefs, attitudes and behaviours. From that, we learn the important role of media in Literacy and education. As well as the cultivation theory.
Following, we reproduced about comics in the time of COVID-19. As we learn from "comics" class, Visual narratives have become a popular tool for education and communication. So in this period, we have seen much of comics used by official agencies more than public accounts in social media. In my opinion, its an interesting way to educate or delivering messages to the audience. But I don't see it very often in social media unless in accounts belonging to the official authorities.
Then, we answered about "do citizens has the right to know or not?" and from my view, I do not encourage that citizens must know everything because of misinformation by citizens. On the other hand, as an official media, I don't share everything to citizens because of propaganda and disinformation against the country. Moreover, in this subject we don't have the power to choose what it's correct because there are political matters we must do not to interfere with it to avoid problems, temptation and national security.
the last subject was written is "perspectives about media ethics challenges". The ethics in media has changed from the past. It is never the same. Also in future its, there will be a difference from what we notice know. Furthermore, in media there are many moral laws that the media person must adhere to. But it changes from time to time. however, it is a matter of personal responsibilities.
In conclusion, all of the titles are related to class materials. The time we spend researching about them makes us more proficient in what is in the course. Moreover, we learn new angels in every subject that were not in class material. every one of us has learned something different from others by writing different opinions about the cases.

Perspectives about media ethics challenges
Due to the crisis of coronavirus, many of the media face some sort of problems. moreover, One of these problems is the changes happening with media new days. also, the ethical challenges that media face.
The traditional media is one of the most offenders in this time because of the social distance and the dominance of electronic media. On the other hand, The new media has become on the right path to becoming the dominant one in the coming years. moreover, it is possible to see newspapers from the past.
too many people facing problems with individual private information due to coronavirus such as doctors. too many impersonators are in social media. they can speak as they are the doctor and give wrong information and spreading rumours.
many governments around the world are interfering with the privacy of citizens. they are using famous applications the citizens used to enter GPS systems to study the citizen's movement.
in my opinion, The media must support the citizens and behave in a way more ethically. for example, they should not publish the names of those affected by the virus to avoid being bullied. on the other hand, citizens must respect the government and media also not to spread rumours that harm the public interest.

do the citizens has the right to know or not?
nowadays media is very important in all the world. It's very effective for society in all subjects. The citizens take the all-important information about his country from the media. on the other hand, media can affect negatively in society if there is propaganda or used in the wrong way.
•Do citizens have the right to know?
in my opinion, The citizens have the right to know information that is not sensitive. also, they have the freedom to know the information about them such as laws and rights.
•Citizens do NOT need to know?
in my view, the government must be transparent in the information that belongs to citizens for their public interest. on the other hand, not all the information must publish in media because of the interest of the state and public security.
•The solution?
I think there must be a balance between them. the government should publish what the people want but in a way that does not allow you to create problems or controversy.

COMICS IN THE TIME OF COVID-19
The illustration is one of the arts for delivering information to various forms of communication platforms. In all parts of the world, there are some cannot write and read. But they can understand the content of the images he sees. The drawing does not have a specific language but anyone who sees it can understand it. For example, a French artist creates a specific subject. Most people who see the image can understand its content because the illustration has the ability to inform the message in a clever way.
I picked this 4 comics because it's telling a problem and describe it precisely. furthermore, the story behind the image is very deep. also, the pictures describe the condition of the world.
In the first picture, we see that the moon expresses the world before the crisis, and it exits every night without problems. But the coronavirus sits on it smiling and prevents it from breathing. this is what the disease does on the real world it attacks the patient's respiratory system. In my view, this comice was considered an ironic illustration of what is happening around the world.

In the second picture, the drawing reflects the situation of the war in Syria. On the right, we see the WHO, which says, "You have no one infected because you have no humans". On the left is the head of state, while eating the flesh of his people, and he is drowned in blood. This supports the situation of war and destruction left in his country. And the poor health condition in most cities.
The third caricature reflects the situation of the market with healthy products such as masks. In the picture, we see the price of the masks, before and after the crisis. Before the crisis, its price was considered very cheap, but after its happening, the price increased significantly.

This image reflects the great effort made by doctors and their attempt to stop the spread of the disease. During this period, the real hero who will save the world is the doctor and not the imaginative heroes in movies.
