"ALADDIN: A FILM ANALYSIS USING

MULTIMODAL AND SEMIOTIC APPROACH"

"Alladin" is a 2019 live-action remake of the 1992 animated film of the same name, produced by Walt Disney Pictures. The story of the movie centers on Alladin, a street thief who discovers a magical lamp and uses it to summon a powerful blue genie who will grant him any three wishes he desires.

Literary elements such as symbolism, dialogue, music, and camera angles have been employed to educate the audience about life lessons derived from the film's topics and ideas. Thus, the director utilizes symbolism to uncover the themes and ideas for the audience.

Jafar, the antagonist in Disney's live-action Aladdin, embodies wickedness. He devotes his life to exacting retribution on those who have underestimated him and taming his part in attaining what he desires. In the moment where Aladdin retrieves the lamp for Jafar, who led him to the cave, only to be betrayed by him and stuck in the cave that has collapsed. This scene depicts Jafar as a cunning man with a thirst for the throne and power.

In the film, the director uses dialogue to convey the concept of friendship. Aladdin is depicted as quick-witted and ultimately compassionate. As a result, unlike most of the genie's prior masters, Aladdin considers the genie as a human rather than a servant. The statement "I wish to set you free" helps raise the idea of friendship to the audience in the scene where Aladdin uses his last wish to set the genie free. Furthermore, Aladdin teaches us the importance of friendship. Nonetheless, when Aladdin granted Genie his final wish, he displayed true friendship. Aladdin values friendship over fortune.

The film explores the concept of hope using camera angles, symbolism, and music. In the scene where Aladdin exchanges the stolen treasures for a bag of dates, which he then offers to the hungry family. A wide-angle lens is utilized to make the family appear weak and vulnerable. This influences the audience's emotional response to be melancholy.

Furthermore, when Aladdin notices the hungry family, the background music is sorrowful and low in volume. However, as he gave the dates to the family, the background music begins to lift and create a heartwarming sense for the audience. As a result, the audience's emotional response stresses the need of being altruistic and charitable to others and giving them hope.

"FROZEN MOVIE ANALYSIS USING

MULTIMODAL AND SEMIOTICS APPROACH"

I figured it would be enjoyable to use the movie "Frozen," which I've seen so many times that I can't even remember how many. I have no trouble recalling any specifics, and I think that conducting an analysis of this movie would be enjoyable. I always watch movies with subtitles so that I can grasp more of the content and grow my knowledge in the field of linguistics.

In the first five minutes of the film, there is a scene in which men are shown harvesting ice from a frigid mountain in order to make a livelihood. This is an indication of determination and a low standard of living.

In the beginning of the movie which I can identify as gestural, it depicted how Anna and Elsa are playing with using Elsa's powers, but accidently struck Anna, causing her to tumble to the ground. This demonstrates a childlike caring and innocence.

In preparation for the coronation, both sisters are singing and responding to the lyrics of the other. This exemplifies the ability to communicate and comprehend.

Last but not least, there was the ballroom, which housed the spatial. The fact that the coronation was attended by a significant number of individuals indicates, when viewed in the greater context, how wealthy their family is.

The scene in the movie Frozen where Elsa sang her heart out while she was on her ice palace stood out to me as an example of multimodal storytelling. Not only does this demonstrate visually where in her complexity she looked to be more fair, but it also demonstrates through her gestures how she was so self-assured when she was able to optimize her strengths and abilities.

I'm a girl who sees the sea as a source of comfort and relaxation in this world full of uncertainties. I often call it as my "healing place" and "escape" because when I'm there, my mental and emotional exhausted self forgets about all my troubles; I don't have to consider the judgment and opinion of others; I can be myself, my actual self, without worrying about what others think of me or what expectations I have to meet.
