Open Work Title: Blooming Process(es): painting Materials: Acrylic paint on canvas Dimensions: 27inch x 27inch

I wanted to create an abstract art for my open work. The work in create by heavenly inspired on the blooming of flower. the contrast between fire and water. Draw with bold and neat bushstroke to create unique lines in painting. I love how the work turns out and look better then I expect. however, I look and little messy with too many line in the edge. I would reduce the line on the edge so the focus point will be the orb in the middle of the painting.

Open Work 2

Open Work Title: Sunset flow Process(es): saw wood and paint Materials: plywood, acrylic paint

Dimensions: 4 small fish: 4cm x 2.5 cm large fish: 6.5cm x 4cm

I sawed the plywood into 5 different fishes with dimension from 2.5 cm - 6.5 cm. I paint it with acrylic on the top. The colour are inspired of the sunset. each is paint with different pattern and styles. the edge of the fish is not smooth. I would like to sand it out to create more volume smooth curve edge.

Open Work 1

Open Work Title: Starlight Night Materials: glue, fabric, paper Collaborator: Thanh Bach Nguyen Process(es): Collage Dimensions: 42cm x 59,4cm

we want to create art using collage technique. We create this art using fabric strip place on the paper based on the colour scheme and lines on the Starry night artwork by Vangogh. The artwork look amazing with cold tone from colour like darkblue, blue and black highlighted with yellow colour of the moon. Overall I love how this work turns out. the artwork have a lot of texture from fabric and harden glue. The strip placement on the sky is not that neat on my collage. I would like to make it more neat by cutting the strip thinner and place it the squirl shape.

Task 5: OBJECT

Produce a 3D print of a digital composition using the application TinkerCAD (5hrs)

This is the first time I experience with 3D modelling. TinkerCAD is easy to use and I work with it well.

for this 3D model thats connect with my face scan. I want to work with things that I like so I add sealife. there are fish, coral and a whale floating on my head with some sea bubbles to create atmosphere. This is my favourite artwork in the semester. Overall I am happy with this work.

Task 4: PERFORMANCE

In pairs, devise and present a 1-minute performance action in response to an allocated term from the following list: TENSION - CONCENTRATION - ESCAPE - AVOIDANCE - CONNECTION - REJECTION - RECORD - FORCE - INFLUENCE – UNITY. (2hrs)

this is our performance on a vietnamese rock games. To decided who go first, we throw up all the rock and try to catch with one hand. who have more rock go first. to prepare the game, we throw all the rock laying on the ground randomly. 1st round, the person throw the rock up the air and snatch 1 rock on the ground and catch the rock as it fall down. repeat the process untill snatch all the rock to start next round. on the second round, that person throw the rock up the air and snatch 2 rock on the ground and catch the rock as it fall down. the progress continue until 3-4-5 rocks.

This games shows the CONNECTION of the performance.

Consider your family and/or cultural background. What kind of processes do you connect with this background? (e.g. cultural practices, traditions, habits, routines, rituals, mannerisms, language, etc) Identify a process from your background and use this as the basis of an artwork (5hrs)

I was born in an artistic family. My mom and dad working together in a stone scultpture business. their sculpture always inspire me a lot since I grow up with it as a part of my life.

I want to do a sculpture with clay based on a life drawing art that I drew before.

Task 3: Backgrounding Process(es): modelling Materials: clay Dimensions: 20 cm x 5 cm x 3.5 cm

I am really happy with how it turns out. the dimension size look the same in the life drawing. the curve, the bone shape gives the sculpture more emotion and came to life.

Task 2: SUBTRACTION

Review your Open Works from KVB117 and produce a new addition to this body of work that uses only subtractive processes (gouging, carving, scraping, sanding, scoring, perforation, etc). Works can feature any material, format or theme (5hrs).

I selected carving technique to work on since I love working on sculpture and 3D art piece. For the carving I will work with carving stone since it is not harsh for first learner for me to work on and it have a nice stone cement texture.

Since it has a cement, stone like texture I want to do some fossil like then I come up with nautilus fossil since it related to my work from KVB117 and also have a nice squirl pattern on it

Task 2: Subtraction Subtractive processes: Carving Materials: carving stone Dimensions: 25cmx25cmx12.5 cm

I am not really happy with how it turns out. the shell pattern is not soft and curve enough also the size is not from big to smaller when it squirl to the core. I will work more on the dimension, techique to carve it softer with accurate dimension

Once you have completed this list, use a chance-based method to select one verb and produce a 4-hr work derived from the sustained application of this verb.  As you develop your work, consider how the verb can be applied as BOTH a process and a formal/compositional feature (5hrs)

Verb= droop

I selected the word 'drop' to based my work on. When i though about 'Droop' i want to drop and destroy something. I decided to go with dropping clay sculpture since other material is breakable and not reuseable after breaking it. i will modelling clay with different animal shape, food, insect with some smily face on it. When working on it I really enjoy and it is really nonstalgia since I really love to play with clay since I was young and always smashing it after finishing.

this is the finishing clay product with different shapes of my favourite things

I name this work "compressed clay" since they all look like they has been compressed when they drop down the table. I love how the dropping create a smashing compress effect on the clay. I would love to try more technique using force like drop, smash or hit in my artwork in the future
