My Aaron Minyard hc du jour is that I want him to have a good relationship with Katelyn's parents. I've seen a lot of fics with Andrew's mother-son bond with Bee, and father-son bond with Wymack, but I always wonder about Aaron. I've seen it suggested that he has a good relationship with Abby, and I love that, but I also want him to have some positive experiences with his future family, yknow? the idea that Katelyn's parents don't like him makes me a bit sad bc like, for god's sake that kid has had a bad enough relationship with parental figures already.

Is it really that much of a stretch? Katelyn's obvs loving and accepting, maybe she picked this up from her parents. Maybe her parents heard about the Drake trial and followed it very, very closely (out of concern for their daughter of course), and that's how they learnt just how much Aaron has gone through, and really start to appreciate his resilience and character, and idk, maybe they just LIKE him. Maybe they trust him with Kate bc, look how far he went to protect his brother, another person he loves. And maybe they have professions that also give them a better understanding of how difficult the world can be. Maybe one of them works for a nonprofit, maybe the other is a lawyer (the kind that works for vulnerable people and not big corporations). So maybe Katelyn grew up with an understanding of how challenging some people's lives are, and that's why she's so accepting of Aaron—she sees him, she doesn't judge him, and neither does her family.

Idk, just a thought. I really just want Aaron to have a good experience with parental figures. Like maybe he comes to visit for the first time over Christmas or smth and for the first time in his life, understands what it's like to be part of a loving and supportive family. I want him to feel loved and emotional and happy for once.

Ame the type of guy to one day be like nah bro sorry can’t eat anything but plain rice and chicken rn or else I’ll fuck up my obsessively meticulous meal plan, and then the next day he eats like a wrestler trying to gain as much as possible before his weigh in, and he has no in-between. I love that he canonically is a work out freak and I love that he’s insecure about his weight teehee haha!!!

Matthew is just naturally fit because of his lifestyle and when Ame complains about his weight it really annoys him hahaha. I also think Alfred only complains to Mattie about his weight insecurity which pisses off mattie even more, bc to everyone else Ame brags about how much he works out all the time.

When I was living in Toronto I was surprised by how proud Canadians were of their WW1 and WW2 history/involvement, and I feel like Mattie wears his dog tags all the time. I think Alfred does the same, but he does it bc he thinks it makes him look cool which pisses Mattie off bc he thinks he started the trend first and Ame is copying him 🙄

I also think they both got shitty tattoos in the 40s bc I said so. Canadians are obsessed with their air force and Americans are obsessed with marines.
