Her brows knitted as he sighed in relief, and her gaze becoming more serious. She didnât answer, did she? Maybe she had done something wrong, gave some clue to him that she wasnât aware of. It made her nervous that she had been unable to hide something so important. Her tummy was quivering in her nervousness, but something else brushed across her mind to soothe the feeling. Still, she didnât trust him; he didnât make any sense.
Her eyes narrowed when he sat next to her. Conspicuously, she scooted down the bench and crossed her arms in front of her chest. âIf mamaâs your friend, she would listen to you without my help,â she said stubbornly.Â
His hand shifted next to his side, and she cocked her head. Without knowing how, she knew that it wasnât there, not really. She peeked up at him again. She couldnât help her curiosity. âPeople she loved?â
The Swan's Little Lass
With a exaggerated exhale, Hook displayed his immediate relief that the lass really had inherited that gift. Heâd never spent much time getting to know the little lass, so he really hadnât known the answer until she answered it. With that verified, he seemed to feel safer moving closer, sitting down even. His left âhandâ rested against his body, unmoving.
âI know you donât remember me,â he started, but left out that neither did her mother. âBut I need your help, lass. I need to convince your mother to hear me out, because if she doesnât, people she loved are in serious trouble. Sheâs the only one who can help.â
And he didnât see his next conversation with her going any better than the first at the door.Â

She scrawled through the drawing, her green crayon whittled down to practically nothing as she colored in the trees. The keys jangling at the door caught her attention, though, and a bright smile lit her face.
She hopped out of her chair and ran out of the kitchen. Grandma patted a hand through her curls as she passed, a laugh in her voice as she told her to slow down. The door opened, and mama came through, the gleaming badge at her hip.
She nodded enthusiastically. âDid you catch any bad guys, mama?â
@a-special-connection â STARTER CALL
His jacket still hung at the station, his badge at her hip & shoe string still    laced    around    her    wrist.
Emma had to work through the loss though; she   had   two   kids   to   take   care   of.
The blonde walked through the door of her parentâs home & was greeted by her daughter. Sometimes it hurt. Her daughter was a reminder of what Emma & Graham once had.
â Did you have fun with Grandma and Grandpa today? â

She frowned when he clarified that Cora got what she wanted. She thought about it for a moment, absently chewing on a fry. She finally decided that it was still good that grandpa made a new friend, even if he didnât foil Coraâs plan right at that moment.
She perked up when he mentioned the deal mama made. âHis son was in New York?â she asked. New York had special meaning, even if she didnât remember it. âThatâs where I was born, right, daddy?â
The book didnât mention much about Rumplestiltskinâs son, just that he wanted his papa to not be a villain anymore. The Dark One refused even though he felt bad about it, and his son had a magic bean that sent him away. She never imagined that it would send him to New York.Â
But when people talked about Rumplestiltskin, they never mentioned his son. She brought bright eyes up to meet his. âThey didnât find him, did they? Or else he would have helped make him less dark, right?â That seemed to be what the book tried to say, that love would win out over evil. And there was enough evidence of such in the town.Â

She wasnât even aware of someone else in the room until her hair was pushed back. She flinched, her whole body sparking with electricity, and immediately she slammed her palms backwards into the wall so it would take the brunt of her force. The magic zapped outwards, splintering the plaster from floor to ceiling until she was sure it was expelled. Â
It took endless seconds before the cobwebs cleared and she recognized her fatherâs face in front of her. She opened her mouth, trying to form a coherent response. Was she hurt? There should have been a burning from where his foot hit her side, or sharpness where her own blade had nicked her palm, but there was nothing. Just cold.Â
She swallowed, trying once more to reply, but the words that escaped had nothing to do with her well-being. âI knew him,â she said, eyes wide and distant. âI knew him.â

Gremma Musketeers-inspired AU: Knight Takes Queen (1/?)
Graham is of the Kingsguard, after an act of mercy brought him to the Kingâs attention, rising him from poor orphan to decorated knight. His history makes him an outsider amongst the others of the order, but with his family lost he has little choice in the Kingâs commanded position.
Emma of Misthaven has recently become the Queen of this neighboring land. The King isnât cruel, but the marriage was political and his dalliances many. More and more, Emma feels ignored and isolated in this foreign country.Â
An attack on the new Queen causes Graham to rise to a higher position: Protector of the Queen. His expectations of a pampered princess are dampened to find the free-spirited Emma, and he is alarmed to find that she sparks something within him. Likewise, the Queen finds the one thing her parents had always wished she had in the eyes of her knight.
Their attraction isnât helped by their closeness, and on a trip to her home-country, their treason is committed. Now there is an heir to the throne whose eyes donât quite match the Kingâs, and a love that is not extinguished by the danger that lurks in the secret.

His face screwed up slightly once she told him the schoolâs policy, his eyebrows quirking. A giggle built inside of her at his bewilderment, and she would have let it out if she wasnât feeling so wary still. As it was, the feeling that liked to bead inside her was shifting back and forth, not quite settling into alarm or comfort quite yet.Â
Her eyes narrowed as he called himself mamaâs friend. Her stomach seized, but it wasnât quite like it did with a lie. Whatever was wrong about the statement, he at least sort of believed it. But that didnât make sense; mama hadnât even tried to listen to him, had slammed the door shut on his face and snuck them off to the bus once she was sure the hall was clear. That wasnât something you did with friends.
She perked up at his question, her head cocking to the side. She studied his face for a long moment, blue-green eyes serious. âYou do know mama,â she finally pronounced. She didnât answer his question, though. She didnât trust him to know about the feeling that guided her interactions. âHow come you wanna know?â
The Swan's Little Lass
Why would someone need a bloody nametag?Â
Killian wanted to say it out loud, but he stopped himself, in part because of the hesitation heâd already felt having approached the youngest member of this small displaced family. At least he could suss out what a nametag must have been, which was more than he could say for so many things people had mentioned to him since the magic bean brought him into this loud, smelly city.
At least the school had a modicum of what heâd been used to back in Storybrooke, but even thenâ far too many children.
Heâd tried to follow Henry, deeming the older child to be a better target, but he had lost him in the distanceâ he had been lucky to keep track of where this one went. These schools seemed to be closer to the respective high up homes.
âI am an⌠old friend of your motherâs, lass.â He hesitated before the friend, perhaps because of her earlier reaction and the fact she had no idea who he was, or because he had no idea if most people would have even considered them friends. He respected her, liked her, admired her even. Friend seemed suitable to him.
How was he going to pull this off? He needed a way to get close to Swan again, to convince her. He had no doubt lives depended on it. Not his own, even. Attempting the hero thing again was exhausting.Â
âWould you have happened to have inherited your momâs super power by any chance?âÂ

No Hesitation
It took a second to register what happened, and the knifeâs clatter to the ground felt like a punctuation to it.Â
She backed into the corner of the room, hands covering her mouth as she crumpled against the wall. Her breaths came short and irregular, her whole body trembling violently. She noticed that her hands were still smeared bright crimson, staining her clothes and face, and she could only stare at them blankly as they still faintly sparked.
A cold settled over her, numbness permeating her entire soul. She tried to scream, to feel something, but the sound that escaped was strained, muffled, hollow in her ears. A voice was calling her name, but it felt distant, like in a dream. She couldnât register it; instead, her focus was on not looking to the limp body that remained in the center of the room.

Storytelling
(followed from here)
once-a-huntsman
âTiny had one last magic bean, although it was dead and withered. She was able to use the waters of Lake Nostos to make it magical again. She used that to get here, and bring Tiny with her.â Along with the pirateâs ship, for some reason, although in the end they had needed it, so he supposed it was for the best.
âUnfortunately Tiny had some bad history with your Grandpaâs brother James. And we had some trouble convincing him that David wasnât James. The only person he was willing to believe was Mama, and she was out of town.â Trying to deal with the giant had kept them quite well distracted while Cora and Regina moved ahead with their own plans.
âBut grandpa saved his life and we were able to talk him around. Which is how he came to be one of the dwarves.â Sometimes Tiny fit in so well with the rest of the dwarves it was easy to forget he was once a giant.
( @wolf--and--arrow )
Her eyes crinkled in a smile as she looked up at him, head cocked to the side. âItâs funny to think of Tiny being even bigger,â she said. She leaned back against his chest as she took a sip of her drink. âDid Cora bring Tiny because she knew he didnât like grandpaâs brother? Then grandpa tricked her because he was able to make friends with him?â
She remembered about grandpa having a twin, how that was why he and Miss Abigail were almost married that once. It was part of grandma and grandpaâs story, and so it was in the book. It was the parts that werenât in the book that were much more exciting.
Her brow creased as she considered his words a little more carefully. âMama wasnât there? Why not?â She couldnât understand mama leaving town just when things were getting interesting, when daddy had only just come back.

The Swan's Little Lass
It was nearing the end of lunchtime, and Eva had long since finished her sandwich and drink. She still stayed at the table beside the gated enclosure, though, the sun having finally made its way through the buildings. It was warm and comfortable, and she felt more happy sitting there than joining the others on the blacktop.
Her legs swung rhythmically as she flipped through the book her teacher had given her, but some warning crept her spine as the table creaked under a new weight.
Eva scooted down the bench, further away from the dark-haired man that had chosen the seat next to her. She wasnât supposed to, but she had seen him that morning. He was the one that mama had slammed the door on. He hadnât addressed her yet, but his bright blue gaze was steady on her and she could practically feel his hesitation, and the panic that was bubbling just underneath.Â
âYouâre not allowed to be at school without a nametag,â she finally said.

As a glare flares across her vision, she sees Bae and the nameless child pass through her mind with white-hot feelings of regret. But she has her love holding her close, so it is not all for naught. He loves her wildly and she loves him back. She reaches a finger to weakly stroke his jaw, whispering that she loves him one final time. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Their love was worth it all.
