Sometimes I just feel so damn tired of fighting to deal with life from day to day... but my love for my family keeps me going... it’s exhausting and I feel more broken every single day.

“Choose a major that will pay the bills and choose a minor in something that you really enjoy” is a better piece of advice than “Choose a major you love and you’ll never have to work a day”

I wish people didn’t treat others like crap
It sucks when you live with someone who takes advantage of you at every turn but you’re not in a position to do anything about it.

Let’s Talk About Tax Brackets
Since some people (read: conservatives) are freaking out over the idea of TaXiNg RiCh PeOpLe, let’s talk about tax brackets.
Currently, we have seven tax brackets in the US, at rates between 10% and 37%. All income over $500,000 – whether that’s $500,001 or $1 billion – is taxed, at most, at 37%. What Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has proposed is increasing the tax bracket so that people who are very rich and making millions of dollars a year would pay a higher tax bracket (70%).
The response is, basically, “But what if I suddenly get ten million dollars? Then I’ll have to pay 70% of my millions! That’ll make me worse off than if I merely had nine million!”
This comes up in shit around taxes a lot (”Don’t get a raise, you’ll have a higher tax bracket!”), so let’s address this using simple math.
Pretend that tax bracket goes like this: if you make $15 or less, you pay no taxes. If you make $16-30 dollars, they take away 10%. If you make $31-45, they take away 15%. At $46 or more, they take away 20%.
That doesn’t mean that if you make $16, you have that 10% taken from the total income. You don’t get $1.60 taken away from you. You have that 10% taken from every dollar you make over $15. In this case, only $1 is over $15, so only that dollar gets 10% taken out of it (and you lose $0.10). The rest of the money is taxed at the lower rate (which in this case is 0%).
Say that you make $42, so you’re taxed at 15%. So that means that every year, you pay $6.30, right?
No. You pay:
Nothing on the first $15 (0% of 15 is $0), plus
10% on all the money between $16 and $30 (10% of 15 is $1.50), plus
15% on all the money between $31 and 42 (15% of 12 is $1.80)
So actually you’re only paying $3.30. You have $38.70 left over.
Now you get a raise. You make $50, which pushes you into the next highest tax bracket. Oh, no, that means that they'll take away 20% of your $50, so you’ll have to spend a whole $10!
No. Let’s do the math again.
You pay:
Nothing on the first $15 (0% of 15 is $0), plus
10% on all the money between $16 and $30 (10% of 15 is $1.50), plus
15% on all the money between $31 and $45 (15% of 15 is $2.25), plus
20% on all the money over $45 (20% of $5 is $1)
So actually, you’re only paying $4.75. You have $45.25 left over.
So if there’s a 70% tax bracket on, say, 10 million dollars or more, it doesn’t mean that the second you make 10 million (something that almost no one in this country makes to begin with), you start getting taxed at 70% and they take away 7 million. The first $9,999,999 are still taxed in the lower brackets. They just take away 70 cents from the ten millionth dollar.

I’m honestly ready to be at a point in my life where I can tell people to get out of my life. There are so many people who treat me like I am worthless and there’s nothing I can do about it..

Oh my dear lord, yesss. This post is exactly how I feel.
one of the more creepy trends in the age of trumpisem, is the cult-like way the red hat wearers attempt to persuade me to ‘their side’. Example: I make a post or repost something on FB and if I don’t comment on their comment - if I don’t engage in their argument, because I’m not an idiot and I know there’s no point! - here come the private messages. If I’m unlucky enough to be close friends with them and they have my phone number, I’ll get a text or phone call. Why? Why do you so badly want me on ‘your side’? It’s not going to happen. It wasn’t going to happen after he grabbed ‘em by the pussies and it’s certainly not going to now that he’s allowed close to a million people go without pay because he wants a to build a several-thousand-mile monument to himself and turn our country into some kind of exclusive whites-only club.
I’m sick of the lies, I’m sick of the corruption and I’m sick of explaining myself to people who make excuses for this bullshit. Evil is evil. There is no excuse.

I don’t know if I’m just being thick but can someone from America explain to me what the hell is going on?
Those kids shouting “build the wall” at Native American’s just doesn’t make any sense to me. Like, they do realise the hypocrisy of what they are shouting, right?
I assume they are shouting “build the wall” as a phrase to encapsulate the idea of illegal immigrants being stopped coming into the county… so… they are shouting that to Native Americans????
The illegal immigrants are shouting at the Native American about illegal immigration??? They know what their ancestors did right? Or is American history only taught properly outside of America?
If it isn’t ignorant hypocrisy then it is just proof that “build the wall” has nothing to do with wanting boarder security and is, in fact, just a racist chant.
This is not a very coherent ramble because I really cannot wrap my head around this…

Assuming he doesn't get reelected, half of the Trump presidency is over. Your thoughts?
First of all, we cannot assume that we won’t be re-elected. We have to fight to elect a different President. We assumed that Donald Trump would lose in 2016, and look where that got us. No assumptions. Vote and organize others to vote. That’s what is most important.
As for my thoughts on the first two years of the Trump Administration, I genuinely believe that he is the worst President in American history. I believe that he is the most destructive force in American history. I believe that he is a dangerous and destabilizing force to the world as a whole. I am humiliated to be an American every time I see or hear him speak, and I often can’t tell whether I’m more angry or more sad when there is absolutely zero accountability when he does something or says something that no other President or major political figure would have previously gotten away with doing or saying. The President has accomplished nothing outside of appointing two radically partisan justices to the United States Supreme Court and nominating dozens of similar judges to the federal judiciary. He is the most blatant, despicable liar I think I have ever seen in any aspect of American life, and it usually doesn’t matter because he’s built a legitimate cult of personality that millions of Americans have completely bought into, devotedly support, and consistently defend – no matter what. He openly declares his respect for tyrannical leaders around the world and brazenly expresses his wishes for many of their authoritarian powers. Nothing about him or his Presidency is normal. Much of it is clearly dangerous to our system of government and threatens the rule of law. He is – according to the accounts of almost everyone who has worked with him closely – extraordinarily ignorant and careless about his job and the effect that his actions and words have on the everyday lives of each and every American, and people around the world. I could continue, but I’ll never be able to fully express all of the reasons why he is such a hazard to our country and our world. Donald Trump is an American embarrassment, and because he is never held accountable for what he says, what he does, and the things that are damaged by what he doesn’t do, he continues to be a menace and an existential threat to our democratic republic.

This is getting ridiculous..
The government has been shutdown for a month now and the worst thing is that my husband applied for a job with the tsa and he hasn’t worked in months because we had to move for college we are almost out of money and can’t move forward because of this shutdown. He has literally applied to every job available in our area and hasn’t heard back(except about this job) but he went completely through the interview process for this job and then the shutdown started so now we are just waiting... he is constantly applying and we continue to wait..
