“That’s the spirit little one.” He said kindly as they arrived at the training room. He then used the force to pull a bo staff to his hands. “Now, I just want you to try to hit me, don’t worry if you do manage to get me, I can take a beating.”
Murrla sat in the gardens meditating, doing her best to ignore the anxiety of still not being picked as anyone's Padawan. It was hard, however, as the other young teens within the order boast more and more as the days go by about their own mentors. She was always the last to reach a milestone within her class, and first to fail when it truly mattered
“Excuse me, are you Murrla?” Ronis asked walking up to the young Wookiee. “My name’s Ronis Vanda, the council assigned me to be your master.”

“That or, he wants us to use our heads.” He chuckled.
“Hey, my first day I accidentally set my master’s robe on fire in front of the chancellor.” He admitted sheepishly. “Trust me, a lot of padawans had terrible first days. This is just a test to see where you’re at.”

“Because if all you do is try, then you’ll never put any effort into anything.” He pointed out. “It’ll mean that you won’t do anything. But if you just do, then yeah, you might fail, but what matters is that you gave it your best.”
“Come on, we’ll use wooden swords today then.” He added guiding her to the training room. “That way neither of us accidentally burns the other.”

“Do or do not, there is no try.” He quoted Master Yoda as he handed her a hair tie. “He’s been using that line forever.”
“Come on, I think for your first lesson I should see where you’re at with your lightsaber.”

“We will if the council doesn’t give us another assignment.” He said with a chuckle. “The order’s been busy lately and ever since the emergences began in the Outer Rim it’s been all hands on deck.” He explained.
Lora looks up from finishing helping a Padewan with fixing her braid.
Earlier that morning one of the girls in her room had done Lors’s hair into an updo. Helping keep it out of her face.
Which was good. She had to meet someone today. A master. Her new one after what had happened with Cole. Which she still didn’t regret. Even if it did seem that the council was about to toss her into the street.
She knew enough that she could get by right? No. Probably not. Besides she had a sense this was where she needed to be. So she’d pretend to be humbled by being passed along to another old grouchy man. And try and keep her head down till she made knight. She was smart. She could do it.
“Lora- I’d like you to meet master Ronis Vanda.”
She arches a brow. Her face betraying her again. He was young. Hopefully that wouldn’t prove to be a problem. The younger ones always had the most ego.
“Pleased to meet you master.” Lora replies with a bow.
“Well I’ll let the two of you get acquainted.” The woman replies and as she heads out of the room she mouths. Good luck. To Ronis.
“I’m sure you’ve heard stories about me. Most of them are gross exaggerations.” She says with a pretty smile.
@refracting-light
Ronis chuckled. “Perhaps, but there is always a glimmer of truth in those stories.” He said, sounding wiser than others his age. “Want some tea? I brewed some before you came in.” He offered.

“We all learn at different paces.” He said gently as he sat down next to her. “Every Jedi’s path leads to the same destination in the Force, so my first bit of advice is to stop comparing yourself to others.” He added giving her a friendly nudge.

Ronis groaned. “I miss the days before I knew what was in those books.” He muttered.
“I’ve got a few smuggler friends that frequent the Fourth Rail, not a bad idea to swing by.” He added thoughtfully.
