Digital art tips from my experience!

under your final sketch, before you do the lineart, just quickly scribble down your colours underneath, so you can see if you want to add anything and get a preview of how it looks. it makes it easier for me to visualize the final as someone who has Aphantasia and cannot visualize to save my life

Learn to use blending mode/layers! if there was one thing I wish id learned earlier its blending modes (it might be called something different depending on your software) Overlay and multiply have saved my life and made rendering easier!

if you have really struggle on getting good drawing references and such, especially for your characters facial features, use picrew to make your character and use it as a reference!

SET UP AN AUTOSAVE IF YOU CAN OR SET A TIMER THAT PERIODICALLY REMINDS YOU TO SAVE! There's an app called chimer that can give you reminders every so often but please, for the love of art, figure out a way to make sure you save OFTEN! art programs can glitch, tech can crash, you can accidentally close it, so many things. SAVE

Its a pallete of 5 colours:

basic shadows, use on a multiply layer

higlight, put it where the light is. softlight layer

middle, softlight layer

shadows, softlight layer

blush, 50% opacity, multiply layer

1+5 on its own

2,3, and 4 guide for people wondering where to put light, medium and shadow!

.i usuallly put Purple first, then pink, then the other colours above

mess with opacity and blending and VOILA!

Im sick of seeing whitewashed characters or people saying "i dont know how to shade darker skin!"

ITS NOT THAT HARD! YOU CAN EVEN SHADE THEM THE SAME!
