MC0335: Module 6
This week provided us with many interesting and insightful pieces of media that we were able to indulge in. I was able to learn about so many different subcultures of Twitter that I was previously unaware. Typically, I was only able to recognize “Black Twitter” which is a bright and inclusive community but it’s great to know that there’s many other communities just like it. I plan on exploring more of these communities because they deserve more recognition for their contributions towards mainstream media and culture. Race and politics are very sensitive topics to discuss but Twitter is a great platform for these discussions to take place, everyone is given a voice on their platform and they all have a certain subculture they can find comfort in. Overall, this week’s module was very informative because it touched on important topics and introduced me to Tumblr which I’ve never used.

CNN should receive credit for highlighting the influence of “Black Twitter” well before it was popularized.
