How to Choose the Right HDD Drill Rig for Installing a Subsea Pipeline?
Subsea pipeline installation is a multi-billion dollar industry. It consists of installing hundreds to thousands of kilometers of submerged pipelines from the shoreline to offshore oil rigs and platforms, as well as onshore processing facilities and natural gas compressor stations.
These pipelines are then buried into trenches that can be several meters deep and several hundred meters wide. The only way to install these pipelines is via horizontal directional drilling (HDD).
This process needs machinery like horizontal directional drilling rig, which is an essential part of the industry. However, not all HDD drill rigs can meet up with the demands of this industry, thus it’s imperative to choose the right one.
What Are The Factors To Consider When Choosing The Right Hdd Rig?
When choosing a HDD drill rig there are three main factors that should be considered such as the water depth, ground conditions and access to the site. The drill rig's power source is also an important factor in making a decision. The majority of HDD rigs work off diesel engines which put out between 1,000 to 4,500 horsepower .
Another important factor for choosing a HDD drill rig is the number of pipeline installation passes. This is the amount of attempts it takes to get the drilling string into the required depth. A pass involves threading a certain amount of casing onto the drilling string and lowering it to set depth on each attempt before pulling back up and rethreading more casing .
The selection of HDD drill rig is also dependent on the amount of casing that needs to be installed. Casing is the steel piping that lines the outer edge of the trench and can range from 5 to 30 feet in diameter, each section weighing up to 9 tons.
There are many different types of HDD drill rigs on the market today. The two main types being land- or marine-based .
Land-based HDD drill rigs are most typically used in soil, clay and silt conditions where water depths are less than 100 feet. They have multiple sets of pipe storage racks built in so that the pipe can be easily connected and disconnected from the drilling string .
The majority of land-based HDD drill rigs have the capacity to dredge over 100,000 yards a day, which is a great advantage when considering that open cut trenching can take several weeks to complete. There are also different types of water pumps available for land-based HDD drill rigs depending on the water depth and soil conditions .
Marine-based HDD drill rigs are used for projects in nearwater environments as well as areas with very loose soils like sands or gravels, water depths between 1,000 to 5,000 feet and remote locations where transportation is limited.
There are two types of marine-based HDD drill rigs: self-propelled vessels and jack-up barges. A self-propelled vessel is permanently attached to its drilling unit, while a jack-up barge can be moved from one project to the next .
Marine HDD drill rig operators will also use what is called a wiggle stick when digging down into the seabed. The wiggle stick has three different positions; forward, neutral and reverse. When the drill rig is in forward mode it pushes the pipe into the seabed to get past any obstructions, when in neutral position the weight of the load will push it down into place, and in reverse position it pulls back on the pipe to remove any obstructions .
What Contractors Should Know?
Work with a contractor who is well-versed with the industry standards for HDD projects, or hire a firm that specializes in installation of subsea pipelines. Since the entire pipeline installation process has multi-billion dollar implications, choosing the HDD drill rig is not something that can be done lightly.
Subsequently, when choosing an HDD drill rig, contractors need to take into account various considerations that pertain to the industry they work in. The design of the machinery is a good indicator of what applications they will be used for. Making use of a faulty machine can not only waste time and money but may also damage the pipeline being laid out.
The best way to know if a machine is right for the job is to gather as much information as possible as there are various factors that will make one type of HDD drill rig better suited for a specific project than another.
Complexity, environmental conditions and price all need to be considered before making a final choice.
Even though the HDD industry has its own list of requirements, this should not prevent contractors from seeking out other machines that might be suitable for their project and needs. For example, rotary steerable systems are great for rocky terrain and uneven surfaces. This is why many firms consider it as one of the best HDD drill rigs.
All things considered, the best machines are the ones that can accomplish a job with minimum waste of both time and money, so choosing the HDD drill rig requires prudence and caution to make sure all specifications are met.

In addition, social media makes it very easy for brand to direct their visitors to their website so they can learn more about the brand as well as the product or service they are offering. Another great option would be to use explainer videos or animation videos to introduce a new product, present a new service, etc.

This might not be common knowledge but most website visitors only need less than 5 seconds to decide whether they want to get off the page or stay.
During said time window, videos can be used to effectively target vision and audio sensory stimuli. This is done to encourage the visitors to keep browsing and stay far longer than they originally intend to.
This technique will not only improve the brand’s SEO efforts, it can also give it a massive competitive advantage.

5 Ways to Persuade an Audience via Storytelling
One major element persuasive copywriters use when trying to capture their audience is storytelling. You tell a tale about your product or service, and you aim to make your reader believe all the things that you present so by the time you serve your call-to-action, your reader would not hesitate to click it and move towards making a purchase.
However, not all stories are captivating. In fact, according to persuasive copywriters, many stories out there are boring. Hence, when writing your sales copy, it is important that you incorporate a tale that not only gets your readers hooked, but makes them crave for more.
This is because once you see them yearning for something from you, that’s the time that they become your followers. You can then easily bring them down to your sales funnel and convert them into customers.
So how do you persuade your readers through storytelling? You can start with the following points:
Use a relatable plot
What is your audience like? What situations are they usually in? What makes them happy, sad, afraid, or furious? What gets them excited or anxious? You need to know the scenarios that make them feel these emotions and start your story from there.
A plot that is relatable to your target audience is an essential starting point for your story, mainly because as humans, they find it more comforting to be in an environment that’s familiar to them.
You can start with a situation that exudes anxiety, or of reaching an aspiration, as these compel your readers to feel like they are characters in your narrative.
Utilise imagery and graphic descriptions
Not all your readers are imaginative. Most of them even rely on visual aids to understand what you are talking about. This is why it is important that you are graphic with your narrative, as you need to provide a mental picture for your audience to see.
Using imagery in your story also brings about intrigue and mystery. While your readers rely on your word for guidance in forming mental pictures, these are only speculations that are still waiting to be proven.
How will they know that the result or effect brought about by the story is real? They will only know the answer by testing out your product, and that takes place once they make a purchase.
Include your audience in your story.
Another important aspect of storytelling when marketing a product or service is including your readers in the story. Give them a character. Make them feel like they have a crucial role in your narrative, especially when it comes to experiencing the effects of the item you are selling.
Making them part of your cast helps a lot in selling your product or service, mainly because your readers would feel like your brand values their presence as customers.
They would feel like your brand heard their woes and that your latest product addresses their issues. This feeling of vindication thus serves as a big factor in their decision to buy from you.
Make them see their aspirations
When you are using a story to market your business, you need not only sell the pain and fear, but also the aspiration that your item offers. Besides, people of all ages love happy endings, and they want to experience how it is like to “live happily ever after.”
Your story should give them a glimmer of hope, as it is what your product or service is about: giving them a better chance at life.
End with a cliff-hanger
You don’t end your story with “happily ever after” per se. Rather, you need to close with a cliff-hanger. This is because the real “happy ending” happens when your reader responds to your call-to-action, and to get that, they first have to pay.
End your story with a call-to-action that makes your audience realise that their desired outcomes are achievable, and it will only start to materialise once they hit the “click here” button.

How to Add More Value to Your Corporate Video?
Everyday there are tons of videos being uploaded online. If your target audience doesn’t find your video valuable, then they will most likely look for a better alternative. What’s worse is that your video will get lost in the noise of the internet.
To succeed in video marketing, you need to produce a video with a valuable content. It should have a relevant and helpful information, production quality, and unique presentation that’s worth every minute of your viewers. The more time you add in your video, the more challenging it will be to convince your viewers to sit through it.
So how do you win in this competitive industry? How can you produce a remarkable content? How will you make sure that your audience will watch your video? Here are some helpful tips to help you get started:
Invest in your video
Invest not just in budget but in time and effort as well. Although there are many tools and various materials available that can make your task a lot easier, this should not be a reason for you to take the easy route. Do your research and know what will catch the attention of your target audience. Survey them if necessary to ensure that your viewers will see your content as interesting.
Plan everything out
Good planning gets you a step closer to the end result that you wish to see. Before everything else, research your audience and industry, create a storyboard, and write an effective script. This way, it will be a lot easier to check whether you are on the right direction as you move from one step to another in your video production.
Don’t do it on your own
Have a team of staff to help you out with this project. Survey your employees or colleagues and find people who are interested or have the passion in video production or video editing. People who are into these kinds of projects will have fun helping out and will not even see it as an additional task.
Have high standards
Time and budget constraints are no excuse to present your audience with a second rate content. Always have a high standard when choosing your materials and actors. Remember that these actors will be the face of your brand so they have to do justice to their role.
Choose an appropriate location
The audience will know if your video was shot in a makeshift studio. They pay close attention to detail to see if video producers are worth their time and money. Therefore, it will be best to shoot the location in a place that is appropriate to your script.
If your staff members are already swamped with tasks or do not have the skills to finish the task, there are always corporate video production companies who will be willing to help you.
One of the best companies in Singapore you can trust is Reelmedia Ptd Lte. We have years of experience in producing quality videos that can help you reach your digital marketing goals.
