I think it's so telling how much Bo actually has mommy issues in the script so badly. He adores Trudy and it seems like he isn't lying like we speculate he was in the movie that he really is doing this for her in his sick mind. Fulfilling her 'dream' of a wax town. Trying to make her proud of him finally.

Bo views her as beautiful, kind, sweet, talented. Him speaking fondly of her is some of the only true loving emotion he shows in the script or movie. And honestly? It's fucking SAD that in his mind she 'spoiled him rotten'. Which maybe she did provide for him physically but the boy was mentally traumatized and abused and as a 30 something year old man thinks his mother spoiled him...

Meanwhile, Carly sees what she is. Says she's an ugly woman with a cigarette always in her mouth and who was responsible for Bo's scars on his wrists, treating him like he was a problem and in Carly's words 'hated him.'

And this!! Bo is genuinely upset when Carly throws it into his face that his Mother wasn't a good Mom. She didn't love him like his twin, he was the least favorite child, yet he's still doing all this in order to prove that's not true in his mind. That she did love him in his mind and he is visibly upset when someone shoves reality into his face.
