I just recently got into bikes. My first one was a 1979 Honda CD 200 delivery bike. It was cute, and kak slow. I convinced my dad that I needed something faster.
Introducing my first review:
My 1980-something Suzuki GS850.
Imagine being shitfaced on sake while piloting a Japanese Zero fighter plane into the side of an American battle ship. Hot, sweaty and noisy. The smell of petrol and exhaust gasses making you want to puke up those shitty army ration noodles you had for lunch. That is my bike. A scary, loud and smelly machine. And that is exactly why I love it. My old Honda was a cool little bike, but it didn’t ask too much of me. It started first time, its exhaust emitting a sowing machine-like hum.
My Suzuki’s exhaust has fallen off, making it sound like a 60’s era Le Mans racer (choose your weapon), it sprays me with petrol every time I try to adjust the extremely tight petcock. It backfires louder than an AK-47 and it scares the shit out of me. It’s a proper dude machine.
It’s got a rock hard seat that crushes my bum, it waits until you think you’ve run out of revs then snaps your head off (my rev counter broke the other day).
It’s a Zero fighter on two wheels.
Specs:
Engine:Four stroke, transverse four cylinders, DOHC, 2 valve per cylinder.
Capacity:843cc
Cooling System: Air cooled
Compression Ratio: 8.8:1
Induction: 4x mm Mikuni carbs
Max Power: 77.6 hp / 57.1 kW @ 9.000 rpm
Max Torque: 65 Nm / 6.6 kgf-m @ 7.500 rpm
Transmission: 5 Speed
Wet Weight: 253 kg
Fuel Capacity: 22 Litres
Top Speed (when new):119 mph / 191 km/h
My rating: It’s kak. (but I love it)
