Hello, I have my bottom retainers now and they fit like a dream. Shockingly I have no lisp, which is what I was expecting like I did with the top retainer. I have no bite in the picture with my retainer, but it doesn't matter too much because I can't eat with them in. I'm starting my Kor whitening treatment from tomorrow which is a whitening deep bleaching system for the teeth. You can't see from my photos, but my teeth are quite discoloured, so I'll probably be updating as I start seeing the changes. Have a great day Xx

Hellooooo So I've had my retainers in now for a week, they are quite comfortable and the lisp I had is slowly disappearing, although there are certain words I can't pronounce properly lol. They were irritating the right hand side of my gums at the back, so I had it filed down from my orthodontist and now, I don't even remember I have them in. I've had my eighth tightening at the bottom as my teeth need to move further back so I have an overbite. They seem to moving rather slow, so they won't be coming off anytime soon, but I don't mind too much. They do feel super tight though and I've not had this much pain for quite a while so I'd forgotten what it felt like. I'm loving the freedom of no brace at the top :-D

Hello again! Just had my braces readjusted: sixth - top and seventh - bottom. My top 3 middle brackets needed to be taken off today and have been moved down. This was because my bite has gone between my top and bottom teeth, which is why the wire looks a bit jagged and I have coloured dots to show that I have a new wire. It was quite painful to get them taken off and the new wire is quite thick, so the pressure is quite intense at the moment, but I know it'll settle down soon. The bottom feel absolutely fine, still can't see much movement on the side but it's early days as I only just had the brackets put back on last month. My middle gap at the bottom have remained the same, but I'm happy as it looks lovely :-)

Howdy people. Feeling really pleased with my teeth today. My bottom gap is closing really quickly since my last adjustment. Today I had my tightening once again; sixth (bottom), fifth (top). I think that I've got so used to the change that it doesn't really bother me as much anymore and the sensitivity has really calmed down. My lovely orthodontist put two brackets back in the bottom right side of my teeth as they were missing due to my own clumsiness and also adjusted my top brackets so that my teeth will start coming and I will get a proper bite. All in all very good result and I couldn't be happier. Have a great day :-)

I have braces and av OCD when it comes to brushing them especially after eating. Do you brush yours excessively or just when needed?
I used to brush it after every little thing I ate or drank, especially because it’s so easy to colour. But now I just eat with mainly my back teeth and tend to avoid foods such as curries, certain spices, sauces. A few posts ago I did talk about my bands going yellow due to orange juice and that I wouldn’t drink it but now I have been using a straw. But I only brush it morning and night and/or if food gets stuck in it.

Note
how much did you pay for your braces?
If I remember correctly, it is costing me around £2,800 - £3,000 for the bottom and the top together. It's going to be so worth it and the payment plan is really affordable. I did pay a bit more due to having quite a few teeth done in the process to make it healthy for the brace to be fitted on

Ouch
My brace seems to hate me today for some reason. The right hand side of my brace is cutting, digging and scratching my gums so it's very painful. It's probably my fault, maybe I dodged the wire through eating something. The pressure seems to have come back so soft foods and water have been my best friend for the next couple of days.

Day 1
I won't be updating everyday but just when I feel I have to, getting it tightened, change etc.
My non existent pain was short lived. There is actually so much pressure on my teeth today, it almost feels as if someone is pressing down on it. The dental wax has been my saviour today and helped me through these difficult times lol. I've had to mainly put in on where my labret (side of the lip) piercing is and where they end on my cheeks because of the friction and constant rubbing is cutting it. I've also brushed my teeth four times today due to everything possible getting stuck in it but I've managed to have pasta and soup, which have been the most manageable things to eat. No painkillers as of yet, so, so far so good

So I finally have my top brace in! :-D Feels really weird at the moment as did my bottom ones when I first had them put in place. There's no pressure as of yet but my mouth isn't adjusting to these as quick, maybe it's because these stick out so much more than my bottom teeth. The scratching has already started, but of course good ol' dental wax will have that sorted in no time. BTW the dots on the brace are just so the orthodontist knows where to fix the brace and easily washes off, so no it's not food lol.
I had the bottom brace wire changed today and they're a lot thicker than the originals. The taking out the wire didn't feel to bad, but MY GOD, did it hurt getting the new wire put in, I thought my teeth were going to break out (but of course I'm in safe hands with Dr. Shukla). I currently have a tingle-like sensation going in my gums which feels surprisingly pleasant and a couple of people have noticed some movement in the bottom teeth although I'm still gappy :-D
Oooh and to add to that I received my Cordless Waterpik waterflosser W-450 today and I only ordered it on Saturday, which is amazing. Will update everyone as to how I get on with it.

Quick update
I've just had my last appointment for my upper teeth and I am happy to announce that my top brace will be in place on TUESDAY! :-D
The scratching on the right hand side has settled down a bit and with the use of the dental wax, it's not bothering me as much.
Also there have been no stains on the wires at all, but I have been avoiding a lot of foods/sauces with strong colours such as curries, tomatoes, brown sauce and fizzy drink which never appealed to me anyway. I did have a chocolate yesterday and it got all stuck in my brace so it's not even worth the hassle.
My OCD with brushing after every drink/meal has calmed down a lot, although I now realise how important it is to floss especially with the brace on, after all you're paying for it, so look after them. I've purchased the Waterpik just because it will make life so much easier for when I have the top braces in place and is a top recommended product for those who have orthodontic procedures in place.

Good news & 1 week on
My teeth jobs are almost complete (only 2 more to go), no more bad teeth, no more root canals, no more drills all thanks to my dentist Dr. Battu.
I'm actually flossing everyday (well trying with difficulty) which is something I never used to do, (used to do it once a week if that - shameful!) and trying to take good care of my teeth. I'm considering getting a Waterpik which is a waterflosser that helps you clean out areas where the floss is out of reach.
Not a lot of people have realised that I have a brace in and I've managed not to stain them but it's such hard work cutting out so many things you're used to.
My brace seems to have settled in nicely and I barely notice that it's there except for the rubbing of the inside of my cheeks and food getting stuck in there. If it's like this now then I'm preparing myself for the top brace as it's going all around my top teeth, I have my dental wax and travel kit at the ready.

So my journey has come to an end, I'm quite sad, but yet so happy! My teeth look amazing now and I couldn't be more happier with the result. It didn't hurt too much getting it taken off and I have two sets of retainers at the back of the bottom teeth due to my tongue having a mind of it's own. I get my clear retainers on Monday, so I will wear them religiously. My gums are quite inflamed still from the pressure of wearing the brace, but it will soon settle down and blend in nicely. I still wear my top retainers to keep my teeth in position, but have started taking them out a bit more, just to have a break, (not that they bother me). Thank you for following me and I will continue to keep you updated every so often. Any questions please feel free to ask. Charlene Xx

Helloooo! I had my ninth tightening a week ago and I've had to get a tighter band due to my teeth moving forward again and the middle gap was starting to reopen; I could feel the strain straight away. I have my retainers in, which is why I don't have a bite in this picture. I've been using retainer brite which cleans the whole retainer which keeps it 100% clean and fresh. There are some days where I just use baking soda with a bit of water to make it into a natural paste to clean it - all does the same job anyway, both good results. Not to long to go until the bottom brace gets removed and I get a lovely overbite *fingers crossed* Xx

Woooohooo!!! So I finally have my top brace off!!! My teeth look so amazing and I'm super happy with the result, my teeth feel a bit naked though. Getting it taken off wasn't so bad, but popping off the brackets did hurt a bit, nothing to unbearable though. I now have a fixed retainer at the back of my teeth so my teeth do not go back to how it was and I am also getting a clear retainer tomorrow. I think my bottom ones will be taken off next month... Here's hoping :-D

Helloooo everyone! So I had my bottom brace readjusted on Wednesday and the top ones haven't been tampered with at all. My orthodontist gave me the news I've been waiting for.... MY TOP BRACE IS COMING OFF NEXT WEDNESDAY WOOOHOOOOOOO! Finally get my brace off and retainers on, although I am slightly going to miss them... My bottom ones are taking a bit longer, but it's to be expected and I don't mind it too much... Roll on next week :-D

Hi, can I ask how much this will cost and what the expected date of completion is? I have a similar issue as you and I was quoted £2500 and was told it would take 11 months. Thanks
Hey there,
The brace cost is around £2800 for the top and bottom together. I think it really does depend on your teeth, but mine are straight and it has only been 5 months so hopefully yours shouldn't take too long.
I didn't expect mine to move so quick, but you can see the changes everyday.
I would say to shop around first and get different opinions from orthodontists.
Hope this helps and good luck to you :-D
