Goosebumps rose up Daryl's spine as your hands traveled over his bare skin. You gently dabbed at the large swath of abrasion crossing most of his back and again dunked the cloth back into the bowl of warm water. Your palm was flush against his shoulder, centered over one of his scars and the touch was warm and comforting. He was grateful for the tender care you always gave him and the steadiness of you in general. When you were satisfied that he was cleaned up, you set the cloth aside and moved around in front of him, your eyes traveling over his bare chest and up to his handsome face.

You moved in toward him and his arms immediately looped around you and tugged you in more closely. He buried his face against your neck briefly and breathed in your smell, leaving a kiss just below your jaw. You brushed his hair back from his face. "It doesn't always have to be you, you know?" you said. He gave you a questioning look. "Your shoulders aren't the only ones that can bear the weight of the world."

He was thoughtful for a moment before he shrugged. "Yeah, but... mine are bigger than yers," he said, one corner of his mouth twitching up in a quick smile.

You sighed and gave him a semi-amused look. "I just worry about you," you said.

He ducked his head. "Yeah, I know... but I'll always come back to ya."

Daryl - *places his hands on your hips and turns them* “Make sure your feet are planted, but I mean, if ya ever need-“

*you shoot, hitting the target right in the center*

Daryl - *scoffs* “You’ve shot before, haven’t ya?”

Y/n - *smiling as you hand him his bow back* “I just wanted you to put your hands on me.”

Daryl - *takes his bow and pulls you in by the waist* “Why didn’t ya jus’say so, hmm?”
