This probably won’t reach the preferred audience and if it does it ain’t a big one but
✨I love Joe Hill so much✨
Like he’s just a white dude with pretty eyes and curly hair but I love him so much for literally no reason
I also love Jamie Reagan… y’know

Here's to the people who can't get the words on the page. The people who are too tired after all life throws at them to write. The people who are blocked. The people who are burnt out. The people who can't write because of physical or mental illnesses. The people who don't know why they can't write. And the people struggling with all those other things that get in the way of writing and make it seem or be impossible.
You're still a writer, you're still an artist. And you matter. This world is better since you're in it. Thank you for wanting to write, even if you can't right now. I hope you and your words find each other soon.

comfort you.
pairing: julie molina x luke patterson
an: so, I actually wrote this request on Saturday, but then I accidentally deleted it before I posted it, so here I am writing it again lmao I hope that it is still as good as I felt the first version of this was. Also, I don’t normally write things for menstrual comfort or anything like that, but I never previously mentioned that, so I went along with this request anyways! I hope you enjoy!
request: Julie isn’t at school and Luke is worried and fakes sick to the nurse to leave and he finds her at home in paid due to her monthly visitor.
word count: 1.2k+
It wasn’t like Julie to miss school. Julie never missed school and Luke had no idea why, today of all days, she was missing from her classes. There were a lot of consistencies in life that Luke relied on, and Julie’s practically perfect attendance record was one of them. This wasn’t normal for her. No, something was wrong. Luke could feel it.
Surely, if something terrible had happened, someone would contact him, he tried to reason with himself. Everyone knew how much Julie meant to him. Then again, what if something so bad had happened that everyone was too overwhelmed to reach out and tell him. Julie wasn’t responding to his texts, so, of course, his mind went to the worst-case scenario. He needed answers, fast, and there was only one way to get them.
When he wanted to be, Luke could be an amazing actor. While Julie had a stellar attendance reputation, Luke had faked sick more times than he could count. Most of the time, he was convincing enough that no one asked questions. Today was no different. When the school nurse asked if he wanted her to call his parents, he insisted that he had already contacted them, so she didn’t have to worry. On top of his acting skills, Luke could also be charming enough to almost always get his way.
By the time Luke pushed through the front doors of the school, he was feeling more anxious than ever. He was sure the nerves had assisted in making his fake ailment believable, and he couldn’t help but think that there was at least one small victory in this worrisome situation. His hands were clammy, and he was sure he was flushed as he grabbed his bike from the bike rack and quickly jumped on.
The wheels of Luke’s bike spun rapidly as he pedaled harder and faster than ever had ever done before. The ride to Julie’s house was pure torture as his thoughts got the better of him, but he ended up making the trip in record time. When he rolled into Julie’s driveway, he hastily jumped off his bike as he dropped it into the grass and made a beeline up the stairs to the front door of the house. The door wasn’t locked, so Luke knew that someone had to be home, however after one quick look downstairs, Luke didn’t find anyone. He felt his heart in his throat as he bounded up the stairs towards Julie’s room, and his breath caught in his throat when he saw her bedroom door was propped open.
A small sigh of relief slipped through his lips when he stepped into the room and saw Julie’s curls splayed out across her pillow, as her back was towards the door he had just walked through.
“Julie?” he called hesitantly, and a small groan filled the air as Julie slowly rolled over to face him.
“Luke? What are you doing here?” Her voice was hoarse but with one quick one-over, Luke couldn’t tell what was wrong. She looked okay, maybe a little tired, but there didn’t appear to be any outward physical damage.
“You weren’t at school,” he replied lamely as he moved around the bed to sit next to her. “I got worried.”
A small smile formed on Julie’s lips as she looked up at the boy perched next to her.
“Please tell me you didn’t sneak out of school to come here,” she sighed, though the smile never left her face.
“Of course not. I faked sick.” Julie immediately rolled her eyes before grimacing as something seemed to be internally causing her pain. Luke’s heart rate spiked in concern.
“Jules? Are you alright?” he asked nervously, and Julie slowly nodded as her eyes fluttered open once more.
“Yeah, I’m good. Well, not really good, but it’s nothing serious.” Her response did nothing to quell his concerns and instead they led to more questions.
“What do you mean? What’s going on?” His voice was becoming more frantic though he was trying to remain calm. His mood must have been obvious to Julie because she reached out for his hands and laced her fingers with his.
“It’s nothing I promise. It’s just… it’s just cramps.”
“Cramps? Like leg cramps?” Luke asked in confusion, and Julie shook her head. She gave him a pointed look soon after when it was clear that he still wasn’t getting it, and it took a few more seconds before realization dawned on him. “Oh. Oh, those cramps.” Julie couldn’t help but smile again as she squeezed Luke’s hands comfortingly. “Do you need anything? Water? A heating pad? Maybe a snack?” now that he knew what was going on, Luke immediately jumped into comfort mode. He wanted to make sure that Julie was as comfortable as possible.
Julie told him that a glass of water sounded perfect, and so he quickly hopped into action and started towards the stairs to make his way to the kitchen. After filling up a glass of water, Luke stopped at the bathroom down the hall from Julie’s room to grab some ibuprofen in case she needed it. He assumed that she had probably already taken some earlier, but he had no idea when, and he figured it would never hurt to bring her more for when she needed it again.
When he reentered her bedroom, he was happy to see that she had managed to sit up, and he could see the top of a heating pad already placed against her lower stomach. A soft smile filled her features as he handed her the glass of water, and he set two of the little white pills on the table next to her bed.
“In case you needed them,” he offered, and Julie’s smile grew as she took a sip from the glass he had just handed her.
“Thank you, Luke. For all of this. It was highly unnecessary, and I can’t believe you left school for this but… I appreciate it.” Luke felt his heart jump in his chest at her gratitude, and he simply nodded as if him being here was the most obvious place for him to be.
“I’m just glad that nothing bad had happened to you.”
A gentle moment passed between the two as Julie took another drink of her water before setting it down next to the ibuprofen Luke had brought with him. She maneuvered herself so that she was laying down once more, and her brown eyes met Luke’s as she patted the bed next to her.
“Since you’re already here, did you maybe want to lay down with me for a bit?” Luke grinned as he nodded quickly.
“How could I say no?”
Quickly, he moved around so that he was lying next to her, his arms draping across her waist as he rested his head on the pillow beside her. The warmth from the heating pad was comforting in its own way, and it wasn’t long before he could feel his eyelids start to droop. Just before they did, he felt Julie’s breathing even out, and he knew that she had also already fallen back to sleep.
He had worried for nothing, but as Luke drifted off to sleep, he couldn’t help but appreciate how he enjoyed this so much more than sitting in history class. Sometimes his concern payed off in the best ways.

Icy
Summary: Band, Restless Road, Zach hurts his foot, and has to spend the holidays with Kane and his family
”I can’t believe you-” “It was icy!!! What was I supposed to do melt the ice??”
“Not walk on it would have been good enough!”
“Zach you’re an idiot..”
“But I’m y’alls idiot.” He grins fondly and Kane shakes his head.
“What?”
“Now we have to drag your ass all the way to our place because you can’t be left alone with that boot on.”
“I can be..” He asserts and Colton just laughs more.
“Zach; no one should be alone on the holidays, Kane’s just using it as one big fat excuse.”
“Don’t give away my master plan.”
“I’m giving away whatever I want; since it’s Christmas!”
“It’s a week away…”
“And you’re stuck here for another two and a half weeks so the doctor can check you again…”
“It’s a sprained ankle.” Kane glares and nudges the boot.
“At the worst!” Zach quickly amends.
“Listen it doesn’t matter if you stubbed a toe or had to get your leg amputated.”
“It’s closer to a stubbed toe..” Zach tries to interrupt but Kane just keeps talking.
“We’re more than happy to have you spend time with us.”
“I don’t have anything for Christmas.”
“You have a little over a week to do shopping, we can help.” Katy smiles gesturing to the boot on his foot and Zach huffs already annoyed.
Zach had been given a list and left to wander the mall and shopping center that were conjoined. He assumed it was just one mall but Katy had said that there was enough of a divide that they were actually two separate places, Kane had said that they were going to be back in an hour to pick him up and he almost feels like a dorky teenager again, having been dropped off by his parents.
”Did you tell him you weren’t going back?”
“No he thinks we’ve left already probably.”
“Ooo should we wrap you guys up in paper and stick you under the tree?”
“I’m not spending a week stuck under the tree.” Colton glares and Garrett laughs and then nods.
“Well we’ll at least have a bow on our heads or something; when he comes home today.”
“I still think it’s silly…”
“Well you’re the one who wanted us decorate gingerbread houses and made it into a competition…”
“Hey Katy said she’d be happy to judge us.”
“She meant in general, not a gingerbread competition.” Kane laughs and Colton chokes on his hot chocolate.
“I hate this family!” Garrett laughs and everyone joins in.
“So should we go pick up Zach now?”
“How much you wanna bet he didn’t get any farther than the first four stores?”
“I bet he managed one lap around.”
”Zach, jeez man you got far.”
“It took me like an hour, besides there are like four shops I actually want to go into.”
“Oh so you got all your shopping done?”
“Mhm, it didn’t take long, everyone is easy to shop for.”
“You just got everyone a gift card didn’t you?”
“Yep, it makes my life… fuck is that Colton and Garrett, let me go back and-”
“I’ll pick some up for them tomorrow just give me the money.”
”So what time are we being woken up for Christmas?”
“Well I told the kids it had to be six am or later.”
“Huh that’s not too bad…”
“And they argued for five am so..”
“Are you serious?”
“You’re gonna have to find out.”
“I’m injured, you’re really going to force me, an injured person to wake up at five am; what a cruel house this is.” Zach can’t keep a straight face as he laughs.
