Okay I’m really hyped for this one. Back when Russell won the Canadian gp I started to look into his career history since I felt he gets constantly overshadowed by on track drama, and I ended up learning about his relationship with his father, the fact that he struggled financially to stay in karting, and that Wolff set hard goals to fulfill or else the support he was getting as a merc junior driver would be cut. So the fact he’s here today as THE Mercedes driver is a testament to absolute sheer will. He’s got as much dedication to Mercedes as Charles to Ferrari, so when I kept hearing about the George Russell replacement rumors, it really hit me how wrong it all seemed. Especially given the way Wolff likes to portray himself as this father figure to the Mercedes Drivers, giving them chances from young ages and having close connections all that, to go and put out this ‘ah you know Max is right there and everything’ energy was wild.

Anyways I have George represented by the Blue Heron, (commonly mistaken for the crane which I thought was fitting given he’s almost considered a top driver given his stats as rookie champ in almost all his junior categories. But he misses out just barely when compared to the likes of Verstappen), and Mercedes is represented by the Blue Racer snake, constrictors, given that Wolff seems to have that tendency to constrict his drivers with this paternal reverence that conveniently flies out the window when it best suits him. So yeah-

Alex hadn't changed, really, over the last year. Still tall, still tan. Still gut-achingly handsome. Really, the only difference from this time to the last is that last time, Logan had been the one bleeding.

Logan was across the clearing in three quick, clean strides. Alex was sliding to the ground, back against a tree, and he hadn't noticed Logan yet. Or if he had, he hadn't recognized him. The wound across his arm bled lazily, as if it were tired of pumping out blood and taking a bit of a breather. A bad sign, more like than not.

On his knees in front of Alex was a place that Logan had always hoped to find himself. Not like this, exactly, but something.

"Hey," Logan said, soft, like speaking to a spooked horse. Last time, Alex had laughed at him, even as he'd carefully wrapped strips of his own cloak around Logan's bloodied stomach.

Alex groaned. His eyelids were flickering like candlelight, lips parted into a perfect, blood-spattered flower.

"Alex," Logan said, and he put one hand on Alex's knee, where he wasn't so obviously injured. Alex's eyes came into focus and then unfocused again. There wasn't any obvious recognition in his face, but his perfect mouth quirked into such a perfect smile that Logan felt a lot like he'd been the one slashed to hell and back with the business end of a blade.

"Logan," Alex said. "S'that... huh."

Like he was surprised, but like it was a happy surprise.

It felt like theft, when he leaned in to kiss Alex on the lips. It felt like he was taking something that didn't belong to him, only it'd been so long since he'd last seen Alex, and Alex had smiled at him like he'd missed him.

So Logan kissed him. Alex didn't stop smiling. Even as his body sagged and he sighed, passing out with a whisper of a breath, he kept smiling. He did keep breathing, too, which was the important part.

For a moment, Logan let himself look. In sleep—never mind that it was a sleep induced by blood loss—Alex looked so peaceful that it made Logan's heart hurt. So he kissed him again, on the corner of his mouth, and he didn't say anything stupid like I missed you or I love you, actually.

Instead, Logan settled in, closer, and unclasped his cloak to shred for bandages.

i need to talk about alex talking about teto in the latest team torque episode because he starts by, hesitantly, like just the tiniest bit of hesitation, identifying teto as carlos' friend and then it's like a multiple fold thing because what's the source of hesitation? does alex, like most people still struggle to figure out what teto actually does? is it that teto is definitely carlos' something but the most camera appropriate word that alex can find is 'friend'? or is it that alex has been made aware of carlos' strange relationship with the world 'friend' and therefore does not know when it is appropriate to use it? and then alex continues to say that teto "comes to every race" and immediately corrects himself because it seems like he doesn't want to make teto appear jobless and misrepresent him and he looks to carlos to get some kind of confirmation or a 'go ahead' but carlos is just checking his nails out, so alex continues to say that teto "comes to a few races when he isn't racing himself" because teto most definitely has a job outside of just being a sugar buddy. basically, can alex albon tell me his every thought on team 55, please?
