This was the second time someone commented on her hair while she was in the city this time.

And thankfully it wasn’t another talking skeleton.

Looking up at the girl, she smiled, twirling some of the hair around her fingers. What a nice compliment honestly! And from someone so...bright? Wow that was a bright outfit. Not that she could complain it was actually a really nice outfit too. She was totally staring too long without responding wasn’t she.

“Hehehe, thank you!”

“And yeah---I mean, it’s been dyed a bit, highlights and junk, but otherwise it’s mostly natural! What about you? That’s suuuuuch a nice orange colour it looks so nice! And thank you your outfit is super cute yourself! Love it honestly.”

Athena screams internally. It’s not a bad scream, like when she was arrested, or when she saw the doubt on Apollo’s face, but it is still an internal shriek. Why are there so many pretty girls here? Had she just not noticed them back home? Was she too busy with her law degree?

Either way. The girl’s hair is so beautiful and Athena can’t help herself.

“Hi - ummm, I’m sorry if this is weird, but your hair is so pretty?” Her face is bright, excited, and Widget couldn’t possibly glow any greener. “Is it naturally that colour? I mean - it’s beautiful either way! And your clothes are so nice!”

Rambling. Is it really any surprise that Athena loves bright colours? Have you seen her suit? The bright yellow one? That she’s wearing right now? I thought so.

“WELL DUH I’M SHOUTING!! YOU’RE A SKELETON!! SKELETONS DON’T JUST WALK AROUND ON THEIR OWN AND JUNK!”

“N-NORMALLY YOU HAVE LIKE... L-LIKE SKIN AND JUNK!!! DON’T ARGUE WITH ME ON IF YOU’RE TERRIFYING OR NOT I TOTALLY JUST SCREAMED BECAUSE OF YOU! ARE YOU GONNA LIKE, E-EAT ME OR SOMETHING!? “WHAT DO YOU MEAN ‘WHY ARE YOU SCREAMING’?!” He barked back, still extremely rattled at what had just happened. “ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS TELL A HUMAN WITH COOL HAIR THAT SHE HAS COOL HAIR BUT THEN SHE TURNED AROUND AND SUDDENLY STARTED SHOUTING REALLY, REALLY LOUD!! I COULD BE HALFWAY DEAD RIGHT NOW FROM SHOCK!!!”

“AND FURTHERMORE, I AM NOT TERRIFYING! I’M INCREDIBLY CUDDLY AND KIND, PROBABLY THE CUDDLIEST AND KINDEST SKELETON IN THE WORLD, AND THERE’S A LOT OF COMPETITION!!”

She was quite literally shaking in her shoes.

Sure, she’d been put through some legitimately terrifying situations, and sure, she had stared death in the face... multiples of times, but this was something entirely different. An irrational fear maybe, but plenty of people were scared of ghosts and monsters weren’t they? She was just the same. Positively terrified of that junk.

So when the other popped his head clean off she quite nearly let out a shriek.

Instead, she stood there, eyes wide, and too terrified to move. Forcing a shaky smile after a moment, she brought up a shaking hand, doing her best to keep eye contact with the other’s head...which was now in his hands.

“H...haha...h-hah... T-that’s...”

“You...y-you’re t-t-totally not f-faking that... a-are you....?”

Gaster could swear if he saw another human today- No, he wasn’t going to let that thought go anywhere, stopping in his stormy reverie to brush fingers along the crack of his skull. A calming motion, akin to rubbing one’s temples. Head home. It was quieter undergrou-

What? A mask? Oh. Another- His good eye narrowed, staring at the young lady before him. She clearly seemed utterly terrified of his appearance, stammers clear in her voice. A snapping would feel good, and Gaster near opened his mouth to grant her one, but it’s locked shut with a clatter of teeth, as a wry smile grew in its place.

He placed his hands to the sides of his head.

“A mask? Don’t be silly”

POP!

“Unless heads like yours come off so easily too. But then, I would be quite impressed, yes?”

Having been too occupied with squeezing her brother tight, she all but forgot about the third person with them. Actually she had forgotten him. Entirely. It wasn’t necessarily his fault so much as it was that her brother was here, and her mind was one tracked when it came to Light. Grinning and giggling while her brother hugged her back, she only remembered the other’s presence when he spoke up again.

Looking back over at him, she blinked for a moment, as if trying to figure out just who he was again.

“Oh right yeah! Thank you a toooooon Todo...something. Matsuri? Todomatsuri.”

“It probably would have! Like, I can barely use the fields here, it would take foreveeeerrr once they maxed out and junk since I left my phone back at the apartment! Ohhhh Light, Light! Do you think we can live in that house again? It was soooo nice and big and I know Cupcake liked it a whoooole lot better than this apartment. Is like, anyone even still here that lived there? Like Sigma and his boyfriend or whatever? It feels  like aaaaages since I was here!”

｢💖｣— Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to claim that being in the position of the third wheel was something he had never experienced in his life before. Regardless, he found that the feeling of being superfluous and entirely unnecessary wasn’t anything he got used to in a nearby future. He didn’t speak a word, but a single glance at the sextuplet was enough to tell how awkward he must have felt in that situation.  Not that anyone of them bothered to pay enough attention to him to pick up on that feeling, not Clover, and especially not Light. 

Whatever, it wasn’t like this particular outcome was something he hadn’t been able to predict to some extend. Ever since he had mentioned their sibling to them, all other topics - and in this case people - had become about as relevant as void. A soundless sigh pressed through his lips before he took another sip from his coffee, watching the heartwarming reunion unfold in front of him. Not that he couldn’t sympathize with missing your siblings.  And if they didn’t thank him suitably, there was always blackmail.

“It’s nice to see you both so happy”, he snickered, shaking off his salt and bitterness as much as possible. His chance would come another day, for sure. “I’m glad I could assist with your reunion. Surely, it would have taken much longer without me.”

Well her question was legitimate. There was literally no reason for the other to start screaming as well. He was the one that was absolutely, positively terrifying. Like, imagine if a walking talking skeleton walked up to you. Or well. Like. If he wasn’t one himself.

“YOU’RE THE ONE THAT’S TERRIFYING!”

He’d had a huge grin plastered on his face and had been sure that this encounter would go completely pleasantly. It was because of this that her real reaction had thrown him completely off guard. She turned around and started yelling. Loudly. Suddenly. There was only one way to properly react to this situation.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA??”

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!”

She thinks she remembers the other talking about siblings, but it never occurred to her one was an identical twin. He probably didn’t mention it to try and slip her up later---how rude! Or it could be as the other said, but like, that didn’t change that he was rude.

“So you’re like identical twins or something? And I don’t get it---why would he be embarrassed by your existence. Like, my brother is the toooootal opposite I wouldn’t be able to stand that honestly. Doesn’t it upset you or anything?

“Oh and uh, sorry for the mix up and junk---and thank you for the compliment, hehe.”

    This city was a miracle, through and through. Somehow the shitty Matsuno brothers had managed to climb the social caste system far enough that cute girls would willingly stir up conversation with them! (Though, Osomatsu supposed he had Totty to thank for that all too often, and that seemed to be the case here, as well.) “Well, the fact that I’m not Todomatsu might explain it. I’m his brother– or, one of them; name’s Osomatsu.”

    “I’m not surprised he didn’t mention us, though. He tends to get embarrassed by our mere existence, especially around girls as cute as you.”

{hey guys, I have a heads up to give! Starting tomorrow, (Friday, May 6th) I will be heading out of country---specifically I’ll be heading to Italy for a class of mine then to the UK. I will be gone for a month (and two days as I return on June 8th), and supposedly, at least while in Italy, I will have access to wifi. however there is no guarantee how much free time I will have! particularly the first two weeks since it is for a class, and I do have an essay to be doing (as well as another paper for another class that unfortunately clashes with this one).

so what this means is for both Clover here and Totoko I will be doing what I can whenever I can, but for Doppio/Diavolo, Fugo, Jonathan, and Kars I will be putting them on hiatus for the duration of the trip!
