Risk Assesment
My project has little to no risk, as it just consists of taking pictures of people in campus in their quiet moments. However, there is the risk of being judged or asked to stop taking pictures of them.
I will try prevent this by trying to not be so obvious when taking the pictures and also be accompanied by someone, so if something were to happened, like someone got mad or anything, I wouldn't be alone

Documentary Project
The silence in daily life
This project explores the quiet moments in our daily routine through a series of black and white photography. Each image shows a kind of mundane setting: a bridge, a parking lot, some grass, etc. but each of those tells a story, a simple one, but a story after all. These type of silence, of the calmness between the rush of a schedule is what I wanted to capture.
I personally enjoyed the composition of the photographs. Each of the have a main subject, that though the lines, the angle and the elements of the photos, the eyes of the viewers are naturally guided there. Also, because this is documentary, the photographs feel very genuine and raw, and by the contrast gained through the black and white editing, they feel connected in showing the stillness of life.
The main flaw of this project was the sharpness of the pictures. Due to the fact that I was following people around the campus, the light was different in every photo. This caused problems when editing because some pictures were not as sharp as the others so I had to spent even more time editing so they could gain this sense of union.
If I were to repeat this project, I would improve the angles that I used. Even thought the angles that I used worked really well with the composition, I think using more unique one would have giving the pictures more to them. Also, I think the theme could be improve. While the pictures do follow a general idea, having a stronger connection such as a repeating object or a person, would have benefited the overall cohesion of the project.

Ad - RedBull
The denotation of the picture is that it is just a can of RedBull in a chair and it has some lights on the background. On the other hand, the connotation of the picture is that the RedBull makes things around you move because it give you energy. This is represented by the lights moving behind the can, just making the imaged filled with energy and life.

Project #3 - Portraiture
The photographer that I used for inspiration was Richard Avedon. I really found interesting the way that he is able to capture the reactions of the subjects, the truth behind their expressions. So for my project, I wanted to imitate this feeling. My main concept was to be get the authenticity of my friends reactions. Ive always found that expressive people are very entertaining to look at, not to make fun of them but to admire them for carrying their emotions so publicly, so I chose my most expressive friend and his boyfriend. I was curios of seeing how his way of behaving would change. To my surprise, he was the same but now with someone that would express his love for him in the same way.
What I liked the most about this poorest, is how honest the emotions showed are. In the first picture my friend Juanda is in the processes of being filled with laughter. He's not laughing yet, but you can tell that he really is enjoying himself. Also, I like the softness captured in the second picture. The way the hands are holding him with such care, as if they were holding the. most precious thing in the world. the way their eyes meet and how calm they become. The light is also highlighting the right part of their faces, just making their expressions even more real to the viewers. Continuing with this, having the background being so clear helps a lot in keeping the focus on their faces.
On the other hand, there are some thing that I would have liked to have done better. The first thing is the framing. I think that if I would have zoomed out a little bit more, the way their bodies moved would have help my concept even more. Furthermore, a more interesting angle could have also worked on my favor because just it being eye level doesn't do that much for my pictures, I believe. And last, if I were to repeat this photoshoot. id like for it to have more planning in the continuity of the photos. This is because I really struggled in selecting the final pictures because I couldn't find like a sequence or a cohesive theme between them. Some were to focused on their love and some others were just about the way they communicated with the world. So in the future, I think having a clearer plan would really benefit me.

Character Factory - Bolon (My cat)
At first glance, Bolon is a cute and totally normal kitten. But once one looks with precession, they can tell that bolon has its one story. Bolon, or Bole for the family, like to look at people as if they were constantly doing something wrong. His eyes are constantly almost squeezing, as if they were analyzing and judging your every move. His toes, even though they are small, can make the room turn in fear with just a tap on the wooden floor. Bolon walks as if the room was his, just moving around a crowded room meaning the attention of every single living thing. He sets his eyes on his target and he makes sure they follow his orders, it doesn't matter if he depends on headpads, scratches, the food of the whole neighborhood, or just attention, he makes it a mission of getting what he wants.
Once his goal is accomplished, he produces a sound so deep it could scare the biggest of ants. It's a purr. This noise is made to prove that he was able to complete his quest and it demonstrates his satisfaction of being able to get whatever he wants.
Bolon as much as he likes to make little to no effort to receive things, sometimes he likes to achieve things by himself. He enjoys the thrill of the moment, the anticipation of the chase. His ears appear as if they were o=with a mind of their own, turning in the direction of each little sound, sometimes they even mimic the form of a plane, waiting patiently to land on their desired object. If the correct sound is made, Bolon will direct all of his attention to his prize. His body gets really low, so close to the ground to try to deceive his prey into thinking he's not there. When Bolon takes his first step he's almost shy about it, one foot slowly coming after the other one, almost as if asking for permission to continue. The second step has more courage behind it, it has the experience of the first and the impulsivity of the following. Then, he jumps. His movement is quick and precise, the exact angle was calculated in milliseconds to get to his objective fast. While he's on the air, his gaze is frozen in time, just with one thing being reflected as it points in only and only that direction. When he gets to his goal, he attacks without thinking, his mouth goes straight to taste the flavor of his accomplishment and his body relaxes in the success of his catch. He takes a look back to see his grand conquest and his little body appears to be as imposing a lion, linkedin with pride at his prize.

Photo Excersice
For this proyect, my prompt was reflections. At first, I wanted to take photos of the reflection on water or mirrors, but while I was walking around the university, i notice that there were a lot of reflections on the windows.
In the first picture, I really like how despite it being a reflection, there still is so much color and details. You can still see the stairs, the persons, the building al so clear, but if you start looking closely you can also see what was inside of the window.
On the second picture, the reflection was not as clear as on the first one because it wasnt so bright, and also because the window had like a type of cover inside. I like how, because it isn as clear, it has a somewhat mood to the photo.
For the last one, I really like the fact that there is so much going around. You have the sky, the stairs inside, the lights on the window, so your eyes captures a lot of information.

Project - Camara Controls
CAMARA CONTROLS- OUT OF THE GARDEN
For this project of fantastical worlds I thought of the idea of a creature that left ist fantastical world and came to ours. These photos follow the path of this new creature leaving its world, the garden, discovering the things that are in our new world and trying to be at the top of it. I think that the protection had a pretty solid concept, however there were problems in the execution of it. First of all, because the figurine that used to be the creature was really small. It was difficult to get the camera to focus on it. In the first picture, the camera was trying to focus on the bigger plants that were around it and it took a lot of time until I was finally able to get the figurine in focus. Another difficulty was that holding the figurine was complicated because of its size and form, so trying to hold it still for the blurred movement was truly a challenge. One of the biggest difficulties was trying to figure out the best way to adjust the setting on the camera. The sun was really intense and because I was constantly moving the shutter speed and the aperture, the lighting that was captured was always changing. The ISO was also affected by this, so I also had to be actively paying attention to it and changing it according to the other settings. I would like to improve the focus of my photos, I think that I could have done it in a more creative way and that it could have been clearer. I would have also changed the composition of some photos due to the fact that I think that in some, the attention of the viewer doesn't know where to focus. If I were to do the project differently I would have liked to be more creative in the background that is present in the pictures, be more conscious about it and not only put my focus on the figurine. Overall I really appreciate the way that the pictures turned out, the concept was fun, the figurine was unique and the effects were clear, but I know that there are some abilities that I still need to improve.

Immersive Word-Pictures
My childhood bedroom
My room always seemed to be the biggest one in the house. It had a full closet big enough to fit all my toys, walls so tall that I had to draw trees on them to feel I could reach the ceiling and an impressive door that I covered in stickers so its imposing look wouldn't scare me at night anymore. Through the years i manage to learn that the room actually wasn't so big, it's just that at the moment it became mine, everything appeared big.
On the well next to the door, I could find all the remaining pieces of when that room wasn't just mine, it was my brothers and I. A strip of blue paint followed the bottom of the wall, that was the first and last attempt of my brother to be a painter. On top of that line, there were some spots, that if one closed one eye and turned their head to the right just enough, they could pass as tiny hands trying to be quick before the grownups entered the room and discovered the mess. Next to the abstract art of a 4 and 6 year old pair of siblings, was another hand, one that actually looked like a hand, made by me once the room started feeling a little too big for only one person. My parents had decided that we were getting too big to share a room and that my dad's office was the perfect size to fit my brother's bed, so in consequence, I had my own big girl's room.
My bed has always felt cold, so I covered it with all of my toys. Not one, not two, not only my favorites, but all. I felt that if I left one behind in the corner of my closet or one in the shelf above my bed, they would have felt cold and scared like me, so everyone had a space on my bed.
The years passed and instead of feeling lonely in such a big room, I felt alone enough in a big enough size room. Now, instead of toys covering my bed, there were unfinished projects scattered across the tiled floor. The book that I tried to write, the song about friendship left unfinished and the drying painting of my dog waiting to stain my purple quilt. I loved to start all kinds of different projects: songs, paintings, weird drawings of my pets, everything my mind thought of, however, I was never good at finishing them. My brain always felt as if it were faster than me, just coming up with new ideas and jumping ahead of itself, ignoring the task that it was doing moments before. If I think about it, my room felt the same way. It was always changing, new colors, new sound, new smells that I got sick of by the week, but always mine.
I had a window next to my bed that was right above a main street. Everynight, right before I went to sleep, I could hear how the rest of the city still had to be awake. Cars went by, people talked, screamed and cried about their days, dogs complained about the cats of the neighborhood, and the cats fought with the mice. All happening all at once. I got so used to it at some point during those thousand nights in that bedroom, that now I actually need to replicate those sounds to have a good night sleep.
I miss my childhood bedroom. I don't want you to misunderstand, it's not as if my family has moved or my room was destroyed, it's just that even though it still is my room, it isn't my childhood anymore. I used to think all my life revolved around those four bedroom walls, actually, that all of the world was there. But with growing up and leaving the house more often, I discovered that those were only my walls and that the world goes beyond that. So yes, my childhood bedroom is still standing, but it's not for me to live in anymore, that room is only for my past self to enjoy, play in, cry, feel safe in, and to leave it at some point.

Vignettes
Vignette 1: Frozen Motion
In the thick of light
Between her hand covering her face and the way she had her eyes almost completely shot, only a fragment, a streak of light was able to reach her. In the path of luminosity, she noticed the way the drops had formed a precise formation, how they had a leader upfront and the rest seemed to want to catch up in the race of who gets to the ground first. Enclosed by the light the droplets seemed eternal, so clear to the bare eye now that their usual transparency has been replaced by the reflection of the car's light, some appeared to her as soft as her mothers touch but other were as rigid as her fathers thoughts, but as everything eternal, they were impossible to reach.
Vignette 2: Blurred Motion
Dance of time
Like the rest of the world, the clock was still running. The clock hands were going so fast I thought they were performing a dance of some type, the movement was consequential and uniform, in a perfect rhythm. I couldn't distinguish where the time started and the seconds stopped, but I guess neither could the people with no faces. The faces that walked below the clock were following the dance of the clock, they went from right to left and from up to down, trying to give their attention to the one that was making the loudest noise among the fusion of claims. Between the dance of the time and the abstract formed by frowns, I knew that I was lost in time.
Vignette 3: Depth of Field
The weight of the dust
The last object to be packed with the rest of memories and complicated emotions, was sitting there alone on the empty coffee table. A single frame, with a single memory, borders covered in dust and cobwebs trying to upstage the couple on the photo. On its right corner a fissure radiated almost to the center of the picture, barely touching the smiles, the last proof of happiness in that house. Furthermore, if one cared enough to pay attrition, they could also identify a single drop of blood in the middle of the fracture, dark and dry, reminiscing of the years that had passed. The frame gave its back to the millions of unidentified boxes and covered furniture, wanting to be the only one left to stand alone in the same place where everything was created and torn down.
2. Experimenting with techniques
3. Questions
My main difficulty was trying to name something that I have already done before and trying to replicate based on the idea. I had written stuff like this before but never with the purpose to match a photography technique. So it was really difficult to sort of deconstruct a term that I considered to be more exact in its meaning and use it to write, which is something more natural and forgetting in my experience.
With the photos I had trouble achieving what I planned to do beforehand. Like in my mind, I had a clear picture of what I wanted to achieve and I knew, in theory, how to do it, but when taking the actual pictures, they weren't coming out as I expected.

Camera Controls - Trying New Things
For my first exercise using the cameras, I was just really confused most of the time. There were so many things you could press to change something and so many new terms I didn´t completely understood if im being honest. However, even if my main emotion was confusion, I still really liked the results.
EXPOSURE
My first challenge was trying to figure out how was I supposed to fix the light that was in the picture. First of all, the lighting that day was really tragic: the sun was really high and intense so the shadows were also strong and, because of this, knowing how much light was supposed to enter the shot was almost an impossible task for me. My solution to this problems was to just focused on one object, try to get a correct exposure and then go from there.
MOVEMENT
After I finally manage to somewhat understand the light, I had to also understand the shutter speed. In this case, I actually think it went a lot better.
At first glance, this picture for me was incredible. It has a decent color and it has frozen movement, but the minute you look closer, it is out of focus. I freaked out. I didn´t how that happened and didn´t know how to even correct it, but I calmed down, asked for help, manage to fix it and took more photos.
This one made me so happy. It had the frozen movement, the flow of the skirt, the expression, and most importantly, it was finally focused. After this, I felt that I was more in touch with the controls of the camera and tried to use what I had learned and applied it in an even more fun context.
