one of the things i love about ebenezer scrooge, and a christmas carol in general, is that, unlike most fictional rich people, scrooge doesn't allow himself the luxuries that he denies to others.

like. he is enormously wealthy, but does he spend his money on good food and nice things and indulgences? no. he keeps his house dark because it's cheaper to not light things, he eats gruel, he barely even makes a big enough fire to heat himself, let alone the room. he scrimps and pinches pennies everywhere he can - including in areas that other people would consider "necessities" rather than "luxuries."

the story of a christmas carol is as much about ebenezer scrooge coming to realize that his misanthropy and miserliness is making himself as miserable as it's making everyone around him, and learning to once again take joy in living in a way he hasn't allowed himself since he was a boy.

it's genuinely cruel to ebenezer scrooge to compare him to assholes like elon musk and jeff bezos.

for all that he is a terrible, terrible person, at least scrooge isn't a damn hypocrite.

Psa: as of today, oct 14 2022 there’s an ad for sxm on tumblr possibly just tumblr mobile that starts with a quick flashing background (black then white fast as someone pressing the button of a pen as quickly as possible) if you have extreme photosensitivity I’d recommend getting off tumblr. I have very mild photosensitivity and the pulse made my eyes ache, I’m not sure what this’d do to people with epilepsy or other types of photosensitivity and I don’t mean to cause a panic but I’m nervous that this could be really bad on someone.

I think one of the worst problems with having the ADHD Internal 24/7 Radio Station, "the only station that broadcasts directly to your brain, from your brain!" is when you have to read words.

I purposefully don't put on music when I read so I can focus on the words of the text... but that doesn't matter because the ADHD Internal 24/7 Radio Station is playing the same song on repeat for the next 2 hours and I have to try and block it out as best I can to absorb the information from the text.

it annoys me when i see a 'reasons to live' list and it's all wholesome stuff like sunsets and hanging out with those you love,,, what about those of us who have to rely on living longer than our enemies, what about those of us who are waiting eagerly for the funeral of that one person, or those two people, or those three people, or those four people even,,
